An amazing first experience for my step children. We came to get them their first bears and pick up a bear for our gender reveal (it's a girl!). The staff was so awesome, and the kids loved controlling the stuffing and putting their hearts in their bears. It ended up being less expensive than I was expecting, which is always a plus! I came here today for the first time since I was a kid. It was even better than I remembered it. They have a lot of different customization options now. I love that they offer sound and voice recordings as well as scents and a heartbeat for the stuffed animals. I took advantage of all three and absolutely love my bear! I even had my boyfriend do a personal recording for me instead of just choosing a sound or music on the recording device. They had a lot of different animals and clothes to choose from too. The staff was very helpful and super friendly. It was a bit pricey for everything but it was worth it and is the best build a bear I've ever gotten! Would definitely go back again at some point. read more

I feel like this is a fun store for mostly young girls. My niece loved being able to pick out her bear, an outfit and customize her bear any way she wants. My niece loved watching the bear get stuffed and come to existence. The staff were so nice and felt bad for my younger nephew, he felt left out. They gave him a bear and even let him watch it be stuffed. He still has the bear in his room and cherishes this considerate gift too. My daughter turned three and we decided to have her party at Build-a-Bear. She LOVES stuffies and Doc McStuffins. Thankfully, we only had family members as part of this party because we definitely didn't feel like they made much effort to make the birthday girl feel special. Instead it was rushed and we were made to feel like all they worried about was the tags. There are several things Build-a-Bear could do to make the experience much better. First, they should assign two people to the party. One person just couldn't manage it all. We only had 6 kids (one was 3 the rest were 9 and up). Second, the attitude of the party person. The person who helped us said nice things but clearly didn't want to run the party. She definitely wanted the tags more than making my 3 year old happy. Third, get rid of the dumb bell. The underthrilled party planner rang the bell with all her heart and terrified my daughter who started to cry. At least give the family a warning. Fourth, keep in contact with the parent in charge. I only discovered what was happening when I happened to look in the right direction. I was trying to make sure everyone was getting what they needed and turned around to find the lady giving my daughter a special birthday cake and having her "blow out the candle." Ok, great! But let the mom know who might want a picture. The party was more chaotic than I thought it would be. I didn't appreciate the way things were handled. They should have a special meeting spot for the parties. I'm sure my daughter would love to go back again but never for a party. read more

This Build-A-Bear is very enjoyable to visit.  The staff and management are upbeat and participate in the events around them.  They are caring for their patrons. They have a great selection of bears and other stuffed toys to choose from.  I like the pirate and the rainbow bear especially. The stuffing stations are in good condition.  One drawback was there was a light film of dust in the place.  I am not sure if it was due to the material batch they were using or the process they used to load the stuffing station.  The process involved dragging out a bag and grabbing large tufts of material and pushing it into the machine.  They might need to work on that one - maybe auto introduction from a bag or small bale.  When we visited there was a young bride there with her bridesmaids and family.  It made the whole activity festive.  Talking about festive - there was a birthday party going on too and if you don't know how it gets in a Build-A-Bear when a party is going on you've simply got to see it to believe it! They have a wide selection of accoutrements for the bears and others.  It's a hoot to browse through them.  Last but not least there is a sound machine where you can load sounds into your bear's heart which is then placed in the chest your bear and sewed in tight.  (It's not as far out as it sounds - once you see it or participate it all makes perfect sense - like having fun!) The service in here has gone WAY down here. We went today on Mother's day and found most associates we dealt with quite rude. We waited in what we thought was the line to check out and the individual at the register let who just walked up to the register go "because they were in the proper line" how about post some signs or use one of the other store associates who are just standing around in the front of the store flipping their hair to direct customers. This location is definitely not what it was a few years ago. It used to offer such a great experience for families. read more

I took my son here for a fun day out. He has autism and is not very verbal at three years old. I don't like announcing that publicly, but the employees there were still so very sweet with him without knowing. He started to 'meltdown' during the fluffing process, and the kind lady helping us was very nice and helped make the process as fast as she could. We enjoy how they only let a specific amount of people in at a time, so overstimulation wasn't as big of a problem as it is in most stores. We left with two build a bears, and while they were pretty pricey, it was well worth it for the experience and kindness we had. read more

I arrived for the Build a Bear pay your age the lines were already cut off. I offered to pay full price, and still was denied access to the store. This event was poorly handed. This should be a shinning example of poor marketing. Up front you could have disclosed 200 bears at child's age, then a percent off of kids age for the day. Why didn't your management have the foresight to develop a better plan? HUGE Disappointment! We probably have at least twenty of your animals in each kids room. We went Cyber Monday for my daughter's 3rd birthday. There was only one worker and they were very busy. But the worker, Kiya, handled it so well. She was able to still make it special for my daughter even though she was swamped. We really appreciate it! Please give Kiya a raise. Good employees who work well with young children (and their parents!) are hard to come by. read more

My son loves this store. Pros... You can find a coupon either online or on eBay to make your purchase cheaper. And also going during the week will be more enjoyable not only for the child but also for the parents! You don't feel like you are going to lose your child. The workers are extremely children friendly. No pressure, rushing or impatient employees. Cons... Price can get steep if you buy not only a bear but clothing and accessories. So if you are taking multiple children ( I feel bad for you) one child can easily spend $50/$60 dollars each. Again another con is that weekends are ridiculous in this store! Period. read more

Saw this sign at Build-A-Bear and have a baby on the way so we wanted to get some lion king stuffed animals thinking this was a good deal. After stuffing the animals and getting them all ready to cash out they told us the lion king animals were excluded. This sign clearly shows the deal with the lion king on it. VERY DECEPTIVE!!! I'm am furious. I ordered a bear for our 5 year old granddaughter and when i received it, it was messed up. The voice was messed up and the button for the voice out of the hand some. I immediately called and they weren't there so i emailed them. They emailed me back and told me there is nothing they can do. This is ridiculous. When you pay that much money for it and even more for things for it, and they say there's nothing they can or will do. That's wrong! That's horrible customer service. This was the first time me or my daughter have been to build-a-bear. I will not be going again. There weren't enough staff to explain the process. There were too many people in the store and parties running at same time. I was tempted to call the Fire Marshall. They need to limit the number of people in there couldn't even move to enjoy the experience and was too expensive to not enjoy the experience. Love this place. We went today (probably my 10th time there) and they finally had some deals! Got accessories at a decent price. Bears are always great quality but sounds don't last long.
