My daughter made a build a bear years ago but wanted to make a new one so she could get a kuromi. The workers were very sweet and helped her stuff her kuromi and even let us skip the naming and clothes part, she just wanted the kuromi lol. Was a little worried that we would be the only non children in there but when we went today there were only adults making stuffed animals which made me a little less self conscious haha. This was my first time ever going through the Build a Bear experience. My coworker and I love Pokemon so we wanted to build our own. We both choose Charmander. First you can choose if you want to give him a voice and/or a heart beat. I decided I didn't need either and went straight to stuffing. It was fun to be included in the process even if I was just pushing the petal with my foot. Next was the clothes section. They did have Pokemon clothes, but I wanted something different so I got a Seahawks Hoodie. The guy working there was so nice and fun to work with. He definitely knew what he was doing. I love Build-A-Bear and think this makes a great gift for small children. Something about creating your own stuffed animal adds to the magic. Its been awhile since I have gone thru this process myself, but it seems even better than I recall. I am thankful to have experienced it with my young relatives ages 1 and 3. Perhaps the 1 year old was too young to grasp the concept, but she loved running around the store and touching everything. She found the brushes to be particularly appealing and was still able to choose her own animal to stuff. This place was pretty chaotic two weeks after Christmas with everyone redeeming their gift cards. Thankfully lots of staff were working to help everyone get their needs met. Staff were able to answer multiple questions about pricing and product availability. They all know how to interact with young children well, which is not a skill everyone possesses. I particularly enjoyed watching the part where they have the children rub the small hearts on their body and give it kisses prior to inserting it into the bear which definitely adds to the creating experience. Its also great to watch them step on the pedal to fill the bear with fluff. My relatives enjoyed picking out the sounds to insert as well. Overall a great gift and a great way to spend an hour or two, do be prepared for lines. read more

I came here in August to get my 15 year old bunny restuffed and the staff was absolutely incredible. Brandon, the manager, and the other lady working were so caring, enthusiastic, and non-degrading (I was nervous being there since I'm 20). When I got to my car I felt like my bunny was too stiff so I went back in and they graciously unstuffed her so she was fit to my liking. Cannot recommend this location enough-incredible staff and I also felt like they held up well to covid safety measures. read more

Absolutely the worst managed store. Why would you only have one person stuffing bears during an event? It seems like the priority is to pass out stickers to the people that won't get to the front end of the line for over an hour, possibly hours as the line is well out into the mall now. I will never spend another cent in any of your stores. And it gets worse, brought in another employee but sent one on break. Still just one person stuffing bears and one very underworked cashier. The manager should be fired! read more

This was our first experience with this franchise. Luckily we went on a day when it wasn't busy. However even though it wasn't busy the service was still lack luster. Such a large store and only 3 employees on staff. They would literally have to yell across the store at you to talk to you which wasn't great. I feel like this is such a trap for parents and an expensive one at that. I did the 2 for $35 deal. Which of course includes nothing but the stuffie. All the extras are way overly priced. $11-16 for a shirt for a bear? I won't pay that much for my kids clothes much less for a bear. But since this was a special occasion I did. 2 bears, $75 and that could have easily been north of $100 had I let him get all that he wanted. They rang me up wrong at first, I had to go back for a refund even which took forever but it got done. read more

My five year old LOVED that she got to pick out her own bear, help fill it up, pick out a scent and heart to put inside and pick out her very own head-to-tow outfit! The kids had an amazing time and then we went to the food court to do cake & presents. Having a build a bear party can be expensive but only having 6 or 7 kids, it's quiet affordable. read more

Kids LOVE this place! I'm just sad I didn't think of this AWESOME idea first! :) You get to MAKE a bear! Then dress it up!!! Of course you can always bring your bear back for a "shower" (looks like a tub but it's air). REALLY adorable accessories too! Ones that your kids might want for themselves! My kids have gone to two birthday parties there and they were VERY well done! I was impressed. Can be pricey though 20 plus per kid. :) The craze has died down a little but it's a safe bet any child would adore this place! Even adults! In the Tacoma Mall, it's closer to the Penney's end of things. read more

The professionalism is awful! I had to stop for my toddler to get a bear and it being Christmas time it's obviously very busy. They had two people working the machines and took the only quick moving employee to work a party. Which there was already a girl working the party, she just wanted her friend to help her. There were 10 people in line just standing while the only girl working was still with the same couple for 20 minutes. There was one cashier. This wasn't the first time I have waited in a line like that there before. They don't have a good manager obviously because they had another employee just wondering the floor not doing anything. We waited for twentyfold minutes to not move in the line at all and ended up leaving without getting anything. read more

This company is one of the worst companies to deal with, my son's dying father recorded a message on one of these bears and the store said that at anytime this recording could be fixed if when you first heard it sounding robotic to bring it in. I did this and the careless employee just through it on a counter as if it was nothing, guaranteed it would not be lost and 31/2 months later, it is lost and my son now no longer has his deceased father's goodnight message. Completely unacceptable!!! I will never shop at this store again, every. read more

I went until this store with throw kids and decided to get them bears, I also decided to make one myself. What I was expecting to be a fun experience turned out to be a bit if a nightmare. There were four employees in the store and not one of them tried to help is when It came to selection our items. The store only had one other group of costumers which consisted of two children. When we had our bears chosen and when to get them stuffed the woman who stuffed them snapped at my four year old nephew because he wanted to put the heart in his bear right away but she wanted everyone to put the hearts in at the same time. Instead of calmly explaining that she raised her voice and said wait until everyone is ready. Then my nephew being a four year old asked again to put his heart in the bear and the worker snapped again saying "I said wait!". The clothing selection was also horrible that only had an option of three outfits. I ended up spending over 300 dollars for bears, accessories, and terrible customer service. This was on a Monday by the way so it was not like that were slammed and couldn't help. I will not be going back and I don't suggest anyone else visit this location unless you want to pay for someone to yell at your kid. read more

Came in with a gift card knowing I'd be buying an overpriced bear and some even more overpriced accessories for my son. We pick an animal and make a sound with no issue and when they stuff my sons monkey they notify us that it has to be sewed by hand saying that "this kind need done by hand" I didn't think anything of it and then when making the "birth certificate" we have issues with the tag which so I have to go grab another bear for the UPC. I then see that the "kind" we have does have the east pull and tie stitching so they don't need to be sewed by hand usually like we were told. When I ask about why I was told they needed to be done by hand even tho they normally don't I finally get notified about ours being a used display bear that had been stuffed and emptied then thrown back in with the new selections. I ask about a discount as most places always give 25% off or something to sell displays which have more wear and stuff in general. I get told no it's full price and forced into paying for a new stuffed animal even tho it's original seams had been cut and so on. I would have just left it but my son had already gotten attached to his new friend. The customer service or lack their of was sad. No wonder build-a-bear locations are closing. We won't be back to this location for certain. read more

We had the same employee - Lacacia (I'm so sorry if I'm spelling this wrong!) - and she was great again! We are already planning another trip when they release the Fluttershy plushie in November! We just had my special needs daughters 23rd birthday party at the temp. location in the Tacoma mall and they were awesome about accommodating everyone and running the party while I sat back and enjoyed the fun and laughter. We had the store to ourselves because it was a Sunday morning right when they open so I would suggest this time as a peek birthday party time with the store not being very big and there not having a party room. When we walked in the girl who helped us the week before was there, she immediately recognized us and went to grab it for us. They made my special needs son feel special and welcomed. I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this build a bear today. As I was checking out with my son, the cashier asked me to sign up for the rewards club. I politely declined. She pressed, explained benefits. I politely declined, again. Then, she outright pleaded with me. At this point, I'm pretty taken aback by the encounter. My only thought is that the number of customers who sign up for the rewards club is some sort of metric they measure employees on. I'm willing to let this all pass. The , a line is crossed for me. She says either to herself outloud, or passive-aggressively to me that she didn't understand why no one wanted free money. Then she gets down at my son's eye level. My son is turning 5, and this is part of his birthday. Anyway she says to him in a saccharine voice, "that's so lame! Your parents don't want to ever bring you back here." I am shocked at the audacity and utter rudeness. Luckily, my son was too enamored with his Spiderman teddybear to react. I think things would have turned out differently if he has cried. Maybe she was trying to embarrass me? I'm not totally sure. I completed the rest of my transaction with pleases and thank yous because I am an adult. Kari, you are right. The Stars for Staff is 5 out 5 if you just need a bear and nothing special this great place to spend $80, they also great managing and handles the situation the best every and kept amazing attitude during upsetting situation. Driving down for Seattle on my daughters birthday to find out they are out of Famous Disney pet palace. The Stars reflect the Set up of this store: ITs not fully stocked to meet the designs of each Disney styled pets. Inconsistent Supply vs other stores. This stores is no fully stocked and you need to call ahead if your loved one is seeking a particulate kind of bear, dog, cat, bunny, accessories and dress or outfit. They do not have 1 complete pet palace to sell you. After 2 hours we had to settle with a bunny, and $82 later its not the same as we visited in Anaheim. IF your in Disneyland just buy it their they have the best supplied store, better than online even. read more

Drove about an hour to this build a bear just to find out that they are out of what we were going to get. They have a bunch behind the counter, but they are all "reserved" so we can't make them. We get on a wait list, they told us it might be a couple weeks before they get all the way down to our names, and drive about an hour back home. A few days later I get a call that they will have more in stock, but now they can't do a wait list or reserve them anymore. I ask if they can make an exception, since I already drove pretty far for nothing, and I don't want to drive for nothing again, which they can't. They said the best we can do is call before we leave and see if they have any AT THE MOMENT WE CALL, before we drive an hour to get there. I ask if they can hold them for us on the drive up. Maybe they can. Who knows if I will ever actually spend money at build a bear, so far it seems up to chance and their bad systems that they change unfairly at a moment's notice. read more
