Not too pleased with my annual visit. Arrived on time and taken back into the treatment room fairly quickly but the wait for the provider was longer than usual. Even after getting undressed for the appointment was longer than expected for her to return. At most, the longest I've had this examination last from arrival to departure was no more than 30 minutes. I was asked by my provider if I had any questions or concerns and I wish I would have kept my mouth closed and googled the answers. I was billed an additional office visit for asking about perimenopause and when to expect them to arise and another personal concern. Never again will I answer or have any concerns or questions. So disappointed with this particular visit because when I've had questions in the past-no charge. I feel like I should have stuck with my initial provider. Oh well. read more

This happened on September 2nd, but they either hid or deleted my Google review. So here we are. Such a pleasant feeling to be the butt of the office joke! Today I came in for my ultrasound &12 week check up. Ultrasound appointment went swimmingly, so nice to see your baby developing well ANYWAYYY, Rebecca, or whoever the tattooed lady was, comes in & says she'll be doing my intake. Asks if I had any concerns for the doctor & I told her I'd let her know after she took my blood pressure I'd let her know. Takes my pressure & says "I guess you want to talk to her about how high it is. I say "what is it?" She responds with the reading. It's extremely high so now I'm concerned. She leaves & Emily Williams comes in. Asking if I have any concerns & I tell her my blood pressure. We talk, I tell her what's going on in my life that could be causing the stress, she leaves & tells me we'll check my pressure again. While waiting for the second check, I hear Rebecca (the tattooed lady) telling what happened in the room to whomever she was talking to verbatim. After the story was told they busted out laughing. Likeeeee what's funny? I'm concerned about my blood pressure & y'all laughing? LOUD AF TOO? Y'all weird. Comes back in, takes my pressure again. Still high. Leaves. Goes back to wherever she came from for more laughs. I'm soooo happy that y'all got tour jokes off at my expense! Let me start by saying I was looking to switch OBGYNs, and after reading reviews, I found Buffalo OBGYN. My first appointment was great! There was almost no wait time once I signed in. I did have to wait a bit for the doctor to come in. Dr. Rosann Lana was amazing! She answered all of my questions and made me feel like we were on the same page. She probably spent 30-40 minutes with me. I truly felt like she cared about my well-being. She is very personable yet informative. Also, I messaged a question I had through the portal. They responded very fast--like alarmingly fast! read more

Came in for my annual exam today. Appointment at 11, arrived at 10:55, was taken back within five minutes, nurse did the initial questioning which took another five minutes, doctor came in 10 minutes later to ask her own questions, I expressed mild concerns and she discussed potential treatment options. This time she was not talking a mile a minute like my other visits. Felt like she had more time for me this go'round, and that she cared to hear what I had to say. She left the room so I could get undressed, came back less than 10 minutes later with a chaperone, the exam itself was very quick, and once again they left when I was still in the stirrups. I scheduled next year's exam on my way out the door at 11:39. Definitely an improvement over last year. read more

Preface- I am a local physician and have been a patient at this office for over a decade. I hesitate to write this review for multiple reasons- but they kept pushing for a positive review on google, which was... off-putting. The office staff was lovely and pleasant. I have seen all of the physicians in the office over the years. My physician of the day spent a total of three minutes in my presence. Two minutes while I was dressed. She dismissed my concerns. Did nothing to address my issues. Rushed off. Came back and performed a perfunctory one minute physical exam and rushed off again with a see you next year. Never asked if I had questions. Perhaps these concerns were outside her perception of the scope of the visit. If she only had three total minutes allotted to my visit and said so, okay. Suggest a return visit, perhaps??? Nope. Easier Admittedly, I was so taken aback by the way she treated me that I was not more forceful in getting her to address my issues. But also did not feel comfortable with her in that moment anyway. If this is the care a local doctor gets, it is hard to imagine what else is going on... so disappointing. And honestly a little disturbing. It felt like time to move on last year, but it is very clearly time now. I loved supporting an all woman practice while it lasted and wish them all the best. read more

Sadly this office is so impersonal and most unfriendly place of care. I'm in the industry myself and can't believe how rude and cold. I've tried to deal but now my daughter's visit felt the same. No eye contact. No smile. Rushed. Sit in gown forever. Nurse, doctor whoever comes in nothing caring to offer not even a how are you doing. It's like robotic. Feel like I'm in their way and a bother. They barely answer any questions and certainly do not ask any. I maybe there hour plus for annual but seen by Dr in 5 minutes tops. Really sad and pathetic. I used to go here and had them deliver my two children. Stopped going because it was apparent that these doctors only care about money. My pregnancies were treated differently, and with my 2nd child the level of care was a lot lower than with my first child. Visits were always super short, they were always running late. I had gestational diabetes for both pregnancies. Both times I had to call to get results. Then they sent me for weekly ultrasounds but then never bothered to follow up on them. My last prenatal visit with my 2nd ended with them telling me that they had JUST looked at the many ultrasounds and saw that something was wrong and he needed to come out ASAP. I was told that I was supposed to schedule follow ups with the ultrasound place, even though they never said one thing about it. The after pregnancy care SUCKS. They had me fill out a whole questionnaire about post-partum depression and then never looked at it or even discussed it. Told them I felt that maybe I needed some help because I felt that it was more then the 'baby blues' and they just shrugged it off and said I was fine. I ended up having to get on antidepressants soon after. They also do not call you AT ALL about test results. Good or bad. Instead, they expect you to come in for a whole separate appointment, which of course isn't covered by insurance. So on top of having to either take time off from work or find a baby sitter, you're then having to pay $150 for something they could've easily told you over the phone, or through a patient portal. If you decide to call about your results, they then act like you're crazy for even wanting them and act rude over the phone. Additionally, they keep things from you. Had no clue I had a certain issue until I ended up finding out from my GP. I ended up having to call and get my complete records to then see all the information they kept for me. Whether it's an issue or not, the patient should be entitled to know what's going on with their body. I wouldn't recommend this practice at all. read more

It's a busy Ob/gyn practice. They see women of all ages. The front desk staff is very nice. No complaints there. I'm not going to the OB clinic for hugs and to make friends. I'm there to make sure my baby is healthy and my pregnancy is going well. The visits are short. They don't spend tons of time with you holding your hand. PREGNANCY IS NORMAL. It's like getting your period, developing breasts- no 2 hour discussion on your feelings about it needed. They make sure you get the tests you need when you need them. If you don't hear from the clinic, you're fine. They want you to see all the docs before your due date. Once you see all of them, you can stick to the doc you like. Remember- that doc might not be on call when you're going to deliver. If you're super sensitive, maybe a midwife might be a better option for you. They tend to spend more time with patients. Personally, I like the hi/bye. Maybe they would spend time with me if I had a ton of questions or a problem, but I don't. Glad I picked them. My prenatal visits were rushed and doctors offered 0 information. I hoped by 28 weeks appointment it would get better, just worse the OB never explained the t-tab shot & took 2 seconds to listen to the heartbeat "140 good, see you in 4 weeks," and ended the visit. I had to inquire about my glucose test & blood work. I just had to switch, the lack of care bring high risk & just the experience of having to go through the prenatal appointments without a partner due to COVID... there was just a lack of compassion & professionalism. read more

After several years of decent care, I will never return this this place. The office and staff are very nice. The process for annuals and IUD placement and removal were very quick and professional. My problem with this place started when I told them I wanted a sterilization procedure. I am married, 42 years old, and have a 25 year old child. I definitely do not want any more children, and would like to not have to worry about hormonal birth control anymore. To complete this process I had to consult with to 2 different office staff and the doctor over 2 visits, as well as a mandatory pelvic exam (after I had just had my annual a month prior). When they called me for yet another "consultation" I finally told them I was done. I was made to feel incapable of making my own reproductive choices, and even got a bit of a guilt trip for even considering the procedure. I wish I had a dollar for each time it was stressed to me that "THIS IS PERMANENT," as if I was too stupid to research the procedures on my own and make an educated decision about my own body. At one point I even got "What if your husband wants children?" (I believe I said something to the effect of "I'd like to see him try." Lol) It was ridiculous. If I was a man who decided to get snipped to avoid reproducing, any doctor would have preformed the procedure without a second thought. Instead I was left feeling completely harassed. I do not recommend this practice. I had a terrible experience there 3 years ago and it still upsets me. I had a very difficult medical situation; the doctors here not only lacked compassion but also made several errors and gave me incorrect information that made the situation so much worse. They misread a lab test result and didn't understand the positive predictive value of the test. The ultrasound tech and doctor misinterpreted an ultrasound and their conclusions were later contradicted by a radiologist. I got a second opinion from another doctor who confirmed that they made an error. A medical staff member called me to follow up but was uninformed about my case, which required me to rehash the details and explain basic facts she should have known. The staff person was also unprofessional-- she started crying on the phone when I explained what happened. I'm still so mad about their incompetence three years later. I agree with another reviewer who said: "it seems like if something goes "wrong" they do not know what to do." Maybe most people won't have complications and will be fine under their care, but I really question their medical knowledge. Adding insult to injury, they have terrible interpersonal skills. Read the reviews-- their sloppy errors and poor communication are common themes and major red flags. Since I can't change what happened to me, at the very least I hope this review saves someone else from discovering their incompetence the hard way. read more

If your bloodwork is abnormal they do not call you. I asked them THREE times to please call me and no one ever did. This has happened more than once. I always end up calling them for my results and they say "your provider will go over the results when you come in"... meaning i have to make an appointment & pay to get my results- okay. I asked the receptionists to tell my provider to please call me, and I never get a call. There is poor communication at this place. Additionally, the NPs lack compassion, empathy, and can be condescending when you ask questions. read more

I'm not the type of person to write reviews about an OBGYN or that is relatively casual about the whole thing, but I think people should know about this place. After moving back from LA I had trouble finding a good OBGYN that could compare to my primary care doctor back in California (she did everything and was fabulous). The woman I begrudgingly went to for about 2 years for my OBGYN care, just happened to be in the same medical complex as my primary doctor so I went there out of convenience. But, after getting fed up with the service and her bedside manner, or lack thereof I finally branched out. And boy am I glad I did! I like to feel comfortable in an environment where my health care is of concern, and this place is it. Buffalo OBGYN is very bright, shiny and new. Run by all women on Main street in Snyder. It's tucked between Williamsville and the city, it could be reached right off the 290 main street exit. The office, is very modern, very clean and very efficient. They even have one of those one cup keurig coffee machines in the waiting room. The entire facade is in this lavender and gray color featuring cherry blossoms that just oozes cool, calm, feminine, serenity. The receptionist is very polite, and knowledgeable, the nurses are friendly and comforting as well as the doctors. I never have to get a prescription or argue with them about refilling a prescription because they just immediately send it via the internet to your pharmacy, so it's ready by the time you're on your way home. If you're pregnant, planning to be, or not even, this place does it all, even has an OBGYN on staff who does Urology if you need it. So, if you're looking for a better doctor and looking for a comforting environment that has an amazing staff and doctors, go here! read more

I suffer from chronic bladder infection, have a history of ovarian, uterine and breast cancer in my family and suffer from extremely painful periods. I have been going to Buffalo OBGYN for years now and they have always been very straight forward and thorough about my situation. I told my doctor a few days a go at my yearly that my periods have been off since my essure proceedure probably because of stress and other illness, and is disruptive to my life when I do have them. She had me in the next day for an ultra sound to make sure everything was physically ok with me. Dr. Lana has always been very firm, but kind and has always seemed to have my best interest at heart. She discusses all of my medical conditions with me to make understand the full picture of my issues which helps me stay healthier and to make sure I get the best care I need. My biggest complaint is the cleanliness of their bathrooms. They reek of urine and that is a major issue for me because I am always concerned about hygiene. Some of the receptionist seem careless and when my husband asked for toilet paper the receptionist made him wait awhile, while she chit chatted about nothing. Seeing as how this is a gyno and prenatal office this was a bit concerning, because see people cannot hold their bladder/bowels due to pregnancy or certain female issues and that it was flat out rude to ignore my husband's basic needs as a person to have the ability to use the restroom. This has only been in the last visits in the past week though, so I am hoping it was just an off week for them. Over all I would recommend this office and know others that have had Dr. Lana specifically and have loved the service and medical care they receive. If you are looking for a decent female OBGYN there are four to choose from and some really good and kind NP's to choose from as well. I really do miss Dr. Khalif in Lockport, but this was my best option thus far. A concern I have is I feel like I yet again have a bladder infection and instead of testing the urine culture there they had me do the test on the way out and that I would hear from them either way. It has been two days and I will need to follow up the call myself. A little annoyed, but not to the point of leaving yet. read more

The Doctor has the worse bedside manner I've ever encountered. I went to discuss some problems I'm experiencing conceiving. The doctor didn't even attempt to listen to my concerns and constantly spoke over me. She spoke to me like I was a teenager complaining of cramps and downplayed my pain. Apparently because I don't have a disease that I could identify myself. My litany of painful issues didn't deserve a respectful consultation. I have been seeing Dr. Gelman since I moved back to Buffalo (a little more than two years now) and I couldn't be happier. I am prickly about the doctors I see, particularly because there are a plethora of rude and unfriendly front desk staff in area offices. Everyone I've encountered at Buffalo OB/GYN has been pleasant and helpful. I usually have appointments during the workday, and they get me in and out extremely quickly. The longest I've ever sat in the (pleasantly decorated) waiting room is five minutes. While Dr. Gelman is incredibly efficient (entire appointment from arrival to leaving doesn't usually take more than 30 minutes) I don't feel rushed. She always takes time to talk to me about any concerns I'm having. She made getting an IUD a painless experience (or not entirely painless, but very easy at least). Really my only complaint is the horrible font on their website. read more

(Also, while I was waiting on the table, I put my feet on the stool sitting right up against it, and the doctor snapped at me for this when she came back in. I was excited to have an all women OB/GYN practice with African American providers as my choice. My experience did not meet my excitement. Each time I went for my appointment there was nothing that set this practice aside from any other OB/GYN: wait was the same, personalization of care was standard, patient/provider relationship was standard and uniform. I felt like a number not a patient. I went through trauma and stress my last few weeks of pregnancy and post-op with this provider. My delivering doctor never even had the decency to speak with me after delivery. After 5 days of being in the hospital and no communication, I discharged myself. This was a disappointment. read more

I typically never post reviews however I felt the need to post this. I came to this practice desperately looking for help with severe pelvic pain that started 2 weeks before my period. The pain was terrible and I just wanted answers. My 1st visit was great the 2nd one didn't go as well but I attributed that to personality differences amongst the provider and myself,so I switched to a different provider. My 1st appt with the new provider was great and she took into consideration my fear and ordered some diagnostic imaging however nothing showed up on the ultrasounds. After months of this I met with the provider because I was still in pain and wanted to see if I was experiencing endometriosis. I googled my symptoms and read an article from Tia Mowry about Endometriosis in the black community and how it is often misdiagnosed.The provider accused me of wanting pain medication which I never asked for and quite frankly didn't want,I just wanted the pain to stop or to at least know what it was When I asked about endometriosis testing she told me that I could find an infertility doctor,which puzzled me because I don't want anymore children. When I asked her about a laparoscopic exam which I was told by my primary care doctor to ask for she told me no and that nothing warranted it. I then asked for a name of this infertility md and she walked out the room and never came back. After 5mins she never returned and I left the office crying. I called my primary md in tears. Luckily I was able to find a new doctor who took my pain and worrying serious. Similar to Buffalo OB/Gyn they also completed diagnostic testing however they kept going and guess what I was diagnosed with endometriosis that required surgery. I was also started on lupron and later transitioned to Orlissa. I have not had any pain in over a year. I'm writing this review hoping that the doctors at this office will read or even hear about this post and remember to listen to their patients,remember that people come to them for help and remember that they are supposed to be a place of refuge. No one should be treated or spoken to the way that I was. I hope this never happens to any woman ever again. read more

My C section had awful complications and the doctor did not even come and check on me after my BRUTAL c section. Oh wait, she did....2 days later. I will not be going here again! I switched to this gyn after reading some reviews online and doing my homework. I wanted a Gyn closer to home, turns out I will have to keep looking. While the office was warm and inviting and the staff was courteous and nice, the doctor I saw was not. Dr. Lana was the gyn who saw me and I was shocked at her lack of bedside manner. She was short and curt and did not smile once during the entire time I was there. I wanted to talk about alternative forms of family planning, including IVF and her response was "I don't know anything about that" - her words exactly! I left her office feeling discouraged and upset. The exam took less than a minute, I felt like she didn't even want to touch me. I have been having exams since I was 18 and i have NEVER experienced what i did with her. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I will continue to look for a doctor closer to home. read more

Be Aware!! They are not there to help you, they only want your money. I read reviews about this office and made my decision to make an appointment based on the reviews. This was a BIG mistake. The office staff has no idea what they are doing. They leave you on hold for long periods of time. They do not listen to what you are saying. One time I was put on hold 6 times and every time they came back on the line I was asked how to spell my name. I started out with Ilene Alt in Jan 2013. She had me go through a series of blood work. Everthing was normal. I have HUGE bills from all the unnecessary blood work that she ordered. I worked with the insurance company as many of the blood test ordered were not covered. I had a procedure done by Ilene Alt-what a debacle that was. It was a very painful procedure and not done right. I was told I needed to have it done a secod time. Dr. Williams (very nice) completed it the second time. Still not completed the correct way and I was charged for BOTH procedures. When I called and questioned why I was being charged a second time for a failed procedure, I was told "just because it was a failure, doesn't mean you do not get charged" My insurance company will not cover the second procedure so I have to pay out of pocket. I called and spoke to Patty (very rude) in billing to set up a payment plan and was told the amount I wanted to pay was not acceptable and they would turn me over to collections if I did not pay what she wanted me to pay or the full amount. I explained I accrued so many bills from all the blood work and other tests that were not covered by insurance, my husband had been hospitalized at the end on 2012 and I had no insurance at the time he was hospitalized and had large bills that I was still paying on and that was all I could afford at the moment. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I've made good faith payments. I decided to see another doctor since this office has been unable to diagnose what my problem is. They will not release my records to my new doctor until I pay the balance I have with them in full. So, more money for me to spend with a new doctor. I have been treated by Buffalo OB-GYN for 9 months and they do not know what is wrong with me. I have filed a complaint with the insurance company. This office is why we pay so much for insurance. read more

I do not mind this office. Personally, I am very healthy and only see an OB once a year just because it's nice to know a dr in case something comes up. I have no reason to sit and chat about the lack of issues I have. Now that the Pap smears are recommended for every 4 years if normal, I'll have even less reason to go. So if you're like me, getting your pregnancy care elsewhere (midwife), very healthy, and don't want to spend much time there, this office suits that. The pregnancy care, I can only imagine, is very in-and-out and impersonal. Some people like that; I don't, hence having a midwife. Go where your needs are met and do not settle for less than what you need! read more

Very happy with the staff at this location. They treat my fiance and I as if we are the only people who come here. Very informative and supportive, which is important for people like us who are having their first child. Everything is very nice and clean, which is important for a medical office. Unlike what some of the previous reviews stated, we have never waited over 5 minutes past what our appointment time was, they are in fact very punctual. I couldn't be more disappointed with Buffalo OBGYN. I left them after 28 weeks pregnant for another practice. This was obviously not ideal, as I had already invested the majority of my pregnancy with them. After each visit, I kept hoping things would be different. There is zero personal attention with these doctors. They jam in patients and rush you through, not knowing a single detail about you nor do they bother asking or explaining anything beyond the basics. I had expressed my feelings once to Dr. Flemming Williams and was told that they had to balance their time with patients and keeping on schedule and offered no apology or solution. They clearly take on way more than they can handle. I have about 5 other friends who have the same opinion, so I am not alone in this. My advice is to switch and move while you can. I couldn't have made a better decision to leave. I also spoke with their office manager, and never got any follow up phone call or any response as to why and 28 weeks pregnant I wanted to leave. They should be ashamed of themselves at how they treat their practice like a factory. read more

So the nurse shoved and poked and prodded yesterday to try and put in an IUD and then was unsuccessful (wasting a $1000 product). She also did an ultrasound to see if there was a problem with the uterus (there wasn't) and the US tech said "you've never been pregnant before right" (instead of "have you ever been pregnant/had an abortion/miscarriage"). The NP then prescribed me something "to open up the cervix" (it was an abortion inducer so I would have loved to know that ahead of time, I feel like that's a really important thing to say especially to a woman of color in a field known for pushing eugenics). today when I was coming in the MA gave me a cup to pee again for another pregnancy test and I asked if I had to do this again since I just did it yesterday and didn't super have to pee and I haven't had sex in the past day and even if I had it wouldn't be caught by a pregnancy test today, and she literally started YELLING at me in the waiting room telling me to suck it up and take it and so I asked if she could ask the doctor and she came back out and said it was okay but also falsely documented in my chart I did one (they billed me $25 for it and I spent an hour arguing with a lady on the phone whether or not this was ok) and then she literally made up a blood pressure (120/78) and I was like not to be rude but that's literally not my blood pressure you didn't put a cuff on and I have hypothyroid so it's closer to 90/68 but ok and she was trying to tell me she was just putting a normal in to speed up the process..and then the doctor used the wrong sized speculum at first when hurt like a bitch and no lube at all and she asked me about which birth control I was on last (nuva ring) and what my problem was with it (I had SEVEN utis in the last year not at all related to sex) and she said "yeah thats not really a gyn question you should ask a urologist" and I asked for a referral (which I've done before) and she said they don't do referrals and then I said I was surprised the Misoprostol was an abortive agent and she said "we don't use it for that we use it to induce labor so she probably just didn't know that" which was weird and like the whole thing was so painful and then she said she could see my uterus so she took out the IUD to insert and it didn't work and she said the cervix was being fussy which like if she could see my uterus how was the cervix a problem? And then she said "it's ok I'll just put this smaller iud in" and I was like "wait is there a different side effect profile/cost/is it a different amount of time" and she goes "do you want it or not" so I just panicked and said no bc I was in a lot of pain and then she said ok I'll prescribe you a nuva ring but not until next month bc you ended your period Sunday so you can't start it until you end your period (which is just not true and I literally was just telling her my issue with the ring so it seemed a little weird that she thought to do that) read more

I was not a fan. The doctor was OK, but the nurse practitioner was not sensitive. She actually told me something she'd done to me didn't hurt when I told her I was in pain. Go somewhere else. read more

Find another doctor, all around bad experience every appointment I had. Awful follow up and poor communication through out office. Rude receptionist when you call. read more

Good things? Front desk was nice and not a long wait. My C-section scar looks nice. Bad things? Despite a wonderful pregnancy (not getting sick, no ER visits, no significant pain), I did not gain any weight in my last trimester. I questioned it but was assured everything was OK. The day before my due date, I thought I was leaking. I contacted the office and was told to come in but then again was ASSURED that everything was OK and to come back in 4 days for a sonogram. At that sonogram (3 days after my due date..) I had NO amniotic fluid left. None. Was told to go to the hospital. Once at the hospital they had to induce me and I had to go through what seemed like torture so the in-house doctor could try to put saline where my amniotic fluid should have been. My husband had to finally step in and tell them to stop. My baby's heart rate dropped about 60bpm with every contraction I had. I was brought in for an emergency C-section because he was in distress. Then he was in the NICU x8 days. Also, he only weighed 5lb12oz at 3 days post due date. Hmm.. My other issue? His circumcision was done in the NICU on day 3. I wondered why he was bleeding so much, but when I spoke with the neonatologist on day 4, he was upset because MY BABY'S PLATELETS WERE LOW. Hmm..no wonder he was bleeding so much after a major surgery on a newborn in the NICU. I also had a contact dermatitis, unsure of what from ALL OVER my abdomen, up onto my breasts and around my scar. I was in the hospital and my OB could not call in a dermatologist? They told me to put a topical cortisone cream on (which I did) but after day 3 of intense itching (I swear that was even worse than the C-section), I had my internal medicine doctor call in a steroid taper because I knew I needed a systemic steroid. That took care of it. I honestly question this practice. I was very happy with them through the pregnancy but it seems like if something goes "wrong" they do not know what to do. Very upset and am changing practices. Women need to know that this CAN happen. I think the doctors are NICE, yes, but I question the medical knowledge behind the nice face. read more
