I am from Dallas so I usually go to the Buffalo exchange there. The environment here is just OK it's kind of dark gloomy... Compared to the one in Dallas that is bright merchandise really fun and isn't so thrifty looking... I really enjoyed shopping here though... Even though I wasn't able to drop off any of my clothes because of Covid and I have to have a appointment I found some really good pieces that I am excited to wear... Horrible place to sell your clothes. I called before hand to ask if they were taking coats and they said yes. I drove an hour, and when I got to the buyer they said they were no taking coats. They waste peoples time. Take your business to Leopard Lounge or Plato's Closet. read more

Wait time was great! I was in and out in 30 minutes. Staff were nice. They didn't take much. But it's to be expected. You're probably getting rid of your worst stuff in your closet and they want trendy pieces they think will sell. All in all it's subjective. I'm sure it depends on who is working that day. It was my first time coming in trying to sell to this place. I brought in a huge bin of clothes, a lot good brands including Lululemon, Zara, Princess Polly, Abercrombie, Patagonia, Steve Madden and more. A lot of items were still new with tags, worn once, or still in good condition. I left the store without them buying not ONE thing, with the excuse being the condition which was confusing because a lot of it was new. Also seeing some of the clothes/shoes they were selling's condition, I was definitely shocked they didn't pick any of my items. Won't be coming back here to shop or sell. read more

Buffalo Exchange is a great consignment shop (NOT THRIFT SHOP) where you can sell your vintage/trendy/in season clothing in return for cash or store credit. A lot of people come here to sell their closet, so if this is something you plan to do, get there EARLY or else you'll be waiting for a while. The selection of clothing, jewelry, and shoes is pretty decent. All items are in really good condition and look like new. The prices however, are a bit steep. An average t-shirt/women's crop top can run between $9 and $12 dollars and women's jeans/shorts begin around $13. If you're coming in to buy a cute outfit for a weekend out, be ready to spent at least $25. If the prices don't scare you, dive into the racks and you'll stumble on some pretty great finds. read more

This is really one of those very trendy thrift stores that have nice clothes for higher prices but no real gems. If you wanna find some steals try some less trendy thrift stores. I gave it two stars because it's just downright snobbish. The employees are just rude. I felt like I stepped into a vintage boutique in Manhattan but the clothes are so not that. read more

Ever since this place relocated its gone downhill. The prices are ridiculous. A basic t-shirt for $15-$20, I would pay less at a Ross or Target. There selection is terrible and too "trendy." I remember the old location was super rad. They had a nice variety of brands and super neat accessories. I'm only giving it two stars because they did give me a decent amount of $ when I sold them some clothes. They gave me about $40-$50 for a couple of shirts and two jackets. Ps. I am from Lafayette, LA and I have been to this Buffalo Exchange once this past December. The service was awesome - from the greeting we received, to the help we got as we went to try things on, to the checkout experience. Everyone was so helpful! This is a very cool "thrift" shop. I quote thrift because the prices are a bit steep. However, the clothes are very stylish and trendy so it is worth the price in my opinion. I recently found out customers can sell their gently wore clothes here so I will definitely be taking advantage of that in the future. Along with having nice clothes, the staff is also nice as well. Hello, my name is non of your business. See that's how the employees were to me. They were very rude and talked shiz about my clothes while examining them with me right in front of them. The manager was also very rude, and she stepped on my toe and didn't apologize, and just laughed. They act like a little gossip club at school. One of the employees denied my pants and then i asked another one and he accepted them. it seems they can just pick what clothes they want and what clothes they dont based off of their personal interest. They definitely have a reputation for being strict on what they will buy from you but I've always enjoyed coming here to both sell and shop. I always leave with a special piece! I do feel they've gotten a lot pricier over the years. Let me start this review out by telling y'all that I made $534.02 here yesterday! That's right. $534.02. Let me also tell y'all that I weigh 280 lbs. all my shirts were 1x-3x and pants size men's 38 - 44!!! So for 1) this place most definitely is NOT fatphobic. I read that in a past review of this place somewhere on the internet. 2) the staff here was SUPER friendly and nice and accommodating. I especially loved the buyer that took care of us, I think his name was Kevin - super cool dude and the manager, forgot her name, who was really sweet. 3) did I mention I left this place with a $534.02 check!?! People, let me remind y'all of something. This is a resale shop. Which means they are already selling stuff for lower than what it should cost. These people need to not only make a profit but pay their employees, buy supplies, pay rent and electricity among many other things. So how do you expect them to do all that? 25% of what they price an item for is what they pay the seller. And to me that's very very fair and realistic. So if you are trying to to make close to what you think something is worth, this is not the place for you to go. Perhaps you should post your item on eBay or Poshmark or Grailed or Depop and wait a year or two to sale it. Now for those of you that are looking to clear out your closet and/or just get rid of some old clothes and pass them down to someone else who would appreciate them for a few extra bucks in your pocket, then this is the place to go. Also, if you are trying to sale some stuff you'd find at goodwill or a garage sale or a flea market or if you're trying to sale some boring, preppy trendy crap, perhaps you should try setting up a garage sale or going to Crossroads. I've been going here since the 90s when they first opened up and I was going through my goth/raver phases and this resale shop in my opinion has always been a thrift store that specializes in more edgy pieces with an alternative twist. I'm talking stuff that's funky, loud, extreme, vintage, modern, goth, punk, streetwear, luxury, weird, exotic, one of a kind, hip, fun, strange, sexy and unusual. So don't take it personal if they don't buy your stuff or offer you much. They are obviously after a certain style of swag for a fraction of the cost and what they sale it for in order to make a profit. That's their whole business! Duh. So in my opinion, as a shopper and seller and almost an employee at one time even, I highly recommend this place. Been coming here in the 90s, 2000s, 2010s, AND 2020s! i definitely don't mind buffalo exchange! there has been times where i found some great pieces for a steal. the part that gets to me is the constant stares. i understand retail. i've worked retail and am working retail at the moment so i know all about keeping an eye out but the fact that every time i looked up, an employee was staring me down, made me very uncomfortable. these certain employees made it so obvious and made it a point to keep coming up to where me and my friend were to "put clothing up".. do you HAVE to put it EXACTLY where i'm standing? especially throughout the store? just very weird energy lol but they can be cool i guess (stretching it) read more

My first visit to the new location was to sell a few things. So this review is based on my selling experience. I have come here in the past with my daughter because she loves the vintage look. The prices to me aren't very competitive for a resell shop. But their inventory is much cleaner and hipper than some of the other spots around. It just seems most of the sizes are geared toward size 2. I haven't been a size two since Carter was President. Don't think they will buy your stuff if you bring it in. The guy in front of me had about a dozen boxes of well loved, expensive tennis shoes. They offered to buy maybe 3 pair and give him 30% of what they think they will sell them for. Some stuff, like classic sneakers may be better sold on eBay. I had a lot of the clothes I wore when my life was in the corporate world. Good labels like Jones of NY and Nordstrom. Classic tailored button down shirts and linen slacks. Good quality clothing that most any young professional would love to add to their closet at a fraction of what I spent. They bought none of that. The manager explained that it just wasn't what they were looking for at the time. She did buy some of my quirkier silk shirts and a couple blazers. I walked out with about $55. So I wasn't disappointed in my cash. I wasn't expecting retail value. It's fine to pass on inventory you don't think you might sell. But to not buy such classic and well made product lets me know what they are selling and none of it would work for a middle aged gal looking to find some decent business clothes. I love everything from the way they answer the phone to The way they genuinely care about how their customers look in their clothes and even when they compliment what I'm wearing it always feels genuine. I also get style tips or ideas from their staff and even if it's things I won't wear I love how they all have personal style. They don't always take what I'm selling but that's a good thing because that means the styles and store selections are on point with the seasons. I've found so many gems at B.E. I've taken my teens here a couple times and it is always hit or miss. Parking is never good. Had to go around the block 3 times to get a spot on the side of the building in the street. The staff is always super friendly and nice. They treat this suburban mom as well as the hip teens and I appreciate that. My son found several shirts. The selection doesn't seem huge but we always find something for him. My college age daughter doesn't have as much luck as a lot of the ladies clothes are smaller sizes and she's, not. I had a good laugh! I bought some items in to sell as I was cleaning out my closet. These were all purchased in Europe, mostly MaxMara and other nice brands. The shop attendant rejected them because she did not recognize the brands, and they were looking for "high rise jean shorts and tank tops". Also, looking around the second-hand selection, I do not believe a 15-20 dollars resale price is valid for a fast-fashion blouse from Zara or HnM, as most probably that was the original purchase price in the first place! I have no problems with reselling fast-fashion for environmenal reasons, but if you are doing that, something's gotta give! read more

I would not even waste your time trying to sell to these people because they rarely buy any of your clothes. Being a poor college kid who wanted new clothes, a friend of mine suggested we try this place out. Well, I wasn't thoroughly impressed. I brought in two bags of stuff and they only took maybe an 1/8th of it because it wasn't "in season." Well, I didn't complain too much since money is money. They gave me a cash option of store voucher and I chose the cash, which wasn't much. I couldn't even buy something from the store if I had wanted! Note: they are extremely picky. The staff really wasn't very friendly or enthusiastic, which automatically puts me in a bad state of mind. The lady who was looking through my stuff at one point suddenly stopped, looked at me and then asked "have you already been somewhere else trying to sell this before coming here?" I replied no, but she I could tell she didn't believe me. I left there wondering why I even gave them any of my stuff to begin with. In comparison to Plato's Closet, the layout of Buffalo isn't the greatest. At least at Plato's Closet they have it organized by color, size, item, etc. Makes it SOOO much easier. There's a lot of negative reviews of this place so I wanted to give my two cents. I went here to sell some clothing and had a great experience. As soon as I arrived, a buyer, Janelle, greeted me and began going through my clothing. She was very polite and kind, as were the several other employees I encountered while browsing the store. I had two baskets full of clothing, and they were sorted through in about 15 minutes. About seven items were chosen. The buyer priced them individually in front of me and told me how much I would earn for each item. I was offered $45 store credit or $30 cash. I got a pair of earrings using the store credit and cashed out the rest. True to their word, the items taken were a combination of modern name-brand items more vintage/quirky no-name items. The items Janelle did not buy were folded and placed neatly back in my baskets. While browsing I did notice that the prices were higher than Buffalo Exchange's prices have been in the past. However, everything was very on-trend and high quality. Buffalo Exchange is becoming a more curated secondhand experience. If you are a long time shopper there you may be a little surprised by the changes, but it's not a bad thing. If you're looking into getting into secondhand sustainable shopping but dislike the idea of traditional thrifting, this is the store for you. A lot of people in the reviews are upset because their clothes were not bought... this store takes trendy clothing and if they don't buy yours, it is not an insult to your fashion taste. Try taking it to Plato's Closet, where they buy name-brand items. If you don't have luck there, donate it and call it a day. read more

I've been to my fair share of Buffalo Exchanges in California and find them to be mostly pretentious and overpriced. This one was less so. I found some cute dresses that were from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. Sadly they didn't work out and I was disappointed to see that one actually had a stain on it. FYI-Buffalo Exchange DOES buy stuff with rips or stains-I've seen plenty of things on their racks in various locations that shouldn't have been bought in the first place. Well laid out, clean, spacious dressing rooms. It's one of the better Buffalo Exchanges I've been to. Very busy, popular thrift store. Located in Montrose. Selection here is great. Plenty of clothes, purses, jackets, lots of shoes, scarves, etc. So many different name brands! I love it The clothes here are more geared towards a younger audience. The staff is helpful. DOWNSIDES: Beware that the prices are a bit more expensive than most thrift stores. Very pricey. Don't even waste your time! I came in with the intention of selling my clothes and a couple of accessories. Now, let me preface my review by saying I'm no fashionista, but I take pride in the clothes I wear and take great care of them. I understand that they buy clothes that are in style and for the season, so I brought two large bags of winter clothes to sell since it's November. The Asian girl with the clear vanity glasses was so rude. She took a long time to look through everything. I had Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, and many other great brands. I had two Louis Vuitton wallets, in great condition with the original receipts, dust bags, boxes, etc. Even the Asian girl helping me said they were in great condition. She said that she couldn't take them because they will not sell. Really girl? Really? As I'm literally staring at a wall of designer items. I just don't understand their reasoning in purchasing items when I'm looking at worn Target clothes on the racks. I just personally felt they the employees are lazy or they have a maximum amount they can pay out per day, so once they hit that limit, they don't accept anything even if they waste your time combing through your things. I ended up bringing all of my things to Plato's Closet down the street. THEY BOUGHT EVERYTHING. It was a much better experience. Even if you can't sell your things, I would rather donate to Goodwill to help people in need than to deal with the fake ass employees at Buffalo Exchange. read more

Well I went into this place to sell my expensive clothes and definitely got discriminated against. I was next up in the sell line to sell my clothes and the Caucasian woman after she finished the Caucasian guy decided she wanted to walk off and not help me at all. Mind you it was a long line and I was the only black person and black male still waiting. When they finally called me it was a Caucasian guy and he acted like he didn't want to help me neither. He kinda yawned, stalled a Lil bit and then said next person. 1st of all he was supposed to say next customer. I had $145 pair of akoo jeans a Stacy Adams top hat. I had two nice ball caps and a Jordan guy bag. He didn't even look at my stuff thoroughly and said I don't want any of it. Then he tried to say they had to much of what I had which was a cold-hearted lie. So they called the black manager which stood by the actions of her staff so she won't get in trouble. Then she told me there's no recording in the store which was another lie. I see a lot of complaints from black people concerning this store on shepherd in Houston Texas. I typically come here to sell some items that I no longer wear and am always greeted with such caring, sweet customer service. The new sign up process to come sell is to basically launder your clothing and leave it untouched for 24 hours and you can call/schedule the appt to come sell on the website. It's a really seamless process tbh. I have gotten between $10-$60 for a sale. I will def be coming back! read more

Decided to check out this store for the first time. I've gone to Plato's closet many times. I liked the store layout. It was neat, everything was hung, there was staff around to assist you, and around the fitting rooms. None of that having to ask someone to open a fitting room. They organized sections based on what they were such as tees, pants, jeans, shoes, sweaters, blouses, and dresses. I liked that more than having to dig through cluttered racks of clothing at platos. I do have to say I think the selection of clothes in general was less than platos, but you don't have to sift through so many basics and etc. Oh, that's another thing. They don't really stock basics. The store was roomy so you weren't constantly bumping into other people. I went around 4 pm today and there were about 20 other customers as well. Prices were okay...more towards the higher end, but I liked their selection. It wasn't just american eagle, a bunch of forever 21, target or Aeropostale stuff. I saw free people, boutique brands, banana republic, urban outfitters, etc. As for shoes, I saw quite a few doc martens as well. They were priced around $70 give or take. Another thing I liked was how they weren't using plastic bags and instead gave tokens for customers to pick one of the charities for the store to donate the cost of the bag towards. I first saw this implemented in uptown cheapskate in San Antonio, and was happy this store was doing it too. Parking was awful... It was limited, there's construction on the main streets nearby, and you literally have to park on gravel if the few spots are taken. There was a sign that said if you parked past a certain point, your car be towed. That made me a bit nervous, and it'd be great if the store could do something about that. Not sure what the deal is with the employees here. All of them seem to have a personal problem with me and my friends. I brought a small bin of clothes in nearly like new condition (I've lost 30 pounds so they don't fit) and were treated poorly. None of my items were bought which were almost ALL high end designer brands [Calvin Klein, Vince Camuto, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren (which was new with tags still on it!), etc.] but then they have Target's Mossimo on their racks... really? The employees are very sweet but the cash that the store offer is worse than Plato's closet. It's a total waste of time, I would only suggest going here if you were dead ass broke. If you bring a new pair of shoes they still give you $7 at the most cash it's ridiculous and then they sell it for 3 times more the cash they offer. read more

If you are planning to sell any high end items, don't waste your time. They sell to a younger crowd who would rather buy on trend than excellent quality classic items.
