It's really weird to be in your 20s explaining to people that you just don't drive and never have. It's even weirder in your thirties. So recently, at the age of 31, I figured I'd pay a professional a bunch of money to see if my suspicion was correct: am I an unteachable person who will never drive? I picked Buffalo Driving Schools because they offer a beginner package that includes unlimited road tests until you pass for no additional cost. They also offer the NYS 5-hour course ($30 extra but when you roll it into the beginner's package it still comes in just under $500). A few times a week for about a month, my instructor picked me up at home, had me drive me around my neighborhood in Kenmore and near the test area in Tonawanda. It turns out that, for me, learning to drive just required more instruction that my parents/husband/friends had been able to give me ("turn better" and " you should have stopped at that stop sign" never really helped me much). My instructor at the BDS broke each 45 minute lesson down into specific things to work on so I could gradually build up all the skills I needed to pass my road test. Either he is an amazing teacher or I'm just less unteachable than I thought because I passed my test on the first try without even taking the allotted number of lessons (I received a refund check for the remaining lessons less than a week after getting my license). They also offer single lessons if you want to work on, for example, winter driving conditions (pretty sure I'll be giving them a call in December for that one). Highly recommend making this investment if you (or someone more appropriately aged in your life) needs/wants to learn to drive. It's a surprisingly good investment and I especially like how I don't have to walk home from Target carrying cat litter anymore. read more

They got my money and did not provide the service and did not give my money back. At this time they still owe me $45 and they don't answer my call. I enrolled in their online class but asked me to go there in person. I asked for the money refund right after and they told me that they would give my money back. After a few weeks, I called them and they hung up on me after the agent told me to hold on and no one answered the phone. read more

Terrible impatient teacher. Constantly canceled and rescheduled lessons to inconvenient times, cramming all of them a few days before the driving test. When he did show up, he was miserable. He seemed angry that I wasn't an expert driver. As if the stuff he is teaching should be common sense. After 6 lessons and spending hundreds of dollars I didn't learn anything that I couldn't have learned on my own in 5 minutes. This place is an absolute scam. I wish I could give negative stars. I took the driving class here and I expected it to be a dry lecture going over the drivers manual. Somehow it was even worse. The instructor was old and it felt like he couldn't even complete a coherent idea without going on a random tangent or stressing the importance of how bad it is to get your license taken away. Zero zoom knowledge or etiquette despite offering the class over zoom. Go literally anywhere else. Please save yourself. read more

Would give negative stars if I could. I have been to 15 countries and lived in 4 of them, and this is the single worst business establishment i've ever seen. I would not even call it a 'school' because of how unprofessional the place is being operated. The instructor I had (one of their two i believe) called Sam was straight up racist (wouldn't stop saying offensive and spiteful things the minute I got onto the car) and unqualified as a driving instructor (never able to convey the right idea or even willing to communicate like human). i reserve for an individual lesson and asked them for picking me up on campus but they never came. 10 mins past from the time for the reservation i made a phone call to them and they told me that they are having a flat tire so they will be late. They were like as if it was normal and were not sorry for keeping the customer to wait AT ALL. i waited another a half an hour but they were still not here. i called again and they told me exactly what they said as the first call and finished me off because they did not have any more information about my driving instructor coming to pick me up. i had to give up on the lesson because i had a class. i got so upset and i never want to recommend this driving school to anyone. they were SO rude. read more

I'm coming back to write this review 3 years after taking classes from Buffalo Driving Schools. I took their classes back in 2011. I had no experience behind the wheel prior to their lessons. I took nine 45 minute lessons and passed the NYS driving exam on the first try. After passing I started driving locally and went on driving on the highway gradually after 3 months. I've been driving for three years now and have never got into a major car accident or ticket thanks to some of their defensive driving tips and very systematic driving instructions. I've moved away from Buffalo since then, but after seeing how some other driving school is like in other cities from the experiences of my friends, and how some of my friends were driving like under the teaching of non professional instructors (their parents or their friends) I felt compelled to write this review and thank their professionalism. I highly recommend any one in Buffalo take their lessons. read more

My experience was very disappointing. The person that answered the phone was very unprofessional. She answered my questions with "yep". The owner taught the class I participated in - he is rude and lacked any level of professionalism. He yelled at a young man, it was apparent the floor had not been cleaned from the night before. The set up is not inviting. When you walk into the building from the street; you step directly into the classroom. I was unimpressed and very disappointed. read more

Worst place EVER! I would absolutely not use this place again or recommend. I had paid for full course lessons for my child and wish I did my research first because I would not have. I have two other children that will not be going here. The secretary is horrible and when I had an issue the owner refused to speak with me. Totally unprofessional! read more

Terrible driving instructor, he said I was frustrating and was pretty much mad that I didn't know how to drive and didn't have anyone at home to teach me how to drive (which is why I'm paying for someone else to). Every lesson was horrible, he would explain something that I wouldn't understand and not try to explain it differently in a way I would understand. read more

Don't go to this driving school. Every time they were supposed to pick me up and go for a lesson they were late. My instructor would complain about how there was nowhere to teach me near where I lived and forced me to schedule double lessons ( two in one day ) so it was convenient for her. After only three lessons they scheduled my road test without even informing me and I had to cancel. Both my instructor and the lady who I called to cancel my road test were very rude. The school did not schedule my lessons or road test without consulting me and kept me out of the loop. If you want to waste your money then I recommend this driving school. read more
