Tried getting my kids enrolled In lessons. Sent a FB message, no response; sent an email, no response; called (time #1) oh we can help your kids. Driver makes her schedul, she will call in a few days.; called (time 2 - 1 week after first call) - sorry she didnt call, she's busy, I'll leave another note in her box. My son is currently enrolled with Steven's. I purchased a 10 lesson package in May. We are now on our 3rd instructor and only just finished lesson 8. The first instructor we had was on her phone almost the entire 1st lesson. She even called me to schedule his next lesson while he was driving (his 2nd time ever behind a wheel). Her lessons were scheduled over a month apart due to her rescheduling and availability. Before his 3rd lesson she canceled again due to illness and told me she would call and reschedule when she was feeling better. I waited 2 weeks without a call back before contacting the office. My son was not comfortable with her so I figured it was a good opportunity to request a new instructor. He was much more comfortable with the new instructor but we experienced multiple cancelations of his lessons before we were told the instructor was on medical leave indefinitely. We were then scheduled with a 3rd instructor for his 8th lesson. He has had 8 lessons in 7 months! The new instructor told him he was ready to sign up for his road test. I've driven with my son and I can tell you with absolute certainty, he is not even close to being ready. We will finish our lessons since they are paid for, but I would absolutely not recommend Steven's to anyone. read more

They teach you how to drive on 10-20 year old cars with check engine lights on, they put cheap tires on them where they pop no matter how light you hit the curb. the owner only care about money. Let me start by telling you my son passed. I'm sure it was a mixture of his classes (that were every 2 weeks due to demand) and practice he had with me. I needed Stevens more for the BRAKE they have on the instructors side of the car. However, our experience was not one to give 3, 4, or 5 stars too. This is what upset the most... The instructor, Rick, touched my son on his knee more than once to get him to press the brake. Isn't it partly why I am paying the company, for the BRAKE!!!! Not to touch my son. Besides touching him on the knee, he also grabbed his upper arm once too. His hands should have NEVER touched my son. Now you want to call it a reaction. ok. But after talking to Andrew and Michelle at the office they made it Very clear an instructor should never touch a student. Another reason I would not give a good review. Rick, the instructor, changed times and location pick ups on short notice most times 5 out of the 7 lessons my son had. The last "change" he made was not even a scheduled lesson with Rick per se. I called the school to schedule the DMV road test appointment. The school had to get back to me when they had open slots. No appointment was set on lesson 6!! After all was scheduled and the morning of the road test, my son and I were out practicing when Rick calls me 15 minutes BEFORE our appointment with a tone of annoyance and upset in his voice. The call was on my CarPlay. My son hearing it all. My sons nerves are already high. He does not like Rick due to previous lessons and him touching my son, and now he was listening to Rick blaming my son for not telling me the appointment time or for giving me the appointment card at his last lesson (lesson 6). Remember, I had to call the office to set up the last lesson (lesson 7) and road test. Part of the package was Rick giving the last lesson and driving my son to the road test. After we had words about blaming my son when in reality he was the one to make the mistake, while driving to the road test, Rick starts talking rudely about ME to my SON!! Another reason, the cars rear view mirror does not stay up and is not completely functional. Even when the road test instructor entered the car he asked my son if he (Rick) fixed the mirror yet. Another reason, my son took the online 5 hour course and never received his certificate of completion. I had to call the office after 2 weeks and they told me to wait another week. I did. I called again and they told me the online instructor never handed in the paperwork and she was on vacation. Not my problem. I needEd this certificate in order to schedule the road test. I called 2 days later because I still hadn't received it in the mail. They "issued" a certificate that day and was able to schedule the road test the next day. Hhmmmm Mkaes me wonder. We finally received the certificate of completion in the mail 5 days later. There is more but I think this is enough. I'm writing this because I want the public to be informed to stay on top of Steven's Driving School for every thing. AND DONT LET YOUR KID GET IN THE CAR WITH RICK!!!! The school made the excuse for Rick as having dry humor and comes across harsh. I never liked the man from day one. Why didn't I change instructors? Out of ignorance. It took so long to get the 1st lesson (called in March and started in June) I thought Rick was the only one instructing in our area. The school made it sound that the demand was high and instructors were few. That is why my son's lessons were every 2 weeks. Again, remember he did pass the road test but my son will never forget his experience. especially being told he should be ashamEd of the way he drives. Is that dry humor? Or coming across harsh? Granted when my son started lessons he wasn't the best. But that is no way to talk to a learner. Andrew and Michelle supposedly "spoke" with Rick and told him my complaints. I'm sure he denied all of this. It's for you to decide. And yes after this experience I did ask to be compensated financially. They did not think my complaints were worth the money because I haven't heard back from them in 3 days. So I want the public to be informed. Good luck. read more

I purchased a seven lesson package and switched to a ten lesson package with Rick and it really paid off and from that I just gladly passed my road test on the first try!! Rick was really supportive and patient the whole time when I was learning and made it a much safer environment to give the most honest criticism and pushed me to get better and I couldn't have done it without his help and with contacting stevens In the first place! stevens Is very helpful and and they really make it easier to learn rather than learning with just family. The 5 hour corse helped Tremendously as well as practicing in between lessons too. definitely recommend stevens driving for anyone trying to really get their license. read more

I purchased a ten pack from Stevens driving school for a friend. He was fortunate to get Brandi as his instructor. She was amazing with him. I highly recommend Brandi and Stevens. She was able to patiently teach him how to drive, do a K turn and parallel park. It was such a relief to my friend to be able to take his drivers test in the car he learned to drive in, with Brandi taking him to the test. If you have someone who needs to learn how to drive, go with Brandi snd Stevens!! read more

Called and made appointment for my son to start driving school. There was over a month waiting period but I scheduled him for September 2019, with Bernie. The day of his scheduled appointment I received a text message from Bernie telling me he had a illness and would get ahold of me to reschedule. He text me at 9:00 pm on a Friday, telling me he would be in my area the next day and wanted to reschedule the appointment. (Don't understand why we needed to do this in person). Let's do a brief review of the Stevens driving school "4000 Union Rd" campus: PROS: 1. Our instructor Mr. RD was a gentleman with a strong presence and clear language. He interacts with the pupils and "sometimes" smiles. He knows his business and explains his answers if you ask for something. Also, he gives some tips for your future driving. He is disciplined and a good "old style" teacher. 2. The learning material is composed by two DVD's which were produced in the transition years between the 80's to 90's. They provide all the necessary knowledge that is in your DMV manual. Also, they are COMPREHENSIVE AND CLEAR. For the chapter related to BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) levels the instructor gave us an update for the "XXI Siecle". The format of the DVDs is in the way of MAGNUM PI, and MIAMI VICE starring by Perry, Lorenzo Lamas, and BRUCE Jenner (before Kathleen) driving Ford's Crown Victorias. If you are a modern art museum curator or a nostalgic Atari gamer this place is for you. 3. The place has a restroom shared with the next door business. CONS: a) The campus is located in a space that looks like a former massage parlor. You can imagine this because the carpet releases an essence composed of oils, incense, tobacco and probably sex. The decoration follows the most radical line of the "brutalist" architectural school. b) You can sit in a common chair or in a school desk, many of this are decorated with engravings related to social and romantic issues. Kindly human expressions that can add value to the course. c) You must know that you will take a 5-hour lecture in a SUSTAINABLE STATE OF THE ART learning facility: all the heat (I took the course in December) is produced by the pupils, so after the 2nd hour you can feel (and smell) that you are surrounded by a natural human environment. CONCLUSIONS: If we make some basic arithmetics you can imagine that the "CEO" of the school can do some investments to improve the conditions of the facility related to SECURITY and comfort. Obviously, the brutalist style is not more trendy. The INSTRUCTOR IS GOOD and I APPRECIATE his work, the videos are vintage but work. Do I recommend this school? I didn't feel safe driving with my instructor and I think he knows who I'm talking about or he better. So he couldn't work with nervous people obviously. And he was so mean whenever I moved the wheel a bit farther than he wanted he ended up yelling at me rather than showing me. Grr read more

I would not recommend them to anyone. My son just finished his 10 lessons which took over 3 months to complete because the instructors seemed to never have any availability more than once every few weeks. The first instructor kept trying to talk my son out of learning to drive and the company only let me switch instructors after I told them to cancel and give me a refund. The feedback that I received was that he was doing great and so we scheduled the road test which he completely failed. I tried setting up some more lessons to help get him more prepared and have been told they have absolutely no availability. Very disappointed at wasting my money. The instructor was amazing and the best! The company itself is what causes the rating to become a 2. Michelle was rude and disrespectful and was not at all trying to help me out with my situation. The main office manager would not allow my instructor to really help when he wanted to help. I called in early to set it up and they made me wait over a month for my first lesson, which I understand they were busy and booked up. But they could have allowed me to take the 5-hour pre-licensing course prior to the first lesson since it was in the package I was paying for. They only accept cash or check at the first lesson. They don't take it over the phone, which to me really seems sketchy and suspicious of a company. They would not refund me for the services that were not provided. They are not taking me for my road test and they do not pick me up. They advertise that they serve all of Erie and Niagara county, but they will not pick me up and I live in Erie county still. It's not the instructor, it is the company and the managers themselves (Michelle and Amy). read more

My daughter passed, so happy about that, but the instructor often seemed clueless. He refused my daughter a lesson because we were on a 10 lesson plan and he thought she was on a 7, so demanded the 2nd half of our payment on the 4th lesson instead of the 6th, rather than checking with the office. Then when I called and straightened it out, counted all the wasted time as part of her lesson time. Now I find out after paying $600 for these lessons, they are not approved by NY State so none of this counts as Drivers Ed, so my daughter has to wait til she is 18 to drive after 9 anyway.
