    Breakfast burrito with home fries

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. We've been here many times. They're only open for breakfast and lunch. The food is outstanding. Authentic Mexican or delicious breakfast burritos; pancakes are to die for, or an omelette, you can't go wrong. Home fries are probably the best I've ever had. Street tacos are incredible, served with rice and beans. Service is quick and friendly. Atmosphere is just typical diner/dive, kinda no frills. Who cares? Food is that good!

A must try!!!! No regrets!!!! Where do I start!!!! Best hidden gem .... Our favorite new restaurant!!!! Delicious food... The food is so good we came back a few days later. The restaurant is next the a gas station so you may miss it if driving too fast... my husband and I had the chicken chimichanga and the Gorditas on the first visit.... Both are not pictured because we ate it too fast... We went back to try the breakfast and it was equally delicious..... no Togo boxes for us... The service was great. The owner and his wife are an amazing couple!!!

French toast with butter pecan syrup - best we have ever had!

Mexican food in Southeast Georgia is, well, let's just say it's challenging...to put it mildly…read more I've been served some disgusting crap at just about every other Mexican restaurant in Camden and Glynn counties in the short time I've lived here. I'd pretty much given up on there being any edible Mexican food in this part of the state. I was driving around with some company from out of town, and they announced that they were hungry, so I cringed in terror when I realized I was in St. Marys. There really aren't great restaurant or food choices here. I'd remembered that a friend at work told me that Compas had pretty good Mexican food, and I caught myself wondering if there was a "...for southeast Georgia." at the end of his statement. Well, we were close, so we took a chance. The location is a little strange, tucked away in a sprawling, but sparsely populated shopping center. Parking was a breeze, plenty of spaces, so we parked right up front and sauntered on in. We had to wait a minute or two for somebody to greet us at reception area, but that was no big deal, the servers on duty were very busy. We were seated and immediately given menus and asked about drinks. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and about what you'd expect for a strip-mall restaurant. The menu was quite large, and had just about every favorite Mexican food staple I've known over the years. I opted for the Chili Verde, something of a litmus test for a good Mexican restaurant in my book, and the others in my party opted for standard burrito/enchilada items. Chips and salsa were great, and kudos to them for having nice, big chunks of cilantro in it. Delicious, and very mild. No need to worry about scorching your mouth. The food came out pretty quickly, and I was pleasantly surprised. My Chili Verde was absolutely delicious, and the portion was quite large. I stuffed my face, and took leftovers home for lunch. The other diners with me also reported that their food was quite good. I'm looking forward to trying other items on the menu at Compas. Will probably get chili rellenos next. I know they can't all be winners, but at least there's a place in the county where I know I can get a good Chili Verde that won't make me sick.

When I asked to sit outside there was a little confusion at the front, which set the tone. Once we were seated it took about ten minutes before anyone came to the table, and when chips and salsa arrived there were no plates at all. The drinks were also a bit disappointing. My IPA came with an old rotten orange slice on the rim, and my father in law ordered a michelada that was served as a full glass of clamato with a separate beer, and he had to mix it himself in another glass they brought later. We also noticed that the word "fresh" had been crossed off the entire menu, so when I ordered ceviche I asked if they were still using fresh lime. I was assured they were, but when it arrived it had almost no flavor until I added a lot of hot sauce. Overall it feels like the restaurant just needs more care and attention to detail, which starts with leadership and training. The patio is great and this place could easily be much better with a little effort. To be fair, our server was very kind and helpful, and she honestly earned them an extra star. For now I would probably try another Mexican restaurant in the area and hope this one improves, because it really could be a nice spot.
