Massively wonderful healthy eating in Palermo. This is fun food - not haute cuisine. And there is healthy animal based food available for those that want it. Buenos Aires Verde is a lot better than the good-for-you cafes I have in my home city. Among the decadent pleasures they have masquerading as health food - A passionfruit chia smoothie. When you are in Latin America, if you see passionfruit (maracuya or maracuja) on the menu, Just get whatever it is that they are selling. Maracuya is wonderfully good. Maracuya makes your whole day better. Maracuya makes the sun shine when it rains And your relationships renew if you are arguing. Maracuya solves all problems - at least for half an hour. Chocolate can't even remotely compete with maracuya. The maracuya chia smoothie I had was the perfect start for the perfect day. It was also one of the few ways you can get chia into Samuel C without Samuel C giving you a speech about about what a bad idea chia is. My wife had a tofu and egg scramble. Yeah, eggs like the kind that come from chickens. Maybe a plant laid the eggs, but I don't think so. It looked like one of the best scrambled egg dishes ever. If i wasn't in total bliss about my maracuya smoothie, I would have wanted those eggs for myself absolutely. Argentines like heavy sweet pastries with their breakfast. I had a chocolate covered raspberry chocolate cake. This was a health food restaurant So this meant that chocolate covered raspberry chocolate cake was good for me. My life was extended seven years because of that raspberry cake. The coffee is fine too. (Good coffee is not an automatic in Buenos Aires. There are a lot of famous establishments with absolutely terrible coffee.) * * * After Buenos Aires Verde, my wife and I were able to go out and conquer the world. We stumbled across this place walking around Palermo after a late afternoon lunch at Casa Munay. We were intrigued even though we had already rated so we decided to have dessert. Dessert was okay - raw chocolate cake. While we were waiting for our cake we decided to grab a bag of cashews to take to go - only my girlfriend noticed bugs in them so I kindly let the hostess know. She seemed grateful and proceeded to inspect all of the remaining bags and removed over half of the remaining cashew bags. However, when we were ready to leave she was extremely rude to us. We wanted to pay and no one was attending to us - she ran my card wrong several times and was also talking to someone else wanting to order. She was short when I handed her the same card back and I had to almost force her to run it again. Buenos Aires Verde is a really nice small restaurant with super healthy and delicious food! I had some curry and a super fruit smoothie - which tasted good and your are full, but it just feels good and you can still go for a walk after. The personal was really sweet and since I don't speak Spanish yet - they try to explain everything in English (and Spanish) and they got a menu in English as well. It's difficult to find a heaping plate of vegetables in the city center, and if you do, it often costs more than a heaping plate of meat. But at Buenos Aires Verde, fresh and organic vegetables rain from the heavens in gargantuan serving sizes, and they're done up to the nines with delicious sauces and dressings. They offer a medley of hot and cold dishes (so you won't just be stuck with salad), from lasagna to risotto, pizza to vegan burgers, there's definitely a vast menu that can satisfy all culinary interests. Came here a few times during our stay, and I was never disappointed in the quality of ingredients, service, or ambiance of the little cafe, in fact, I was consistently impressed. I suggest ordering a few things off the menu and sharing family-style so that you can sample everything. The portion sizes are really large, for example, a single salad could easily feed two people alone. Bread, breadsticks, and hummus are complimentary. Yum. They have interesting twists on lasagna, both a hot and "raw" variety. The flavors are absolutely explosive as well, you won't find yourself stuck with a bland meal. They also sell vegan/vegetarian organic desserts in the front glass case, and other items for cooking/baking at home. You will pay a bit more here for a meal than other places serving food heavy on the meat, but again, portions are beyond generous and you get quality ingredients uniquely prepared and presented. Staff are kind and patient, will explain menu items in detail, and are attentive to the guests at all times. Pro-tip: they also have menus in English if you don't have a translator in your party. I love this place!!!!! It's an amazing getaway from the heavy red meats of Buenos Aires. All their food tastes so good. Ingredients are fresh, and tbh you don't even realize you're missing any meat. Salads: Their portions are HUGE. Recommend you share. My favorite one is the Omega salad. + Another one that was also good was Protein salad. (Tho the mix of rice in this salad + teriyaki sauce wasn't my fav) + Lasagna. Love this lasagna so much!!!!! All the veggies in it were amazing + Pizza. Also really good but it's HUGE!!!!!!!! + Desserts. My favorite is the fruit tart with ice cream. I had their chocolate mouse cake too, which is also good but I much rather prefer the fruit tart. And finally... THEY ONLY ACCEPT VISA :( And my corporate card is Mastercard which makes life tough but overall really really happy w this place. And they are also on Glovo!!!! COME HERE!!!!! The very first place I ate at (besides the hotel) upon arrival in BA. I wanted something healthy and delicious. I live in San Francisco and this place reminded me of some of my favorite healthy restaurants in San Francisco. I actually think it's better and I want them to open in SF! The menu is big, with daily specials, raw food, smoothies and desserts, to name a few. My husband got one of their special salads of the day and I got a taco which came with 5 different sauces/nut creams to top it with, including mole. Amazingly delicious, there are no other words. Vegetarian food that can convince the most stubborn meat eater that vegetables are your friend. I've been here for dinner and lunch and both times were fantastic. The place is small and doesn't have a bunch of decorations but that's OK. Both times I've been it was packed even around lunch time. The menu del dia for lunch has a bunch of options and all for just 60 pesos. Plus the smoothies and juices are soo good, fresh and inventive combinations of fruit and herbs and coconut milk. I came to Buenos Aires Verde for breakfast with 2 lactose intolerant vegetarians and 2 lactose intolerant/gluten-free friends. Before coming here I was convinced we would never find a restaurant that made us all truly happy. I eat meat but I love me some kale, smoothies, vegetables, you know, the healthy stuff. This spot more than delivered. My friends were all so happy with their Super Power Bowls and smoothies... so happy in fact, that they all returned two more times. Absolutely blown away!!! Coming from San Francisco, I have to admit that I was a bit cocky in thinking that I lived in vegetarian food heaven...Buenos Aires Verde was the most delicious lesson in humility I've ever had. The food was absolutely incredible with everything in the menu having at least one or two interesting twists! My girlfriend and I shared the Full Amino Acid salad and the Risotto Curry. All conversation stopped after the first bite. I'm sure we got a few looks as we both sat their chewing with our eyes closed. Stupid good! We ended up focusing mostly on the salad as we decided the curry would make for better left overs. As others have warned, the portions are generous so either come hungry or be cool with left overs. We also had very warm and friendly service which came as a surprise considering we were one of the last tables on a Sunday night at 12:30am. All in all an incredible experience! This is one of our go-to places for delicious vegetarian. Our hit list: Raw Lasagna Lasagna Power Pizza Tofu Napolitana Nori Plate (I forgot the name... but it's the only one, I think) The Lemonades...love them all The desserts...brownies, truffles, yummy Each of these dishes are really well prepared. I love the sprouted seeds and nuts added to most dishes. The flavors are just so good and complimentary of each other in all these dishes. I tried the Yamani rice bowl, but sadly it didn't make it to the hit list for me. Maybe I'll venture out, again, soon and try another new dish. Maybe. This place is so delicious. The portions are huge so bring a buddy or get psyched for some next day leftovers. I loved the quinoa risotto, so flavorful and nourishing. They also have great drinks - I keep getting the blueberry and pear licuado with a splash of coconut milk - which is great but they do add sugar. They also gave us a sample of one of their drinks with rose hips which I can't wait to go back to order. This was a terrible dining experience from food to the service. I was so excited to try it because of the positive reviews. From the moment we walked in, the servers treated us as an inconvenience. We were late for the full lunch menu (even though it wasn't the advertised in the hours). No problem, we ordered from the limited menu. Two sandwiches came, without the water we ordered. The bread was so dry and hard. The ingredients were a mushy texture and one was oddly sweet. I ate about 1/4 of mine. When we went to pay, the girl at the counter literally frowned at us the entire time. It was troublesome that she never showed us the check and just rolled her eyes when we asked if the water had been included. Just plain rude. I'm only in Buenos Aires for 10 days and completely regret spending any of my time, especially a meal, here. I am absolutely in love with this place. Where do I start? ...They bring you a little dish of hummus and a basket of gluten free breads/crackers of various types to start as well as a sample of their rosehip tea. Both are a really lovely way to warm up your palette for what will be an incredibly flavorful and delicious meal. My boyfriend and I shared the Full Amino Acid Salad and the Risotto de Arroz Yamani del Curry. We are both from San Francisco where there are A LOT of vegetarians and vegans and we both felt this meal was better than any we had tried at one of SF's numerous veggie restaurants. Not only was the food presented beautifully, but it was genuinely a playground of complimentary flavors and textures. We also got to try some things we had not ever had before, like smoked cashew cream; again, delicious. Lastly, the portions are very generous and not in a way that means they are loaded with "filler" things. Calming, rustic-modern decor. It does not look at all like the older photos on a yelp, they must have renovated! Simple vegetable-based meals packed with delightful flavors. The menu was organized by nutritional content essentially, like Protein or Omega 3 salad for example. They served Sunflower seed GF crackers with a sprinkling of paprika, flax, chia and salt with hummus. They give large portions! So it may be best to share unless you want para llevar (take out). The lemonade juices were so refreshing in the humidity. They had a lovely mercantile section as well with select natural toiletries, organic Yerba mate and blends to accompany it, fruit spreads, and so much more. They also had beautiful handmade chocolates - as well as adorable kitchen hardware and earthenware. They will buzz you in, and can provide a menu in English sí usted necesita. What a nice healthy change of pace from the meat-based dishes that are the cultural norm. My gut thanks them. read more
