These folks were on time, communicative all throughout the process, they were fast and not one of my items was damaged. On top of that they were so friendly and fun. Moving Day can be stressful and they eliminated all my anxiety. (And their rates are very reasonable.) I'm recommending them to everyone I know.

At the time, my experience was less than 5 stars: he was late and unresponsive to his phone, and his partner was a heavier dude who was not well-suited for the three flights of stairs at my moving destination. (It actually seemed like I did more moving there than he did.) But Federico himself hustled and grew on me enough to help offset those things. At the time, he had only a few reviews. Wanting to give him more traction and support an upstart, I left a 5-star review. In return, he promised a discount on my next move. Fast forward to September 2020. We set up a move for 9/12 and he gives me a nice rate. I request a different partner who can handle the stairs better and he obliges. That week, the wildfires hit with off-the-charts hazardous air quality (400+ AQI). I felt bad using movers in these conditions -- it didn't seem right. Since I had the luxury of being able to push my move back a week, I decided that was better. I tell him on 9/10, 48 hours before the move, that I want to push it out a week and that I didn't want to subject either of us to these conditions. He says no problem. That was the last I heard from him. I messaged him twice afterwards, on 9/11 and 9/13, and left a voicemail. No response. Apparently, I'm not worth his time anymore. I suspect using the heavier/slower guy may be part of his cost model and how he charges lower rates. Now I'm scrambling with four days to go... for being nice? Both in leaving a 5-star review that was a little generous, and for thinking of him and his crew's health during our Venusian air quality? Screw me, right? Ultimately, you get what you pay for -- if reliability is what you're after, Sanchez Moves to the left.

My relationship with Master Movers is extensive, nuanced & complex. I hope that you will see my…read moreeffort to be honest, clear, fair & genuine. CONTEXT While going through a horrible divorce, I needed to move my belongings from my home before my then-husband (who was Deputy Attorney General) stopped me. In that moment, Master Movers saved the day. At the time, life was chaotic (2009 financial crisis, prolonged divorce, stolen bank accounts, rising rents in Portland, etc...) I moved multiple times in 3 years. Again...Master Movers really stepped up and did an amazing job. They were: 1. On time 2. Reliable 3. Fast 4. Helpful 5. Cautious 6. Discreet 7. Responsive For many reasons, my living situation changed (on average every 12 - 14 months). Given my early positive experiences, I never hesitated to contact Master Movers. Sarah, the Office Manager (and all around groove dog) was ALWAYS there for me. She was one of the few people I could rely on.... I began to have serious concerns when I used them for a move in 2015. I had everything packed (unlike some previous moves), the distance was about 2.4 miles, the move was 1st floor to 1st floor, I promised the movers generous cash tips if they stayed on task, I had all entrances open at new location for movers, etc. Basically, I did everything possible to make the move fast, easy & simple. Tragically, the movers, for whatever reason, couldn't complete a move (of a 1 bedroom apartment) in under 6 hours. It was discouraging, but I wrote it off as an anomaly. Fast forward 3 years when I decided to flee Portland. I made a rash decision by selecting a Self-Storage facility to store my belongings (and in retrospect it wasn't safe, secured, monitored by cameras, well-staffed, etc....) so I paid Master Movers for that initial move to this storage unit. Tragically, after reporting repeated security violations to the Self-Storage facility (and being denied insurance), I knew that I had made a rash decision & needed to once again move my belongings to a safer storage facility. I called Master Movers & they informed me that THEY had secure, safe, climate controlled storage! WOW! I was thrilled.... Made the appointment, met the movers, assisted with labeling of boxes, bought them lunch, etc... and assumed it would take AT MOST 3 hours to move my belongings (WHICH WERE ALREADY BOXED, LABELED & ORGANIZED) down to the truck and move it 3/4 of a mile! IT TOOK THE MOVERS OVER 8 HOURS! NOT ONLY THAT THEY BROKE MY BELOVED RETRO COFFEE TABLE. And, when the movers FINALLY got my belongings to the so-called SAFE, SECURE, WEATHER-SAFE location, I saw that there was nothing! Not only that, they arbitrarily charged me for boxes that I didn't need ($185.00 or more). The owner of Master Movers was at the location (which was promised to provide me safe, easy access to my belongings) drops another bomb shell that my belongings needed more space than planned. GREAT! How much more money do you want? Then, he denies that his mover had broken one of my beloved pieces of furniture. Then i learn that I cannot access my belongings when I may want or need. OH! It gets better! I find out, of course, after my belongings are there, that it is going to cost me $200.00/month for storage that isn't weather resistant & that I will have to schedule a time to access my belongings up to one month in advance! At this point, I am SO angry! I have helped this business owner make AT LEAST $10,000.00 in the last 8 years! He knew who I was. He knew what a loyal customer I had been. He knew that I frequently called the mover's parole officer's (that Chris, the owner, hired) to help them out. He knew how generous I was with tips, food, lunch, recommendations, etc. and YET. And, YET he refuses to even compensate me for the moving boxes. So, thanks for reading...if you've gotten this far. All I can say is that I feel betrayed, taken advantage of, used, exploited & disrespected. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Hold movers & company accountable. 2. Chris, stop being arrogant (or consider selling the company) 3. Give Sarah a raise or she will go elsewhere 4. Treat people with kindness rather than as ATM's (that message is for Chris)

Based on his recommendation, I agreed to have the circulation pump and motor assembly replaced. Mr. Lee performed the work for $375.00 on 10/8/2021 (I paid in full via Venmo on 10/7/2021). Once completed he told me the dishwasher was tested and free of leaks. Later that day on 10/8/2021 I started the dishwasher and almost immediately water began pouring onto my kitchen floor from the bottom and around the sides of the dishwasher door. Water even trickled beneath the dishwasher, through the subfloor, and onto the ceiling and down the walls of the basement located directly beneath our kitchen. I contacted Mr. Lee asking for a refund. He said he would provide a refund if I turned over the new motor/pump assembly. On 10/9/2021 I removed the motor/pump assembly from the dishwasher and left it on my front porch for pick up. Also, on 10/9/2021, I went to Lowe's and bought a new dishwasher due the stress the leaking dishwasher put on my family. On 10/10/2021, Mr. Lee stopped by my house without knocking on my door, picked up the new motor/pump, and later texted me saying I had given him the old and bad motor/pump assembly original to my dishwasher, and he said he would not be refunding my money. This is not correct. I just bought a new dishwasher; I do not have a need for dishwasher parts for a dishwasher I just replaced. There is no advantage to me keeping parts from Mr. Lee for a dishwasher I no longer need. Regardless, I then offered the old motor/pump via text message, and I placed the motor/pump assembly on my porch for pick up to try to get a refund. At this point, Mr. Lee stopped communicating with me. The last communication I have with Mr. Lee is 11:02 am Pacific on 10/10/2021. Mr. Lee does not take my phone calls nor my text messages. On 10/11/2021, I drove to Diversified's Hillsboro office, knocked on the door (no one answered), and left the old pump at his office doorstep. I have still not received my refund that he agreed to. Please contact me with any questions; I'd be happy to discuss any of this. Since Mr. Lee's primary form of communication is text message I have a detailed transcript including dates and timestamps of everything including his agreement to a refund on which he reneged. I also have pictures of the part(s) in question. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) Consumer Protection and filed complaints. Both agencies acknowledged my concerns and are investigating the matter.

Rose City Storage is a sad sad story. I don't know what happened. Perhaps they have been bought out by venture capital who installed new management, but they have done a complete 180 and are now a completely different experience: predatory billing, "gotcha" rent increases, (three a year! And over 20% increases each time). I had been a long term customer (Hey, we all need storage!) And being a customer of Rose City Storage has gone from being a dream to a nightmare. Someone on this account tried to say that I am "confused" with another business-- nope! Not confused at all and I have all the rent increases and predatory billing documented if anyone wants to see it. I used to recommend you guys and now I will tell everyone the way you now do business. You can't rest on your former reviews when you used to treat your customers well. Edit: I just read a few recent "positive" reviews of this place and, if you dig a bit on the "review accounts" they are clearly using fake accounts to review themselves positively. But I imagine lying and cheating with fake reviews is what you have to do if as a business you implement policies that screw people over. Not a very productive business model. Honestly, Rose City Storage, I've gotta say as a formerly happy customer who you have REALLY let down, I'm not mad I'm just really really disappointed at what you have become. Just FYI: I know you think that as a storage facility you have people "stuck" and you can then exploit them. But being unethical jerks just doesn't fly in a town like Portland. Word gets around.
