I rented through Budget, but the Avis desk handled the rental setup. Though there were some hiccups…read morein getting an acceptable car, both reps I dealt with handled things in a professional and friendly manner. My company had reserved a compact car, and I was first offered a Kia Soul. I hate that case - it's like driving a cardboard box, and I said as much to the Avis rep. She laughed and agreed, then checked their inventory and offered me a Ford Fusion Hybrid. Fantastic! I signed the paperwork, too the keys and walked out to the lot to find the car. When I found it, the rear was dirty, like the car wash had totally missed it, but I want to concerned about that. I loaded luggage into the trunk and then went to get into the car. I opened the door and was hit with a wave stale cigarette smoke mixed with bad sure freshener - like someone had been smoking in the car and sprayed perfume to cover it up. Yuck! I retrieved my luggage from the trunk and went back into the airport - no way I could drive that car for the week. The nice man who was now at the Avis counter was named Kurt. He was very apologetic about the condition of the car, said he would personally check it out and charge the prior renter a proper cleaning fee to get the car back to condition, stating that was an unacceptable condition for the case to be in. He offered me a Prius as an alternate, and even offered to have it brought up to the terminal door for me. Despite the poor condition of the Fusion, both reps worked to get me into a car that was suitable for me, and I appreciate their willingness to do so. Overall, a minor frustration that was handled well be reps who seemed to actually care about my experience.

0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! I experienced extreme prejudice and was continually lied to !! Erin the…read morereceptionist was rude and made up multiple "policies" so I wouldn't be able to rent. When asked to show me said policies were, she couldn't show me where ANYTHING was written (Because she made them up). I've rented from Avis in the past and never experienced anything like this before. I knew exactly what I needed to rent. I asked to speak to the manager (I believe her name was Jessica or Jasmine) and I specifically asked what I need and she stated my flight itinerary, which I had. However, Erin intervened and refuse to rent to me. I waited for almost two hours and saw that I was treated vastly different from the white customers, she didn't make them jump through hoops or ask a million questions. It's very heartbreaking and shameful

Apparently you have to leave at least 1 star to leave a review. We reserved a car and called and…read moretalked to them twice since the flight was scheduled to arrive shortly after their scheduled weekend 6pm closing time. They assured us both times that they stay regularly when they have rental coming in on a scheduled flight. Since it was the largest flight of the day rather than a commuter flight we believed them. Arrived in Peoria ahead of time but the Alamo didn't remember us. Not a soul could be found. When asked about where they might be, a number of different airport employees laughed that this happens every weekend since Alamo doesn't wait. Avis/ Budget went out of their way to save us and even gave us a better deal.

I would give half a star if I could. I attempted to pick up our car on Tuesday and was greeted by…read morethe manager who was ok. Alamo has a rental policy that you need** to have a credit card on file in order to rent with them. This wasn't made extremely clear on booking.com but after I figured it out it was fine. The guy gives me a key (one key. I was told people keep the second ones or it was lost or whatever) to a 2019 Yukon slt. I get to the car and the charging ports don't work and it reeks like weed. The oil light was also on. I went back in and told him and he gave me keys to a Nissan Armada. I go out the oil light is on and that one smells like cigarettes. I do back in and am told they only have those 2 options in large suvs and that no one else ( in Chicago or otherwise) has any available. He then said that they changed the oil on both cars 2 days prior and asked me to reset the oil life light. I didn't because it's not my job, and I don't know if it's even true. We ended up taking the Yukon because we were going to the mountains and we're afraid of the snow. We called customer service and they were equally as unhelpful. Apparently no where in the continental USA are there actually Tahoe or similar suvs available to trade the one they rented us out for. My husband spent most of the night trying to get the smell of weed out of the car and finding us battery pack chargers. The guy at the desk could only offer us 10% off of our bill which honestly for the headaches and car sickness I suffered due to the smells wasn't really enough.
