Hampton Inn & Suites Manchester - Guest room

    Hampton Inn & Suites Manchester

BEWARE! EXPECT ADDITIONAL CHARGES AT CHECK IN. We booked a…read moreroom through the Hilton app for Thanksgiving night at the Manchester, TN Hampton Inn. The online rate for the reservation was $149. I checked the box that I had pets and added the note that I had 2 dogs. There was no pet fee added to the reservation on the app total for the stay. On Thanksgiving, when I arrived for my stay, the front desk agent, Mel, told me my total was $400. I said no - it's $150. She then told me that they charge a $125 per pet fee for bringing pets on the premises. I pointed out that I had included them on the reservation and it wasn't disclosed there and so I would like them to honor the reservation total I booked. She then proceeded to tell me that I could pay the fee or go find a different hotel. I asked if she would be cancelling my reservation then so I would not be charged for the room. She told me no, they would bill me the $150 whether I stayed with them or not because I was past the cancellation window. After much arguing she agreed to charge only $125 for a pet fee and so we ended up paying over $275 for a $150 reservation. Oh - and those 2 free waters you are supposed to get as a Hilton Honors member ....those cost me $8 at this hotel too. According to Mel, they don't participate in most of the Hilton Honors perks and it's their right not to. I called Hilton Honors customer support and Tiara informed me that they allow their operators to tack on additional fees for an abundance of things, which are not disclosed on their app when you make reservations and individual locations can tack on once you are on site. The only way to find out total fees is to call the hotel and specifically ask about their additional fees. Apparently it's a loophole they know some of their operators take great advantage of and they allow it. This is apparently one of those locations. BEWARE. Be prepared for a "bait and switch" that neither Hilton or this Hampton Inn location has any remorse at all about pulling on their customers. They are determined to take your $ - whether you stay with them or not.

Warning: they strictly observe their no late cancelation policy. I called earlier in the day to…read morecancel due to testing positive for COVID, but they refused to waive the bill for the evening even though Hilton corporate intervened to request it due to my being a longstanding Hilton Honors member.

I made reservation for two King rooms at The La Quinta Inn & Suites for the night on the road. On arrival we checked in. We were greeted by a very nice woman at the desk, The hotel seems reasonably new. The lobby was clean and inviting with seating, large tv, and fireplace. Our check-in was easy and quick, and made us feel welcome. The extremely nice woman at the desk made sure we were well taken care of. When I asked for restaurant recommendations for non-chain restaurants, she took time to give us a lot of options to choose from. Our king rooms were very nice. All of the necessary needs we look for in a room. Comfy king bed with soft comfortable pillows and linens, electrical outlets on the bedside tables, USB ports for charging electronics, refrigerator, etc. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower with plenty of soft towels. Iron/board, hair dryer for our convenience. My only negative about the room was that there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Breakfast was pretty standard, Fruit cereal, waffles, bread and bagels, juices and milk, and sausage, biscuits, and gravy. Not fancy but tasty and well managed by their staff. The hotel has all your basic needs . . . pool, nice little gym with machines, business center, plus a really great, friendly, caring staff. Fair and competitive price too. Kudos to the staff! They do need more than one luggage cart (that doesn't have flat tires) :)

Ledford Mill Bed and Breakfast - Rock wall in the creek room

    Ledford Mill Bed and Breakfast

Last Christmas my boyfriends mum bought us a gift card to stay one night at the Ledford Mill Bed…read moreand Breakfast in Wartrace Tennessee. We ended up redeeming the card on my Birthday in March. We hadn't really been on vacation since the previous Fall so we were excited about spending a night away from the same old, same old. The mill is not hard to get to, between Nashville, just past Shelbyville and before Tullahoma. If you're looking for an alternative to the tourist hotels in nearby Lynchburg you may want to consider the mill as your overnight location. We arrived later in the evening, probably after 4 in fact, and were greeted by Inn owner John Spear. He was just about to take one of the other guests on a tour of the mill, so we joined them! Everything was explained in detail, where the all access kitchen was, how our bathroom had all the original mill nuts, bolts, gears and wheels. We stayed in the Creek room, which has it's own private deck looking out of the woods, and is bigger than any hotel room I've ever stayed in. It has a giant clawfoot tub and the lofted area for the bed is built right in to the rock wall. This room and the Falls room are on the first level. The second level is an antique shop and the mills kitchen and dining area. The third level is Loft another guest room has it's own balcony. We were introduced to Tom Cruise. Yes Tom Cruise...the mill cat. An ancient feline who calls the mill home. He spent the entire night with us in our bedroom sleeping on the rug. If you don't like cats, it's easy enough to shove him out. We settled in for the night. The mill does not have television, dvds, or internet. It's quiet, extremely quiet. They do offer a vcr and television in each room and have a library of old VHS to pick from. We ended up using the claw foot tub, making ourselves dinner in the funky old kitchen and hanging out with Tom. The next morning I saw an owl flying around when I got up super early to the use the bathroom. There I am peeing and an owl is flying around the woods outside the window! We asked to have breakfast around 8am and right on time, John and his wife Mildred had cooked up some breakfast for everyone upstairs. A cheesy potato sausage dish, corn fritters and pineapple. Mildred is one of the funniest people I've ever met. The Spears are wonderful welcoming people with a wealth of knowledge about the area the mill is located in. After a lengthy breakfast discussion we went outside to explore the grounds. Tom Cruise followed us. We took the garden path from our back deck, that leads to the waterfall. The mill sits in a gully that stays quite cool in the hot months, and is situated over a creek. The creek flows through a wild garden area that leads to a huge rock waterfall. It's absolutely gorgeous, although I've added pictures to this review, I really think you have to go and see it for yourself. It's one of the more unique places I've ever been to, let alone slept in. I mean common an old mill, turned in to a bed and breakfast?! Super cool. PS. I heard recently that old Tom Cruise disappeared this past summer, and although he's done that before, they think this time it's for good. Maybe he went back to Hollywood.

I had asked her numerous times to marry me and she finally granted my wish. That vision of her lovely form framed by the beauty of the waterfall will forever be etched into my mind. We stayed the night in the establishment and it was quite comfortable. The antique mill equipment and decorations were very interesting. I will definitely stay here many more times in the future. Thank you so much for your hospitality and generosity.
