We stayed the night on Thursday June 4 - it was hot and stuffy all night even though we turned the A/C down; finally setting it to 67°, and the fan turned from 'AUTO' to 'ON', with no result. After a poor night's rest, on the morning of the 5th, I found a bedbug crawling through the sheets. I trapped the bug under a plastic cup, and my husband went down to the front desk to notify the attendant. Housekeeping members were sent to take a look, and confirmed it was a bedbug. One of the women said to the other that, "I told them there were bedbugs" in a neighboring room, but that nothing had ever been done (?!!!). I subsequently went and spoke with the front desk attendant myself, who took my name and phone number, and assured me that she had also texted the manager (offsite at the time) who would be following up with me. We left stressed, with ALL our belongings in trash bags, in hopes of not transferring any bedbugs to our home. The hotel was fully booked at the time of our stay, and who knows how widespread the issue is, or how many people may have unwittingly carried off bugs to their next destination. My family is now on pins and needles, worrying that we may have brought back bedbugs that we will continue to incur expense and stress dealing with. Two days went by with zero follow-up from management, so I AGAIN called and spoke with the same front desk attendant. She told me that "my manager won't be back on site until Wednesday". I asked her again to urgently relay the message that we wanted to be contacted ASAP. On Tuesday morning, when there was still no reply, I contacted Budget Host International's main customer service line in Texas. The person I spoke with also tried calling, was unable to reach a manager directly, and requested a call back to the corporate office. (*As of this morning, Friday June 12, she also has not been responded to.) Also on Tuesday morning, I sent a lengthy email to the attention of the manager. On Tuesday night I finally received a very brief reply that was essentially an excuse about the non-communication and a statement that they have a 3rd party pest control company investigating, and that, "I have issued a partial refund". There was no name or job title attached, and we have received NO refund, partial or otherwise, nor is anything pending on the credit card that was used for our stay. There was also NO apology for our experience. UNBELIEVABLE. I would expect any hotel to be all the way on top of any bedbug complaint with quick response and robust damage control. I have worked in customer service and administration for thirty years, and cannot believe the poor maintenence, unprofessionalism and outright dishonesty of this place. I tried to give management time to properly handle this before leaving negative feedback, but after a week of runaround, I am done. It's a disgrace how carelessly this place is run. AVOID! read more

Downtown with easy access to snowmobile trail. Rooms are clean and spacious. The pool and hot tub are great and well maintained. I've been here for years I'm the only thing that's declined is the breakfast. The potatoes were great but no longer on the menu. No sausage or other meat at breakfast either. They ran out of bananas by 9 AM. The breakfast room staff is constantly cleaning up after you and keeping it immaculate. That is a huge bonus of this hotel compared to others. read more

I'm definitely down to give this hotel five stars. I've stayed a lot of places across this country, Mexico and Canada, and this is one of my favorite hotels. We got a room with a jacuzzi and it's one the cleanest rooms l've ever stayed in. The hotel has an awesome pool AND hot tub.. and if you travel much, you know that hot tubs are hard to find since Covid started. The front desk attendant, Jennifer, is AMAZING. She totally hooked us up. She's been treating us like we're the only guests in the hotel. There's also a pretty sick game room that has a couple of pinball machines, a racing game, air hockey, Pac-Man and a few others. All of the games and vending machines work perfectly... which is also hard to find. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. I'd wait to review the hotel until after breakfast in the morning, but I'm sure it won't change my mind. My family of five is currently staying here on our mini vacation. This particular hotel is one of the only hotels in the area that can accommodate five people in a room. The room we are staying in is like a mini condo. It has a good size bathroom, the vanity area is outside of the bathroom with two full sinks and plenty of counter space. The bedrooms themselves are great. One room has one bed, while the other bedroom has two beds. We also have a pullout couch bed. The living area and both bedrooms have a TV in them, with an extensive channel listing. We also have a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave in our room. The breakfast is served 7am-10am everyday. Lots of variety to choose from. Cereal, eggs, sausage/bacon, muffins, donuts and much more. Quite a few tables to sit at as well. While I didn't use the fitness area, the room was very clean, new looking machines and even had a refillable water station. There's also a little children's playground outside and a pool and hot tub inside. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and no noise despite the hotel being full capacity. Can't beat how clean everything has been too! read more

I made a reservation in February for July and never got a confirmation. I thought that was weird.. but I called again late February to adjust the reservation and move our dates by only a few days. We wanted "the big suite" room 105 for our 5 people and 2 dogs and was excited when they said that we would have that same room for the days I requested to change it to. Well I called a few days before our departure and they said the reservation was never changed. Again - never getting a confirmation I didn't think much of it. But now the "reservation" I thought I had for 5 months was useless because they didn't even offer any type of solution. I thought maybe they could have offered 2 rooms at a discount rate or try to find us somewhere at a different hotel. They basically told us "well it's taken" and I cancelled the reservation after talking to 2 different people on 2 different days. Very disappointed. read more

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The rates were really good, it's one of the only dog friendly properties around, and it was literally walking distance from the ferry port. I really loved the jacuzzi tub in the room too! Parking was a little tight when we returned around 10pm, and we didn't try the breakfast so I can't comment on that. Literally the ONE thing we didn't like was that the pillows were really uncomfortable, definitely not soft at all but for one night it was fine. The staff was always super friendly and accommodated our request for early check-in. They also helped us out when we totally forgot to bring a wine key! They had one at the front desk. Overall an amazing 5 star experience and I am sure any time we are in town we would only want to stay here! read more

Yes, I'm giving a motel a 5 star rating. I'm going to sing their praises for the rest of my life. Here's why: We had reservations at the KOA campground over the 4th and needless to say it was a disaster and we left and cancelled our reservation. All the campgrounds in town were either booked or never called us back. What to do with a camper, 2 kids, and a dog? Thank God for the Budget Host. We were able to get a reservation on short notice and they are pet friendly! And our room was NICE. And super clean! And they had plenty of parking for our camper! We had to switch rooms after the first night and the second room wasn't as modern as the first one but it was still super clean and we didn't even care. Good complimentary breakfast that varied from day to day: muffins, donuts, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, toast, cereal and decent coffee. They have a heated indoor pool, game room, and fitness room. Short walk to the ferry dock. I would definitely come back! read more

As a family of 4 with 2 dogs we stayed in their 2 and 3 room suites. The rooms were very clean, spacious and well organized. There was even a perfect little grass are for the dogs to do their business. The breakfast was nice including biscuts/gravey, various cereals, waffles, yogurt, etc. All one would need for a good breakfast. The pool is large in size and clean. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice reasonably priced place to stay. We will definitely be back. read more

Don't let the name "Budget Host" steer you away...the rooms have been updated, are clean and the staff is friendly. Walking distance to restaurants. I travel for work and like clean, updated, newer hotels (typically higher end chain hotels). I have to admit I'm bit of a hotel snob and this hotel is just as nice as the one's I normally stay at. I stayed here for one night after taking an impromptu road trip to the UP. Nightly no advance rate for a King room was $108.00, which I thought was a good deal in mid-August, but it probably helped that I stayed on a week night, and not a weekend night. There are cheaper motels in St. Ignace, but I liked that this hotel was walking distance to a bar and grille, and it looked very clean. Most rooms also have a small balcony; Room 211 did not have a balcony but did have a huge Jacuzzi spa tub in the center of the room which was slightly strange. But the room was very clean, as was the hotel very clean over all. There was a pool and a hot tub, as well as a hot breakfast (egg patties, sausage, potatoes, gravy, biscuits, and hot/cold cereals) at no extra charge, and I think WiFi was free. First thing I do when I arrive at a hotel is to check for bed bugs and I found none which is a plus. The room was clean, and we saw staff scrubbing baseboards and other finishings in the hallways. The room was much more modern than we expected, and we had a little patio area connected to our room. There was free breakfast, nothing fancy, but it was free and saved us some money. They had waffles, bagels, cereal, yogurt, muffins and boiled egg. The pool was a touch cold, but the kids didn't mind. The chlorine was overwhelming (the smell and it burned your eyes by the time you were done swimming). Overall we had a nice stay and would stay again. read more

Must stay here if in St Ignace. Second floor rooms overlook the water and on Saturday night in the summer fireworks shot off at 1000. Fabulous show right in front of our room. Great thoughtful amenities not mentioned in their descriptions but helpful was lamps with extra internet charging stations. A cool wall lamp with adjustable pin light reading and a hand wash hanger with a nice glass shelf to keep your sink area uncluttered. Clean room, roomy room and very nice people work there. Just steps away from the Mackinaw Island Ferry docks and downtown St. Ignace. They have a nice indoor pool as well. My only suggestion would be to get a 2nd floor room, as you can hear every footstep above you if you're on the ground floor. Crawled into St. Ignace at 1 AM on the night of the Mackinac Island Fudge Festival, which we weren't even attending. A few hours earlier we'd managed to reserve the king jacuzzi suite at the Budget Host Inn, which was a small miracle given everywhere else was booked. They must've had a cancellation. We were too beat to use the jacuzzi but this place really did exceed expectations-- clean room, courteous staff, a nice comfortable genuine king bed, good wifi, good accessories in the room. The view out our window was a parking lot but otherwise these were fine accommodations. Noise levels were not a problem though I think the people in the adjacent suite may've been using their jacuzzi at 2 AM. The hot breakfast the next morning had decent choices but I would've preferred some fresh fruit to the tropical fruit cocktail which contained things I am allergic to. I stuck to biscuits and gravy which was pretty nice-- the biscuits had a good texture (though they were cold), and the gravy was tasty. Only because a five star is traditionally given to fine hotels I gave four stars to budget host. The suite was great with a huge hot ton in the room to fit four people. It was just what we needed after four days of camping. I would say this was modest luxury A nice sofa bed in the adjacent room. Very clean and quiet place. $114.00 was reasonable with jacuzzi in the short high summer season. Breakfast was acceptable but free breakfast pm the road are not great. We would stay here Again. St of mace has many motels that have odes down and several other that should. This one will be around a while for its great service moderate price, great comfort and cleanliness. We didn't use the indoor pool but come fall if we come to the UP it will be a plus to stay here read more

I just spent a long weekend at this hotel. I really appreciated how clean my room was. There is a heated pool and hot tub that were adequate. This is not high tourism season for that area, but the hotel was quiet and there were not a lot of rowdy, partying type people staying there. The room I rented had a king size bed and an in room jacuzzi that was very nice. All in all a very pleasant long weekend. My one word of warning is that my room looked over the back parking lot. There are rooms with small balconies in front that over look St. Ignace harbor with Mackinac Island in the background. It would be best to specify a room with a view of the lake/harbor as that would be a very nice perk. read more

first let me start off by saying the room interior, very clean and nice. However, we were on our way back from lake superior and googled hotels in St.Ignace, we found this hotel that advertises a beautiful view of the lake and the Mackinac bridge. When we got to the hotel and checked in we got to our room and our "amazing view" as the woman at the counter also stated on the phone, we had a view of the parking lot and if you peered between the buildings across the street you could see the water still no view of the bridge though!!! read more
