Clean new fitness equipment. Very clean room.

My family of five is currently staying here on our mini vacation. This particular hotel is one of the only hotels in the area that can accommodate five people in a room. The room we are staying in is like a mini condo. It has a good size bathroom, the vanity area is outside of the bathroom with two full sinks and plenty of counter space. The bedrooms themselves are great. One room has one bed, while the other bedroom has two beds. We also have a pullout couch bed. The living area and both bedrooms have a TV in them, with an extensive channel listing. We also have a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave in our room. The breakfast is served 7am-10am everyday. Lots of variety to choose from. Cereal, eggs, sausage/bacon, muffins, donuts and much more. Quite a few tables to sit at as well. While I didn't use the fitness area, the room was very clean, new looking machines and even had a refillable water station. There's also a little children's playground outside and a pool and hot tub inside. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and no noise despite the hotel being full capacity. Can't beat how clean everything has been too!

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The rates were really good, it's one of the only dog friendly properties around, and it was literally walking distance from the ferry port. I really loved the jacuzzi tub in the room too! Parking was a little tight when we returned around 10pm, and we didn't try the breakfast so I can't comment on that. Literally the ONE thing we didn't like was that the pillows were really uncomfortable, definitely not soft at all but for one night it was fine. The staff was always super friendly and accommodated our request for early check-in. They also helped us out when we totally forgot to bring a wine key! They had one at the front desk. Overall an amazing 5 star experience and I am sure any time we are in town we would only want to stay here!

Yes, I'm giving a motel a 5 star rating. I'm going to sing their praises for the rest of my life. Here's why: We had reservations at the KOA campground over the 4th and needless to say it was a disaster and we left and cancelled our reservation. All the campgrounds in town were either booked or never called us back. What to do with a camper, 2 kids, and a dog? Thank God for the Budget Host. We were able to get a reservation on short notice and they are pet friendly! And our room was NICE. And super clean! And they had plenty of parking for our camper! We had to switch rooms after the first night and the second room wasn't as modern as the first one but it was still super clean and we didn't even care. Good complimentary breakfast that varied from day to day: muffins, donuts, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, toast, cereal and decent coffee. They have a heated indoor pool, game room, and fitness room. Short walk to the ferry dock. I would definitely come back!

Don't let the name "Budget Host" steer you away...the rooms have been updated, are clean and the staff is friendly. Walking distance to restaurants. I travel for work and like clean, updated, newer hotels (typically higher end chain hotels). I have to admit I'm bit of a hotel snob and this hotel is just as nice as the one's I normally stay at. I will be choosing to stay here on all my upcoming business trips!

I stayed here for one night after taking an impromptu road trip to the UP. Nightly no advance rate for a King room was $108.00, which I thought was a good deal in mid-August, but it probably helped that I stayed on a week night, and not a weekend night. There are cheaper motels in St. Ignace, but I liked that this hotel was walking distance to a bar and grille, and it looked very clean. Most rooms also have a small balcony; Room 211 did not have a balcony but did have a huge Jacuzzi spa tub in the center of the room which was slightly strange. But the room was very clean, as was the hotel very clean over all. There was a pool and a hot tub, as well as a hot breakfast (egg patties, sausage, potatoes, gravy, biscuits, and hot/cold cereals) at no extra charge, and I think WiFi was free. Nice hotel and I would stay here again.

You will not be disappointed staying here. Very Clean Rooms and No Noise (Thursday Night July 16th) Friendly Night Staff. Just steps away from the Driftwood Restaurant. Enjoy your stay!

It isn't modern, but it is relatively clean, and the breakfast is splendid for the price.

Every surface was cleaned and wiped, even the corners of the room were vacuumed. No signs of bugs besides the ones outside. Very kind staff and the breakfast was good with great hours. They served the usual continental breakfast fare - waffles (including a mini waffle machine!), eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, coffee, juice, fruit, mini muffins. Our economy room had two queen beds, a refrigerator, microwave with a terrace overlooking the pool. Our room was dated but very clean, quiet and sufficient for two nights. Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. There was an indoor & an outdoor pool, coin operated washing machines, fitness center, nightly bonfire and playground on the premises. A golf cart shuttled seniors & children around the property.

I had the whitefish for dinner with potato puree and garlic green beans. It was very good. I would recommend. We also started with the Yucatan shrimp which was full of flavor. Honestly I didn't go in to my stay here with the highest expectations, but I was very impressed with the service at the hotel and restaurant as well as the cleanliness of our room. Lots of friendly smiling and welcoming staff. The bed was very comfortable and the beach is dynamic. Perfect view of Lake Huron, and very enjoyable day or night. We had the breakfast both mornings of our stay, and I can only give that 2 stars. It was ok. Felt like a typical "breakfast included" kind of deal. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. The food was 2 stars. Just basic. Coffee was great and like I said I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. I will definitely consider staying here again because the views and beach were gorgeous, the clean rooms and friendly staff are so important, and you're a hop, skip and a jump from Shepherd's Ferry to Mackinac Island from the hotel.

"In and around the lake Mountains come out of the sky and…read morethey stand there" (Yes) What a pleasant surprise! The Holiday Inn Express at St. Ignace sure didn't feel like a Holiday Inn Express. First of all, it has a beach, a big grassy communal courtyard, and chairs where you can sit at the waterline and listen to the seagulls that chitter and chatter like crazy. The beach scenery is gorgeous, and the views of the bay and Mackinac Island are gorgeous. The beds are comfy, the HVC and Wi-Fi work great, and the shower may have been the best hotel shower I ever had. Super pressure and plenty of hot water. Oh, and we had a balcony with a great view of the beach and the courtyard. But the biggest surprise was the amazing breakfast variety and the stellar breakfast service by Sheila and Melissa. They ran around at full speed, cleaning, wiping, refilling and straightening non-stop. As for the breakfast foods, there was a bounty of egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, turkey and pork sausage links, biscuits and gravy, a pancake machine, Cereals, Yogurt, gooey Cinnamon buns, Oatmeal, breads, muffins, bagels, apples, oranges, bananas, and more. Our two-night stay cost us $540.50 after taxes. We could not have been happier with our stay here. Five stars all the way.

Spotted a long black hair in toilet area stuck to wall, door, & hinge. The curtain over the AC needs to be shorter to not interfere with air flow & had black mold on the inner sheer one - double yuck After a long day of traveling we didn't appreciate hearing vacuuming outside our door at 730pm & than again at 930pm. Only hubs had breakfast & coffee - which he said was good & hot!! They did welcome our pet & had a great area for walking & bathroom breaks for him. I don't know what the prices were when he started coming here, but I was able to book 2 rooms for three nights for cheaper than it costs to stay on the island in one room for one night. Sorry about the flashback to math class, people, but this is an economics lesson where you'll want to pay attention. There is a log cabin kind of feel to the architecture. And, in another throwback to a bygone age, the doors use keys...actual, metal keys, not plastic cards. Outside the room, you'll find gas barbecue grills with tongs and other tools to enjoy your home away from home. While the room itself seems humble, it does contain most of the amenities you would expect. It's spacious. The beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a mini fridge, but unfortunately no microwave. And the restaurant is just a few steps away from your room, and it's excellent. One thing you would not expect, however, is a mind-boggling array of on-demand programming on your flat screen TV. Dozens of shows are available from maybe 30 different networks. And, it's no extra charge for any of it. Even if it weren't for all this, the location itself is perfect. Directly across the street are two Mackinac Island ferry terminals. I'm not exaggerating: they're literally across the street. That $27 you pay for a round-trip ticket is a heck of a lot cheaper than you would pay each day to stay on the island. Economics, people. So, go ahead and get a second mortgage to pay for a stay on the island. I will keep on coming here and enjoying all the great benefits, while also having money left over to actually pay for things to do on the island.
