So we are told that the original big draw was the Mackinac Island fudge, so we knew we had to try some while here. There were at least two fudge shops on every corner and more than one "original." Some were interesting due to large windows to view the fudge being processed on marble slabs. Some had special deals, some had attractive packaging to take home. All vying for your attention. What sold us on trying the fudge at Murray Hotel was (1) samples by the door and (2) nice cool tables (in their Mexican Cafe) to sit and enjoy the fudge and a respite from the traffic (bicycles & horses) and heat. Fudge was thick and gooey and delicious and a delight. The choices were great also, making it hard to choose. We decided on the Turtle fudge. One of the best I have tasted. I couldn't say the best in the island because I couldn't try them all. Heck, the sugar rush from 1/2 piece was enough to last me the rest of the day.

First time staying here. Very comfortable. Free donuts and coffee in am. Great location. It's an old building with creaky floors but clean. One thing I just didn't like is the constant strong smell of Mexican food from the first floor where they serve it. Good creamy fudge with a fabulous assortment of flavors and colors. Must see to believe! Nice hot tub area.

Such a wonderful place to go and get fudge, and it's truly one of the best places to get it on the island. The Mexican food here is also great as well as the customer service. Everyone is so nice every time we come! Looking forward to coming back!

The hotel was clean. The beds were comfortable. But then the tub drained backed up during my shower The three staff members that we needed to interact with were a disaster. Upon checkin, the first staff member was a bit snotty. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed that if we hadn't just been treated so wonderfully from everyone on the Shepler's Ferry. When we tried to buy fudge, the other two women couldn't interrupt their gossip session to get our order so we left. And yes, my husband spoke up to say 'could we get some of this fudge, please'. The one woman seemed to hear him as she moved her body slightly towards us... but her coworker didn't pause her story and I guess it was pretty good cuz the other one just couldn't seem to pull herself away from her coworker. There was a long pause of disbelief feom us before we walked away as the two women continued.

The hotel located right across street from the star line ferry. So very convenient! And normal check in hour are 4pm, and they allow us to check in around 12 noon which is nice. The lobby is cozy and busy, has small restaurant area, fudge area and reception area. The decorations brings you back to the old days, though it's nice. We stayed here for 2 nights. The only thing is the sheets is so thin. Next time, I'm going to bring my own bed sheet!

    Bathroom Jacuzzi

We had a small problem with the TV in the standard queen room (cheapest available) and because they did not have a solution we got upgraded to the King Deluxe Whirlpool Suite. Never have I had a problem solved so quickly and generously!

Pros: cute and quaint place to stay right in the middle of downtown. Had food options as well as fudge right in the hotel. Hot tub available off the second floor. VERY CLEAN! Polite staff. Cons: breakfast buffet was awful. Poor quality food. Worse than a free continental breakfast, but this we had to pay $10.99 each for! Plus $2 extra if we wanted juice (which was clearly mixed half with water). Hot tub was a nice amenity, but with a hotel that has as many rooms as it does, the hot tub had a sign posted it only had vacancy for 15 (!) so every time we went to go enjoy it, it was packed full. Overall; I would consider staying here again, but wouldn't waste the $ on their breakfast.

A perfect place in the most beautiful atmosphere. The Murray has everything that a perfect getaway could ever has, its old fashioned rooms are cozy and comfortable enough to forget about timing. Although it doesn't include breakfast, for ten box you can have a breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean, with a beautiful view, a tv playing "Somewhere in time "x 24 has done my staying here one of the most memorable. Don't forget the fudge at the first floor (the best in town, after trying each one)...

When I called to finalize our booking, my wife had already spoken to someone named Rose. I called back so we could both speak with her and go over a few questions before booking the room. The woman on the phone Rose was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. She explained everything clearly: when meals were served, how we could get our luggage to the hotel, and what to expect during our stay. She made such a good impression over the phone that we were really excited to stay there. Since there weren't any porters available when we arrived, we walked our bags to the hotel. It wasn't a far walk, and once we got there, we were greeted by Rose at the front desk. She checked us in, asked how many keys we wanted, and directed us to our room. The room was clean and looked just like it did online. It's an older property, so we weren't expecting a 5 start hotel, and that was fine with us. However, the first night I noticed a small spider on the bed. I didn't think much of it at first, old building, things happens. But every night after that and even during the day, I had to kill spiders. This went on every single day of our 3-night stay. My wife was terrified because she doesn't like bugs, especially ones crawling around the room. That alone made it hard for her to relax. The bed was a king, but the pillows were queen-sized and not good at all. We both left with sore necks. By the last night, we were just ready to go. Here's a quick breakdown of the pros and cons: Pros: * Great location--close to shops, restaurants, and local spots. * The staff--Rose, Norman, and everyone we encountered were incredibly welcoming and helpful. * Master SuitesRooms are spacious, and they provide plenty of towels. * Room service is available for fresh linens. * Breakfast was good, two out of the three mornings were great. * Master suites have large jetted tubs with a nice view, which is nice. Cons: * Spiders were everywhere--inside the room, around the stairwells, and all over the balcony. * The balcony was unusable because of the number of small flies and spiders outside. * The showerhead had poor pressure and didn't spray evenly. * Furniture felt old and fragile, definitely due for an update. * Pillows were uncomfortable and left us sore. * The property, while good in its age, is overpriced for how old and worn-down it is. You're not getting your money's worth in terms of comfort or amenities. If I were rating our stay based on service alone, this would be a solid 5-star review. The staff truly went above and beyond. But when adding in the condition of the property and the overall comfort of the stay, I have to give it 3 stars. The negatives outweighed the positives, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.

And remember throughout this review, the room costs $900 per night!!! This place is not a luxury resort as advertised and our "suite" was nothing more than a pretty run down Motel Six room. The check-in process is fairly complicated and throughout our stay the staff acted like they were gatekeeping information and it was a bother to provide information on check in or check out procedures. Our room #2380 was located in the Straights Building and was about a 1/8 mile uphill walk from the front desk. This caused mobility issues for my friends elderly mother in which the hotel provided no help. The room itself was an absolute disaster at about 100 ft.². For $900 a night you get three beds and one chair. When we asked for two additional chairs we were provided two folding chairs. The room itself is very dated and dirty. The tv remote was broken and the bathtub did not drain which required two maintenance men one hour to fix. There are two very noisy window air conditioner units, which will keep you up all night. We had two dogs with us so booked the "luxury "dog package, which is a total scam. It is an extra $200 per night for which they provide a plastic dog bowl. They advertise that they provide dog sitting, but when we asked about this they said to go on the Rover app and book it with a stranger. No thank you. Mission Point Resort tries to pass itself off as old school luxury. In actuality, it is just rundown, dirty and grimy for $900 a night. At this point the only fix for such a dilapidated facility would be to shut it down for several years and do a complete remodel and rehabilitation.
