We had an issue with billing, but Budget responded and made it right. Very thankful they corrected the concern.

We rented a midsize SUV and noticed right away the smell of gasoline or oil, after a couple of hours of driving we noticed it smelled worse every time we started up the car. The smell persisted and was making us sick. Budget let us trade out the car, which was done smoothly, but the location that traded out the car mentioned that this is a common issue with cars coming from the Spokane branch. Second issue with this Budget location is that we filled the tank within five miles of the airport and they charged us $20 to top off the tank. The tank gauge read that it was full, and it's bad practice to overfill the tank. All in all, a sketchy place. No issue with Budget in general, this branch is just bad. Recommend renting elsewhere if you can. read more

Rented a car Spokane airport, they gave me a beat up car with major hail damage. The gas tank was not full when I picked up the car and I did not want to go back inside to complain about it. Nevertheless, I filled the car up at a station 1/2 mile away when I returned it. They never the less charged me for additional fuel. In addition the car had several warning lights come on when I was driving it and it lost power on the freeway. It's not worth the hassle to rent a car from Budget Spokane it was truly the worst experience I have had in 25 years of business travel. I will never rent a car from Budget again. We picked up the Hybrid van at the airport and the electric was at 1%. We drove approximately 250 miles over the 4 days, and I had to refill the gas tank before returning the vehicle costing us an additional $50 on top of the $320, I paid to use the vehicle. Had Budget charged the vehicle prior to renting me the van I would not have had to use any gas. I think this practice of renting the vehicle uncharged would possibly require me to pay the $10 a gallon they would have charged me to return the vehicle had I not filled it up. Budget banks on the fact they could have possibly made an additional $100 had I not refueled the vehicle. Why else would they not have charged the vehicle? Not exactly a stellar experience. The vehicle we rented was absolutely filthy. The vehicle interior was not cleaned from the last rental. The dashboard was very dusty. Air vents were also dusty. The carpets were not even vacuumed. The storage cubbies had crumbs. And finally the windows had some sort of film and needs a good wipe down. The exterior of the vehicle was also filthy. It is evident that Budget did not clean the vehicle in between rentals. I find it ironic that there is a piece of paper guaranteeing the cleanliness of the vehicle. Driving the vehicle was another adventure. It made a weird hum at speeds above 50mph. There's some good experience out of this whole rental. The customer service counter staff was helpful and pleasant. Despite the long line, the staff member efficiently processed our rental and quickly got us on our way. My overall impression is not exactly a clean experience. Hopefully this feedback will help improve the sanitation process for this station. read more

All females: I'm 65, mother 85, aunt 89. We rented a van for lots of resting room for them. $500 for a week. Tire losing air problem from the time I left - they wanted me to drive 1 hour back to change vehicles. The leaking tire is the only one that does NOT have a valve stem cover on it. This tire has clearly been a problem for a while. No way this van was checked out before leasing it to me. Van so extremely dirty and wasn't even completely full of fuel. Called multiple times. Holding forever with weird prompts. Always end up eventually someone foreign who none of us can understand and they don't seem to understand what I am saying. Now we are on our way to visit their 96 yr. old cousin in a van with a bad tire. I travel quite a lot for business. I have for decades. This has never happened to me before. I made a reservation at a certain base rate and booked it online. I went on my trip and returned the car without any problems. When I received the invoice today, I was charged a LOT more than I had booked it for. I called the Spokane rental place three times - no answer. The phone would ring for exactly three minutes before disconnecting. There is no email address to reach out to them and no voicemail for Spokane. I finally called the customer service line and they explained that the base rate was changed to a higher rate after I booked it. They were very polite and able to honor the original base rate, but the fact that the Spokane rental won't pick up the phone and disabled the voicemail so that you can't reach them is just poor customer service. read more

We walked up to the Budget Car Rental counter and there was only one other client in the line but no one working the counter. The Avis counter next door had a long line and the guy in the front of the Budget line kind of shrug and so I walked down to one of the other counters that didn't have a line and asked "how do we get a Budget employee?" The person pointed at the Avis counter and let us know that they would help us. The customer at the front of the Budget counter looked over at the Avis counter to which the girl working the Avis counter tells him "you can get in line here". If looks could kill. So there were only two families in the Avis line, even though there were plenty of people and now this irate customer and us but we waited about 25 minutes. Its a long process to rent a car and if you get stuck with one client, well damn. By the time we got our car there was a long line of about 20 people. Don't know how many cars but I waited 25 minutes and was the 4th car rented. I hope they are all getting into one big van! read more

Make sure you check your receipt before you leave, they attempted to charge us almost $6,000 because the person who took the keys inputted the wrong mileage after we returned our car. The receipt should have only been around $480 total. They were not apologetic and gave us attitude when we asked why they charged us a ridiculous amount of money for a rental car. I had a reservation booked through a warehouse discount store and it took over 30 minutes for me to be seen while I was 3rd in line. The line behind me was practically to the rental car entrance it was moving so slow. I heard 2 of the customer service reps say "oh no, I have to start over again" while processing customers which is ridiculous. I got in the car and it had a giant chip in the windshield and sadly didn't take any photo's beforehand. There was no one around to inform of the issue and I wasn't going to wait hours getting back in line so I took off. When I returned the car I got charged for causing the chip in the windshield when it has clearly been there for some time since it was spidering. Horrible, horrible experience with budget lately, their cars are ALWAYS damaged and this location seems to be scamming people for old damage. Negative stars if I could. We were rented a very dirty (full of dog hair, including cup of kibble) car at the airport, which we fully documented. No one from the front desk walked us out to the car to co-inspect the vehicle. At return, Budget was so backed up with cars there was no check in process and we had to catch a flight. 4 weeks later and we get a bill for $450 for a cleaning fee for pet hair. Lazy and dishonest people working at Budget - clearly someone didn't check in this car correctly the first time around, and then tried to peg it on us. Better Business Bureau complaint submitted, fee contested with evidence to back up, and credit card charge blocked. Please read the other reviews of people receiving dirty cars. We arrived in Spokane late, Budget was closed so we were directed to the Avis counter for pick up. Therefore this review will be about the online reservation process and the rental return. The Budget website was rather easy to navigate, but make sure that you have the correct facility chosen for pick up. There are no individual sites for each location, just a central website for all. It was user friendly and I encountered zero hiccups. It was smooth which translated into a smooth rental pick up. Prior to returning the car I had a question that required a phone call to Budget. I called the local number listed on the facility's website, but was redirected to a nationwide central call center which was a colossal pain in the ass. It took me several calls before I could talk to an actual agent. Automated menus suck as a whole, but Budget's had seemingly endless choices. None of which pertained to my particular inquiry. Arrgh! Returning the car was nearly as easy as picking up. Nearly. I had to wait awhile staring at an unmanned counter before finally a young woman walked up and acknowledged me. She had been in the parking lot, as she told me that she saw me drive up. Seems that they should perhaps have two people on staff. I received a good car at a reasonable price. Also I received 10% back in the form of an Amazon gift card which was automatically loaded into my Amazon account. That was pretty cool. So far no horror stories of a $250 cleaning fee arriving a month later as seems to be a common theme in the one-star reviews, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. read more

I rented a SUV from Budget car rental at Spokane AirPort on May 30, 2025. When I checked out the SUV Infinity, I found a scratch on the front bumper on driver. I took a picture - of course with timestamp- of the damage , went back to Budget rentals desk, talked to the representative and showed him the picture. The budget rep told me he knew it and I was ok to use the van. On June 1st I returned the Infinity SUV to Budget at the airport. I told the Budget rep about the car damage that happened before I rented it. Shortly after I returned the car , I received an email from Budget that claimed me the car damage at the front bumper. I went back to Budget rentals desk to require this claim to be dismissed. The Budget sale rep told me he couldn't do anything to help and only gave me email address of his manager Brian Fish to contact to dismiss that wrong claim. I emailed Brian and attached the picture of the SUV I took when checking out. So far Budget did not get back to me about the claim. Budget held a deposit of $200 on top of the car rental fees. Budget was supposed to reimburse that $200 deposit right after I returned the car but they still hold it off so far. While waiting for Budget to dismiss the claim, I think y We all must be careful to rent your car from Budget to avoid same trouble like what I'm having now. After returning the car, I only had 1 hour left to board a flight to Seattle and then LAX. I did not have time to argue with Budget desk rep about that claim. My husband and I had a very bad experience with Budget at the Spokane airport. Everything went reasonably well until we arrived home from our trip and got the final bill. We were charged $350 for additional insurance, which we declined when we picked up the car. We were also charged $190 for gas even though we returned the car with the tank three quartets full. Their service representative and supervisor were both rude when we called to dispute these charges. We are now going through our credit card company to reverse these fraudulent charges. Do not rent from this company. I retuned my vehicle with no rep outside and of the of guys told me to check out inside. The front desk person handed me the bill without even telling me that he charged on over $70 bucks worth of gas when I filled up the night before. The tank was full on return and they tell me to turn in a receipt, which I didn't and now they are declining the charge because the receipt was the night before and I didn't even drive anywhere but the airport when I returned around noon. This Budget location is running a scam in charging for fuel when you return your vehicle full. Its easy to prey on distracted travelers who are eager to return their car and get to their flight. The lack of paper trail further enhances their ability to pull the wool over your eyes. Luckily for us, we had prepaid through Costco and knew exactly what our bill should have been. Once waiting to board our flight, we checked our emailed receipt and saw the extra charge for over $80. They initially hung up on my husband when he called the next day to rectify the situation. The agent initially told us it wasn't full because we had filled the tank a few miles from the gas station (???). It was past the "Full" mark when returned. Budget customer service at the counter and over the phone are horrible. We reserved a Toyota 4Runner, and when I got to the counter to pick it up, all they had was a Mitsubishi Outlander. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but we really needed something bigger than the Mitsubishi. I talked to the agent at the counter and asked if she had ANYTHING else, that we are even willing to pay for an upgrade and she informs me that there are NO other SUVs or trucks. Turns out the agent lied right to my face. I asked for an upgrade and was willing to PAY for it, but she lies and tells me she has nothing left, but 5 minutes later she is upgrading someone else for free to a full size SUV. So I just canceled my reservation all together. This isn't the first time I've had issues with Budget/Avis. Yeah the price is cheap but if anything goes south don't expect any help from customer service. read more

I noted this to the drop off attendant and requested a paper receipt to confirm there were no extra charges. I was told that they don't do paper receipts and I would receive an email receipt. Sure enough, when I got the email receipt there was a $60 gas charge. Rude staff. After flying almost 7 hours with two small children we checked in to find out the car we reserved was not available. Then I asked for the car seats to be installed which I was told they do not do for liability. I told them that I saw that they did online and also confirmed with customer service the day before. The worker told me I didn't to which I asked her if she was calling me a liar to which she actually said yes!!!!! I then proceeded to pull your website up to show that you advertise that the managers are certified in installing the car seats properly. I did not get an apology. When we finally got to the car that they gave us it smelled like marijuana! I then had to go in and tell them this was unacceptable! At this time I asked for the manager, Brian, who wasn't the most friendly guy either. But he got us another car and did agree to install the car seats. After over an hour dealing with this disaster, we finally get ready to pull out of the airport parking lot only to see that the tire pressure warning light was on! You have got to be kidding me!! So it had to get checked out and was low on tire pressure. It was almost 1.5 hours dealing with this! To boot the car was a piece of crap! Scratches, dents, stains, the car seats were dirty. I went to budget's web site and reserved a car from July 23rd to July 29th, picking up at Spokane and returning to Seattle. The website showed me what I thought was a good deal and I selected it., not realizing the return location was switched from Seattle to Spokane. I am a software engineer, and I would never write code that ignores the users wishes just to show him a "hook" deal. When I picked up the car, I noticed the return location was changed and mention I asked for return to Seattle, and was told by the manager, since I had prepaid the rental, it would cost me another 370 dollars to return the car to the alternate location. I was incensed... We landed in Spokane to visit friends for a day and a half but was to return home from Seattle after spending the remainder of the week there. I reserved a car from Alamo for one day, to be picked up from Spokane on the 28th and returned to Seattle on the 29th. This rental cost me 57 dollars WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE TO RETURN TO ALTERNATE LOCATION. I returned Budget's their car and picked up Alamo's, which forced me to spend 8 hours on the road and not at the festival with my wife. Our travel budget was tight and no other idea was financially feasible. I have rented with Budget for 30 years. Returned my car on time. Budget had no return rep outside at my 9pm return time, so I went inside to return the car at the counter. They were extremely busy and the counter agent instructed me to fill out my slip and drop it in the drop off box. I did so and later found out that I was charged an extra day, because they didn't process it until the next morning when they opened. Rented a car from the Spokane Airport Budget office for our ski trip to Canada. Rented from Budget because of a fairly decent price on a moderately large AWD vehicle, and because the reservation agent SPECIFICALLY promised me that we could get snow tires placed on the vehicle for a reasonable additional fee so long as I called the day before and requested the tires. When I called the Spokane office, I was told that we must have been "lied to" about the snow tires, because they simply didn't do that. When I explained that we were going to Canada and driving several hundred miles over mountain passes with bad conditions, I was told that the car was AWD and we "would be fine." When we got to the airport, the Ford Flex we were given was indeed an AWD car, but the tires were absolutely appalling for driving in snow and ice. Incredibly bad traction with very little tread - made for high speed highway driving. (I drive a lot in snow, and know of what I speak). We spent many miles driving verrrry slow over ice and snow with absolutely white knuckles. I will never rent from Budget again. The "savings" is not worth the lives and health of my friends and family. read more

Do not ever rent from this car company, I've rented every time from Budget as I travel through Spokane 2 to 3 times a year. Until last September when I rented I asked the agent for the paperwork to fill out because there are some scratches on the vehicle. The agent told me that if it's small they don't worry about it, they overlook that. Never told me to take pictures., Never thought to look at the car for some minor imperfections just from regular use. I received a letter from the company asking for $1000 in damages for a scratch that was there prior to me picking up the car and leaving the airport. So I hired an attorney to make my point valid. BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!!! Rented SUV from them online through Southwest, vehicle description was Ford Escape and Jeep Grand Cherokee. When my husband went to get the car he was told unless he upgrades we were getting a Subaru which would not take a car seat and allow the person in the front seat to sit comfortably, but for 50.00 more per day he could get a Chevy Traverse, so of course he changed. I was with the baby and wasn't there for this theft and misrepresentation of Car rentals through the airlines. Will never use again! Terrible service start to finish. Please be aware that they will try their hardest to scam you out of your deposit! I had family come in town that went through them for a rental. First of all, the car they put a deposit on was rented out before they got there. From there they sweet talked them into upgrading from a fwd car to an awd car for quite a bit of additional money. Which is all good considering the amount of snowfall we were experiencing. Secondly, the car itself was overpriced for what it was and the deposit was no small amount. Upon returning said car (which was in the same condition as they got it aside from snow on the tires) they claimed that it smelled like smoke and there were ashes in the car and this is why they wouldn't refund their deposit. That's pretty outrageous seeing as I've been with them any time they've driven that car and not one time has there been anybody smoking in that vehicle! In short, it's not too far fetched to say they're the absolute worst rental company at the Spokane airport. I'd recommend any other rental agency over them any day of the week! read more
