I don't normally review supermarkets/corner shops, but I really like this cornershop/ supermarket. The staff are lovely. They used to own a Londis on the same site, but I guess they must have bought the building next door, because their shop became double the size, and re-opened as this new, shiny Budgens.
- They open late(ish) I think until 10pm, even on Sundays
- They have everything you might need (flowers, herbs, sweets, frozen goods, veggies, fruits, fresh breads, interesting local produce, and more cooking ingredients than I expect from a local shop!)
- The wine and ale selection are pretty decent
- It's not too pricy, even compared with walking the extra 10mins to Holloway where the larger supermarkets are.
- They often have special offers on cheese...and we eat lots of cheese!
To be honest, the fresh veggies are not as good value (or as good quality) as the awesome greengrocers on fortress road, but I am often too lazy to walk the extra distance before making dinner...so this budgens is my main grocery shop. read more
