We contracted J&M Commercial Painting to complete extensive interior and exterior repairs and…read morepainting, to help us prepare our home for sale. This work required a significant amount of painstaking detail work, which required skilled, meticulous painters. In all areas, the work far exceeded my expectations. I have worked extensively with contractors in Southeast Ohio over the past 10 years, and have generally had terrible experiences. They are largely unprofessional, they don't finish the job on time (or they don't finish it at all), they aren't conscientious, they don't communicate with you, they often try to overcharge and in general they have left me with a bad impression of contractors. Mike and Camilla Butcher showed me that there are still contactors out there who are professional, honest, conscientious and truly care about getting the job done right. Mike promptly offered a reasonably-priced bid, had a crew out within days, checked in with me everyday to make sure I was OK with the work that was being done, and promptly resolved any issues that I identified. His foreman, John, and his crew were courteous, hard working and highly skilled. They showed up on time and got the job done right the first time. As a former business owner and a current business professor, I have a pretty good grasp of what professionalism looks like, and J&M epitomizes it. I couldn't be more pleased with the work and the experience I had dealing with this company. If you want the job done right...no hassles...no typical contractor B.S., call Mike and Camilla. They made our home look better than it did when it was new, and they treated us right in the process.

First off, he kept having to ask for more money because 'reasons'. Sometimes it was that his partner was in prison again. Sometimes it was because he hadn't been paid by someone else. On and on. This year, the gate blew off the hinges in the wind because he used six, one inch long wood screws to secure what must be 75-80lbs of wood each side of the gate. The fence he completed for me leans like it's been drinking for 6 weeks straight and just got hit with the hangover. Now that I'm looking to resolve these issue, he has ghosted. What happened to this company? I was very pleased with my first experience, and spent 10k on a huge…read moreproject. The paint in some places started peeling about a year in. They came back to repair the damage and ended up painting my deck THE WRONG COLOR. The deck was green. My fence is the white color you see. I am awfully mad because I paid them money to come back and FIX THE WORK THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED more than a couple years, right? I guess the joke's on me.

Had multiple communication issues between the estimator, scheduling department and the service…read morecrew. When the estimator came out I told them I wanted walls and doors all painted the same color. I received the estimate and it had a different paint listed for the doors. I asked why it was different and he explained that it was just a different finish but still the same color. It wasn't. He had the doors quoted as a completely different color so when he finally corrected the issue the original estimate went up in price even though that's what I requested in the first place. I still proceeded with the project and the day they were supposed to start (I was told 9 am) he didn't show up. I called the office and they reached out and said he was running late and would be there by 11. When he arrived he immediately apologized and said he had a family issue which is completely understandable but a phone call would have helped. He started the work and I left him to do his business but at one point I noticed he went out to his truck and didn't come back in the house for an extended period of time. I happened to look out the window and noticed he was spraying my driveway with a hose. I went outside to see what was going on and he spilled a can of paint in my driveway. I didn't complain but he immediately apologized and said he was going to request a discount for being late and the paint spill. The job was finished in two days and the quality of work was acceptable but again it was the poor communication. The office contacted me the following Monday to ask about the experience and I told them everything that happened and I was told a discount would be requested on my behalf. Again this discount was offered to me, I never requested anything but the office responded that he was within the designated arrival time and they would only apply a discount if the paint couldn't be cleaned from the driveway. This is not what he told me and if he didn't have the authority to offer discounts to customers he shouldn't have made the comment in the first place.
