Mayco Colors, which also houses Buckeye Ceramics is a godsend for me…read more Mayco has taught me so much about pottery and ceramics. Having taken a ceramics course in college, I learned that I actually enjoyed working in clay. While there are plenty of places around Columbus that cater to paint your own, I wanted to nitty gritty, hands on experience of it all. This is where Mayco Colors/Buckeye Ceramics came into my life. With only a handful of potter studios willing to teach around Columbus and A LOT of them being extremely pricey per hour... I decided to stop by here many moons ago. The teachers here are great, and although my original teacher no longer works here and has started up her own pottery venture, I still feel that their staff is competent and knows what they're doing and will try to help you reach your goal. Mayco is one of the largest producers of ceramics glazes. Yes, you heard me... smack dab in a small warehouse in Hilliard sits a great asset and resource to some of the nations greatest potters and amateurs a like. Not only does this facility create glazes, supply ceramics supplies, offer classes, and workshops, but they also offer kiln firing for a VERY small and reasonable fee. This is where I absolutely love this place. They help the amateur artist like myself with something that living in a 1br apartment is unable to do. I can't tell you how many places I have called, or organizations I have asked about firing green ware for me only to be told, "Sorry, it's a liability issue." BAH! I have to give Kudos to Sheri who runs the Buckeye Ceramics portion of Mayco. She has been so professional in correcting any mishaps and is right on it if you have a question or concern. In fact, everyone here is great, everyone is so friendly and everyone just meshes. We're all there because we love sticking our hands in the clay and creating our own delightful visions and creations. If you're looking to get a start in ceramics or pottery, then I would definitely check out Buckeye Ceramics.. They're possibly one of the best knowledge resources in central ohio for pottery and ceramics.

If you're looking for gifts, they have a lot of nice stuff. If you're looking for wrapping paper or…read morebows, don't bother. The selection is very thin. By thin I mean I had a selection of maybe 8 bows. Sounds like enough, but they were so vastly different in style with few colors and I'm not even sure for what occasions they'd be appropriate. Disappointed. Same issue in the spring when looking for graduation cards and gift wrap. "Distribution changes, ownership changes". A LOT of workers who seem to be cross trained by Bath & Body Works because they inundate you with "are you finding what you're looking for?" Overbearing. Always. I appreciate help but I almost feel like I'm being watched and not really wanting help. It's just a weird vibe.

Tried to return a Christmas ornament that was part of my Wishlist catalog order. I didn't realize…read morethat an additional cord was necessary to purchase on top of the 26.00 ornament. I was also purchasing 3 more items. The employee was extremely rude (I didn't know that ornaments aren't returnable even though it's more than 2 weeks before Christmas). I asked her to look up my list to prove that I purchased it there and she said she couldn't find my name. She basically accused me of lying... she said I probably bought all my ornaments from a different Hallmark store (I only shop this one). I even still have the voicemail from one of their associates letting me know that my waitlisted Star Wars ornament had come in. Disappointing because the staff there has always been so friendly. I've never seen this particular person. Maybe she's Seasonal. Anyway... this year I purchased several hundred dollars in ornaments. Never again. There are too many Hallmark stores in this same area to be treated like that.
