I was nervous to take my car to the shop because of negative experiences with other Chicagoland facilities but a local FB group guided me to them and I was not disappointed. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, which I really appreciate and in doing that I felt confident enough to add extra maintenance repairs I knew the car needed but was avoiding for fear of being taken advantage of. IMO, Okan is the most honest mechanic in Chicago. His shop does great work. Okan rebuilt my Porsche 911's motor during Covid (4 years ago) and it has been running fantastic ever since. If I could give these guys more than five stars, I would. While not my regular shop, these guys took care of me like I had been going there for 20 years. When my beloved Nissan 300zx wouldn't start, the guys met me at my garage and pushed my car into the ahop. Then, they kept the car for over a week and Rafael provided me with a comprehensive diagnosis. Since I had just had some major mechanical work done recently at my regular shop, I picked up the car, and my other mechanic agreed to fix the issues. Well, first, I made an appointment. Was told to bring the car in before 10. Got there at 9:45 and they said they wouldn't be able to look at it that day, first come, first served. ?? Then, when I drove the car off the lot after repairs, the AM radio no longer had reception (FM fine). I called a few times during business hours and got voicemail, which was full. Finally, got through to leave a vm. Didn't hear back, so called again the next day and got to speak to someone (the owner, I think). This is the worst part. I explained that the AM worked when I brought it in, but didn't when I got it back, I assumed something got bumped and just needed an easy tweak. I was rather surprised that he dismissed me immediately saying that they had nothing to do with the radio and that they don't do audio. (Unwittingly admitting that he has no idea what could trip the radio reception). At one point he said, "I know you're confused." WHAT? What's confusing about, it worked when I left it with you and didn't when I got it back? Pro tip: gaslighting is infuriating and abusive and a great way to lose customers. I think they're overwhelmed. Maybe understaffed. Accepting more business than they can handle. read more

I called the shop to get some clarity about an invoice my wife and I received and Okan Sengullu was incredibly rude and condescending to me when I asked some basic questions. I asked him why he was being rude and he flipped out and said he wouldn't work on my car "in a million f*cking years" and that I should "take it to another shop where they charge 30% more" and I needed to pick my car up now. I don't know what was going on with him personally today, but he's in the customer service business, so perhaps he should learn to be more professional. Had a serious need for an alignment and took my car to Bucaro brothers. I didn't realize I had more of an issue with a bent tie rod that was causing issues. Once this was repaired and the alignment was completed my SUV was driving much more smoothly. I recommend Bucaro brothers for car repair. I first started using this auto service back in 2015 out a recommendation from a friend. At first it was good but within the past 3 years their fees went up and no explanation for it. They also misdiagnose and charge you for everything, labor and parts. They say they don't charge for computer reading but they do if you fix your car with them, they bill an extra half hour. I put them to the test with in the past 4 months. I brought my car in to fix a part that sits on top of the engine that would take no more than 20 mins to replace but they charged me 1.5 hours worth or labor plus the part. I also brought my car in because it was leaking antifreeze so they replaced the reservoir but that was not the problem, it kept leaking so I tried to open the reservoir to add coolant and the lid was stuck on the reservoir so O twisted and the main part of the lid came of and was able to add more antifreeze to bring it back. They found the leak was a hose and not the reservoir so they replaced the reservoir and charged me for it even though it was damaged then suggested I replace all coolant hoses for $1300 including the reservoir. Also, I recently had a sensor go out in the car and they wanted to charge me $600 to replace a $12 sensor. No Way! I will not be going back here again. Do your research to make sure you are being billed correctly because we don't know they take advantage of that. read more

This is my 2nd review for this business. To start 2020, I took my '15 RR Sport in for a major repair and maintenance. Having done business with Bucaro Bros. since 2002, they have my complete trust due to their honesty, transparency, speed and quality of work and very fair pricing. This continued as I was greeted by the friendly owner and promised a diagnosis in an hour. Not only did I get that diagnosis in less than an hour, but he shared a clear video and explanation of what happened and a couple of plans to resolve the issues based on what I was able to spend. The prices were so reasonable, I was able to have everything done and was able to include some preventive maintenance (and saved hundreds if not a couple of grand from what the dealership would've charged). Did I mention they had my inoperable vehicle back that same day? This is my 5th time doing business with them and will continue to do so and HIGHLY recommend them for these reasons: - Honestly - Quality - Customer service - Fair pricing - Cleanliness of shop - Shop location - Speed of service - Ability to service high end vehicles - Variety of services I would include a "cons" section, but I honestly don't have any to include! I brought my car in as my engine light went on. I get a call the next morning and whoever was on the line was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and obviously distressed. I couldn't find the quote he sent me, and he huffed and puffed and got annoyed with me. I just moved here and am not used to being spoken to so rudely. Sticking up for myself, I said, woah woah excuse me please, can you give me a minute to get the invoice up so I know what you're charging me for? That set him off. He called me a "fucking bitch" etc. and said he would not work on my car and that I had two hours to come pick it up. I had to leave work and go bring the car to another place. I have been going to Buccaro Brothers for 8 years and have had the best service. They are honest, dependable, fast, and nice in top of it. Unfortunately I had a lemon used car a few years ago and was in there frequently. Usually when I have to get my car serviced, I dread it because I often feel I'm getting ripped off especially at the dealership. I came in here a couple of times and each time the guys have been great. They explain to me what they did and what was wrong with my car. I noticed my car smelled like gas/oil every time I put my heat on. It smelled like that for about a week, so I called and asked if they could take a look at it even though they were closing early due to Christmas Eve. They took a look and found that my air filter was super dirty and vacuumed it out for me. My 3 year old daughter was with me and they did it quickly. Charges for labor even thought they did not find anything in my tire. They did not find a slow leak in my tire. They said if I experienced anymore problems that I should come back and they would take care of it free of charge. Three weeks later my tire experienced a slow leak. I called to confirm if they would honor what they said regarding looking at my tire again free of charge. Instead of listening, the person that answered the phone was combative and confrontational. When I told him I did not appreciate his tone he kept on being combative and said to not bother coming in for service. I said he was acting like a jerk and he responded with derogatory language that should not be acceptable in any professional workplace. read more

I'm sorry to have to write this review, but I have never been so rudely treated by anyone as I was today by Okan. I had been his client for 8 years, since he was at the Shell on Halsted. I followed him to Bucaro when he moved there and had even recommended him to other friends. Since he went to Bucaro, however, the quality of the work provided by their company has been going downhill. But, you know how hard it can be to find a mechanic you think you can trust, so I kept going back. I was there a couple of weeks ago because I noticed one of my tires was very low. I brought it in to have them checked, along with an oil change and when I picked it up that night, I was told it was just low pressure. Nothing to worry about. I drove the 1.4 miles home and my car has been in my garage since. I rarely drive, and it's all city driving, so my car has less wear and tear than someone who's going long distances every day. I went down to my garage yesterday to run some errands and noticed that my tire was completely flat. (That's how little I drive-I hadn't used my car at all in the time since it was "serviced".) So I called this morning to see what could be done about this. I was very calm, not accusatory at all, and Okan told me that I should just call AAA and how did he know what I had done with my car since I left so this isn't their fault. I told him I wasn't accusing him of anything, I just need some help right now and I had only driven home from the station in bumper-to-bumper traffic and this was the main thing I had brought my car in for in the first place. He then got belligerent, told me that I should bring my business elsewhere and hung up on me! I was stunned! I've never encountered such unprofessional behavior before and to have it come from someone to whom I had been loyal and supportive was mind-boggling. In today's day and age, where we all have access to sites like Yelp, it amazes me that businesses aren't more conscientious when dealing with their clients. Yes, we can all have a bad day or a bad experience, but to be so discourteous, especially to someone who had been a loyal and supportive customer is inexcusable. read more

I never had work done on my car in Chicago up until my check engine light had been on for several weeks. Bucaro is relatively close to where I work so I thought it would be convenient to try them. I took my car in one night 3 hours prior to their closing for them to check out my light and mind you, I had called earlier in the day to tell them I was coming, the man who was working the desk was not approachable whatsoever and very bluntly said there was no way for them to look at it that night and they would the next morning. I was hesitant, but left my car and did not hear from them until I called them myself at 4pm the next day. Still hadn't looked at it. 5:30 I got a call that I needed new spark plugs, wires and a coil for a ridiculously high quote of $430! I knew right then I wasn't going to have them work on it - that price is quadruple what it should be! Later that night I went to pick it up. He tried to charge me a fee for looking at it which I managed to get out of. He showed me the damaged wires and I agreed I needed them changed, but there was no way I would pay that much and at this point, I really didn't trust this guy at all. Took my car and got a call the next day: "Our mechanic realized he left a plug tester in your car...sorry, could you bring it back in and we'll take it out?" I was shocked and confused as to how the hell this could happen because it is not good to be driving around with your spark plugs not attached and can cause major damage to lots of other things. 2 days later, I noticed the lever for my trunk/gas beside the hood lever inside my car was broken off, probably from them trying to open the hood..? who knows... Long story short, I ended up having people (family) I could TRUST work on my car, and installed new plugs and wires on the street for $55 in parts. Finished. Check engine light is off and the car is running much better. Bottom line: These guys are careless and a disgrace to all decent mechanics. read more

Okan is a honest business owner. We are not old customers but will be. Our daughter had a massive oil leak on her Lexus SUV. Called Okan to tow it in. He advised her that he remembered that Luxus had a Service Bulletin on this issue and she should call them. Lexus proceeded to fix it at no charge even though-the car is 9 years old. I had been reccomended to try out Bucaro Brothers by a lady i met at a nail salon; I looked them up and decided to go there for a transmission flush, oil change. The work was prompt and efficient then, though perhaps a bit high. I wasn't sure on the pricing standards, however, so I decided to again go to bucaro's. This time, however, my experience was HORRIBLE. I had been in a car accident, and did not have collision insurance. I emphasized to the proprietor the little amount of money I could pay, and how important it was to fix the bare minimum. He gave me a estimate that was about 2500 dollars. I argued and argued, and yet the best claim he gave me still was 1800 dollars to fix my car. Frustrated, I called around and found a mechanic who could fix my car adequately and efficiently for about 1000 dollars, and did not insist on nearly on the repairs that Bucaro did. I am sure that Bucaro brothers does adequate work, but they overcharge excessively and are rather unreasonable in this regards. My extreme frustration with them during the duration of this experience has definitely convinced me that I won't be going back there for anything ever again, not even for a routine procedure for my car.
