I had not been to a Buca in a while, but all of the ones near me in Detroit have closed, and I had a gift card I needed to use - so my husband, SIL, and I stopped here for a late lunch today on the way back to Indiana from Louisville. They do have lunch specials and they have a $40 dinner special too, that feeds up to 4 people I believe, and includes pasta, salad, and garlic bread - not a bad deal. We were there around 3pm which was in a weird time gap (too late for lunch, too early for the dinner deal) though. We ordered the spicy sausage pappardelle, as well as the stuffed chicken with prosciutto, and both were really good. Our server was Alex and she came out with ANOTHER plate of the chicken (three large chicken pieces per plate) and said the kitchen had made too much, and would we like it for free, which was pretty nice and generous of them. This was my first time eating here. They have been on my list for years. I just didn't have enough people to go with to eat "family style." Today there were four of us celebrating my granddaughter's birthday. The hostess led us on the traditional walk through the kitchen to our table in one of their many dining rooms. There are so many framed pictures on the walls that there is no room left to hang another one. We chose the Caesar Salad and almost finished it. It was excellent! We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and the Spicy Chicken Rigatoni. Both were good. For dessert we opted for the Dolce Platter: a cheesecake with strawberry sauce, a double dark chocolate cake, tiramisu, and two chocolate chip cannolis. All were delicious! We went on Valentine's Day our waitress Lauren did an outstanding job keeping us with drinks and helping us navigating the menu, helping us switch things that we didn't like out, and over all making this a good experience for us! The meatballs were savory, sweet and overall good quality! Ricotta cheese made a nice touch to them! The cheese manicotti was a little cold but no need to complain, they were busy, it's a holiday! This is a fun spot if you want to have a family style shareable Italian meal. The ambience is eclectic with tons of photos and items on the wall's take you to Italy. The food is more geared toward shareable plates so family style is the main choice. They did have a few options for 2 people or 4 people so we chose from those meals. The staff was friendly and helpful and continued to serve us as we waited on our friends. We he salad was perfect and our eggplant parmigiana was well done but not too crispy. I loved having pasta with it as it felt like a full meal. They have a decent bread and there is oil, pepper and Parmesan on all tables. Perfect! Buca di Beppo is a restaurant with great food. I grew up in Florida eating at Buca Di Beppo every year for my birthday. The family style dining is great for a group. Because of this, i always enjoy an opportunity to eat at Buca. My family and i moved to Indiana from South Carolina at the end of last year. We had two Buca's that we frequented (Pineville, NC & Augusta, GA) before they were closed. It has been a while since we had gone to Buca, so seeing that there were two locations near Indianapolis, we knew we had to take advantage. I made a reservation for an early dinner (545) and when we arrived, i was surprised that there were only 6 cars in the parking lot. We were sat immediately and there were only 2 other families there. We ordered two small entrees, the chicken parm and the baked ziti and both were excellent. Once we finished eating, the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. My wife chose a dessert sampler of sorts because she thought it would be a small piece of each of the desserts listed. It was not, it was MASSIVE. There were no complaints about the desserts, it was just way too much dessert for us. The good thing about Buca is that the food is great and you will certainly have leftovers to take home and enjoy later. It is pricey but the quality of food is well worth the price. Had our Valentine's dinner here and was thoroughly disappointed. Our server did not have a great attitude and was very slow with refills and checking in on us. Food was also lackluster. We ordered the trio appetizer platter (calamari, fried mozzarella, fried shrimp). The calamari and fried shrimp tasted old and poorly cooked. The fried mozzarella was just flavorless. For mains, we ordered fettuccine alfredo, which was flavorless and just bland. I had to cover it in pepper and parmesan to give it any kind of flavor. My fiancé ordered the chicken carbonara, which only had two pieces of chicken and was also just very bland. We wished we had crushed red pepper to add flavor, but we had none on our table and our waiter wasn't around to ask. Overall, we were sorely disappointed with the lack of flavor and poor service. Our friend wanted to go to Buca to celebrate his birthday. I'm so glad we did. We had a great lunch. The lunchtime menu prices are very competitive and they have lots of selections. I had the chicken saltimbocca and it was delicious. It came with a side of spaghetti and I had enough for two meals. We all shared a lunch size dish of antipasto salad and had enough for four people. Our server was super nice and very helpful with menu items. It felt like we were friends. Our birthday friend even got a special Buca birthday song and a complimentary chocolate sundae that was large. I want to go back and try the lasagna. It looked so tasty. read more

But on this visit to celebrate my 72nd birthday with family, a young g lady by the name of SKYLER made this truly a very special and memorable celebration. She presented a wide smile constantly and was very efficient in her menu explanations. She tolerated like a pro the joking and puns of six senior citizens. Skyler, thank you for your patience and humoring all of us. You deserve a medal. Most importantly, this amazing young lady understands the issues many seniors have in maneuvering through an IPhone. While attempting to search for a $20.00 Birthday coupon and free colossal brownie, she offered to find it on my phone. She did it with ease and wrote down the applicable codes which got us our discounts. After this she gathered up no less than eight Buca employees to sing the BUCA BIRTHDAY SONG to me. I loved it. Yes, the chopped antipasti salad, garlic bread, chicken Marsala, eggplant Parmesan and chicken saltimbocca was outstanding. But that comes as a given at the Greenwood Buca. Went on a fairly busy Friday evening - reservations are definitely recommended here if you want to get in quickly. Location is perfect - near a busy section of Greenwood/south Indy, so there is plenty to do before/after dinner. The parking lot is shared with the Kittle's next door, but depending on timing for dinner you may not really have much of a fight. Dishes are family style, which is a little different from your normal restaurant. Service was a bit slow on the night we went, but our server was very upfront about someone calling in and it still being busy, so we were a bit more gracious there knowing that she was overwhelmed. We got the stuffed pasta shells and penne to share, I was happy with everything. Nothing particularly spectacular, but still very good. As we were celebrating a birthday, we got the brownie sundae and... holy moly, that's a lot of dessert. We had 3 of us trying to knock it out and still couldn't finish. This was the worst meal I ever had from a restaurant. It was basically frozen dinner entree's. VERY OVER PRICED! The mark up/margins must be at 300%! Tomato Caprese 5 slices of tomato w/mozerella cheese and it was a whopping $38.50!!! R U KIDDING ME?! Elsewhere it's an appetizer anywhere from $10-$15. RIP OFF!! And family size? Um, no.. It's a small "platter - from $35-$50... 2 dishes/platters and 2 beers came to $92 plus tax. I could've gotten a steak/prime rib meal for that. Service was subpar. Right out the gate, as the host took us to our table, commenced to telling us her "drama" about other guests in the restaurant. Once seated, we were offered garlic bread - think it was complimentary & customary table bread-never mentioned a $15.49 charge - FOR GARLIC BREAD! After that, she brought us the "house" bread. We were confused and then figured it out. Server slipped in an up charge without notifying us. We cancelled and sent the garlic bread back. Yet, it was still on our receipt at the end of the night, and had them remove the charge. Oh did we mentioned no butter on the plate of house bread? Details matter! The restaurant is so gawdy, and run down. Peeling paint everywhere and OMG! The restrooms where God awful! Take a look at the men's room!!! It was like dinning in a dive bar! Okay I LOVE Buca so much, I've been going there since I was little kid and the food is AMAZING. Unfortunately I have to give it 3 stars for my last visit. Yesterday I placed a takeout order (4 Lg entrees, Salad, and garlic bread). Well when you go to Bucas they have complementary bread with this amazing oil and balsamic! (It isn't on the menu, you can't order it) I tipped $33 on my order and wrote in "please don't forget the oil and balsamic please!" And they didn't give me any. The only reason I'm writing this is because I feel like this happens 8/10 on a takeout order. I specifically tipped more so they'd maybe see it and put it in for me. It was just so sad it wasn't there. I will continue to go there and I will still recommend it to everyone:) read more

My brother has been begging us to go to Buca Di Beppo with him for months since it's his favorite restaurant. I had never been before but it was as delicious as he said. We went in right when they opened on a Sunday afternoon so we had the place to ourselves for awhile. It did take a minute or two for someone to greet us but we realized they only had one server working and no host. We scanned a QR code to read the menu and it's a huge menu. We finally decided on the Daily Meal Deal which was an entree (lasagna on Sundays), salad, and bread for $33 for a small. We also got my brother's favorite the stuffed shells. While we waited for our food we checked out the artwork that covers every surface, including the ceiling. I love restaurants like this, my goal is always to find the weirdest picture I can find. We were served our salad and bread right away. The bread was hot and the olive oil dipping sauce was delicious. The mixed greens salad was tangy with Italian dressing and plenty of toppings. Since the salad came fully dressed we didn't pack up the leftovers but it was a huge salad with lots left over even with 3 in our party. The stuffed shells were good but the lasagna was even better. When they brought out the lasagna and set it down on the table, my jaw literally dropped. It was the tallest lasagna I've ever seen. The tomato sauce was sweeter than I expected but it tasted better and better the more I ate. We were so stuffed and we ate maybe half the food and packed up the rest for leftovers. The service was great. She was attentive and refilled our drinks multiple times. Our only real complaint was that we were seated right next to the kitchen and could hear all the staff in the back. The radio drowned out most of the noise but I think next time I would request to sit in a different area. And we could look at different stuff on the walls that way too. They did have every other table blocked off for social distancing and were using Parmesan cheese and pepper packets in lieu of shakers I assume. I got the chicken fettuccini alfredo and garlic bread. I will say that even though I'm giving it 3/5 stars it's more of a 3.5. The alfredo was good, but I've made better at home. The garlic bread was weak, I've had better from a grocery store. I know, it doesn't sound like I liked it, but it wasn't that bad. Went January 20, 2025 2 PM. Service was slow from the kitchen. Was not the servers fault as she was the only server scheduled. The restaurant was pretty cold, and there was a space heater implemented in our area, but I still had to throw my coat over my shoulders. it took well over an hour to get our entrées and sadly, 2/3 of the food was unacceptable. The meatballs as usual were quite good. The garlic bread was fine. Caesar salad was unavailable due to no Romaine lettuce. Mixed greens salad was just OK, all components were very limp and swimming in the dressing. The chopped tomatoes were horrible. They were pink (totally unripe), mushy, and had the texture of having been frozen. This should have been my warning not to get the mozzarella Caprese, but I love the dish, so I went ahead and ordered it. It was nicely presented, but not a single tomato was edible as they were large slices of the pink, mushy, frozen textured Tomatoes, such as we received on the salad. The fresh mozzarella seemed dense and dry, and very hard to cut. The dish lacked flavor overall, and none of the tomatoes were usable. My sister was satisfied with the baked ziti. I got the stuffed shells which was kept in the oven. I believe to remain warm and was therefore somewhat dried out. Both of the shells at the ends, we're totally dried out and had no sauce on them whatsoever so when I complained the server brought me a dish of Alfredo and a dish of marinara to pour over them. My grandson whose birthday we were celebrating, ordered a pizza Margherita. Sadly, one end of it was almost burnt, the whole thing was very thin and tough to cut and chew and was very very salty. When we mentioned that the pizza was overly salty, the server just noted that when we came back, we should tell them we didn't want any salt on the pizza if we ordered another one. Now this is for the adult grandchild who generally oversalts everything, and he had no interest in taking home the uneaten portion of the pizza. Finally, in visiting the ladies room, the restaurant was clearly having a heating issue, as well as plumbing issues. The ladies room was no more than 40° if that. Of the three stalls, two of them were inoperable and pretty clogged with refuse. Neither would flush. I did notify our server who asked if they were broken again, so this seems an ongoing problem. So while I will say that our server in general was very pleasant and tried to be helpful, the overall experience was not pleasing. This was a very expensive meal ($200+) which was not at all worth it. I will likely not return to this Greenwood, Indiana location. read more

I remembered why it has been at least 10 years since we've eaten at a Buca. We were with two friends so they both choose what they wanted to share and husband and I shared. We started with breaded mozzarella and garlic bread. The garlic bread had burnt garlic taste. Cheese was good. We got two salads one Caesar and one House. Caesar was very dressed and tasted nothing like Caesar. Didn't try the house salad. Entrees were Chicken Parmesan and Lasagna. Did not try the lasagna but it looked a mess. Husband liked the chicken parm, I didn't. They totally ruin nice crispy chicken by putting a super chunky wet sauce on it then a layer of cheese. I scraped most of the breading off. I would have liked a side of spaghetti but 22$ for spaghetti marinara was just too much. So we spent a little over 90$ with tip , for Breaded Mozzarella, Caesar salad and Chicken Parm. For almost half that we could have had a much better meal at Maggianos and had food to take home. For a quarter of that we could have had a better meal at Fazoli's. Hate the over cluttered kitch. Carpet or floor in the area we sat needs a deep cleaning. Area smelled like old grease. read more

This was my first visit to Buca di Beppo in a very long time and I loved the experience. Yes, eating there is an experience. The family stlye eating (which many homes are getting away from) is awesome. We came there on Valentines Day and got the Valentines Day Special. The caesar salad was to die for. The Lasagna was out of this world. We go a kids spaghetti plate for the little one and she loved it. To top it all off, the service was excellent. I never had to once ask for a refill. This restaurant made our valentines dinner a special night. As an added bonus, they have a both in the kitchen where you can sit and eat dinner. That is unique and would be an experience in its self. We don't go often but have been going to Buca di Beppo for years. The Apple Gargonzola salad was good, good service. But the marinara sauce is now canned sauce, just canned sauce nearly out of the bag/can, pasty. I have used canned sauce too but I know to add some crushed plumb tomatoes and let it simmer a while to freshen it up. This was just heat and serve. My husband thought it tasted like vinegar. The server said it was supply chain and staffing issues. Anyone can put a sauce on to simmer. We ordered Chicken Parmesan because it used to be the special on Thursdays so was what we went for, the chicken was overcooked and tasteless. It was not busy when we were there. At almost $50 before tip for a chicken and spaghetti (with salad) lunch for two and no alcohol I expect more. If I know how to dress up (or at least simmer) canned sauce they should too. read more

We had a wonderful family dinner here. Our serve Mo was great! She gave us incredible service, I can honestly say not once did anyone have an empty glass or did we need anything. We started off with Caesar and Green Salads and of course mozzarella garlic bread( incredible!) the dressings on the salads were perfect and the bread didn't last long so we order more to have with our meal. We had a variety of pasta for the main. Loved loved loved! We have both dined in and had carryout orders. Each time being taken care of like family. We are a large family of 7 with a great deal of age range and there are not may places that will accommodate us + everyone's tatse buds and bucca did just that for us. Recently we've had some pretty late nights with the kiddos have sports and after school activites. So we decided to order a family meal. It was just perfect! Everything we ordered was fresh and we even had leftovers for lunch. Our meal included a large pasta (they have a list of 4 you can choose from) a large salad and garlic bread. And it was more then enough for us. We did order an additional alfredo as we weren't sure the kiddos would love the spicy pasta we choose. Kiddo not: VERY kid friendly. All the staff was patient with my family. Enough room for stroller or carseats. To me, any Buca is kind of reliable for a few things. The place will feel a bit like a maze, with all manner of quirky decor and photos covering every inch of their walls. The food will be tasty and served family style. You will hear clapping and singing and it may very well be loud on busy nights. I've been to Buca at various locations over the years and it's pretty good. As someone with food restrictions - no gluten, no dairy - it's not my first choice. But they do have a gluten free menu... and they have one entree option (chicken or veal Marsala, no flour dusting) that is both gluten and dairy free. I had it last night and it's pretty tasty! Pair it with some salad and the new Brussels sprouts and you'll be happy - as long as you like mushrooms and Marsala. ;) Anyway, why the three stars? We happened to come in as a family of 6 on a Friday night. Our server had a shadow - someone in training. They were both pleasant enough, but turns out more people were in training. Like the food runner who took my chicken Marsala to another table leaving me with nothing to eat while my family ate everything else and we waited for them to remake the dish for me. When I was eating my entree, everyone else had already finished theirs. Awkward. That wasn't our only issue either... the salad that we specifically ordered with cheese to be brought only on the side, came with cheese all over. Our server was apologetic and brought me out my own pretty big portion of the same salad, no cheese, while my family enjoyed the family style bowl. Because of the issues, our server didn't have us pay for the two drinks that were ordered in our party... which my dad appreciated but it felt a little 'eh' to me. Why not one of the sides, you know? Sunday, December 26th was my first time visiting Buca. Hopefully it's not my last! I will kick this off by saying that my party took the term "family style dining" and really ran with it. We had 28 people in our party. A whole back room was reserved for us. Overheard a couple of servers talk about how they didn't expect such a crowd size, but I can relate to the pure horror of large parties and working in the food industry (once upon a time). Still, our service was prompt and friendly. Shoutout to Mo for being a rockstar. You won't find employees like her too many places. She was friendly and attentive. Recommend for her service alone. The chicken parm was tasty. The chicken was well-cooked, crispy; the sauce was flavorful. The salads looked great! Didn't try any but my family raved about them. The chicken Alfredo wasn't the best. I have yet to find any restaurants that can contend with Olive Garden's Alfredo sauce. I had to add a bit of Parmesan cheese to the top of my Alfredo to get much flavor. It wasn't awful -- I'd eat it again -- but not as a first choice. The cheesy bread was crispy, flavorful, filling, yet still perfectly portioned. The mozzarella bites were also pretty good. Nothing to rave about but if you have little ones, they'll probably like them. (And if they're not a fan of cheese, consider adoption? I dunno, that's your call.) Highlights of the visit: Big party + fast, friendly service = great review! Clean environment. (Obviously kinda important these days.) Overall, food was 4/5 stars. Definitely worth it for the price.
