Some of the checkout employees will charge you for two coffees if you double-cup your drink. For $3.44 for an extra large, I could go to Starbucks and get actual coffee. I double-cupped my hot drink every morning for a week and on Friday, one of the rudest employees I've ever met at a register made sure I won't be getting coffee here again. It's a shame because it's Buc-ee's, and it's the only decent place in Waller. Never had an issue with this before at any other location. read more

So, I am a huge Bucee's fan. Who doesn't love clean amazing bathrooms when traveling? I have always struggled with Bucee's as a gluten free place to get food. Today, I ordered the brisket breakfast tacos in a bowl without the tortilla. They didn't bat an eye. I wish I would have thought of it sooner or even better, they would offer it as a regular menu item. I didn't have any problems at all with cross contamination. They server was so very helpful. I did try a tater tot or two without verifying they were gf but they looked baked. I took a chance and had no problems at all, so I wager those are gf too. There are plenty of gf options here, but you do have to look for them. Hint: Bucee's, more cups of food without gluten items included would be great. I love the apple/PB cups. Wow! When they say everything in Texas is bigger, they weren't kidding! This is the biggest gas station store I've ever seen! Not only is it a gas station, it's an all stop shop! Food, houseware, souvenirs, hot foods, snacks! You name it, they have it! I didn't get a chance to buy any souvenirs for my way back to Cali, but I did get to eat some of their food. This was actually the first Buc-ee's I've ever been to! Don't get me wrong, I've seen them along the highway while road tripping. However, I've never needed to stop when in the vicinity of one. We were headed to Houston a couple of Saturdays ago, when we had to stop for gas around lunch time. Wow!!! I definitely get the hype now. You should have seen me wandering around awestruck, as my dad gave me a tour. Awe- it's the only way I can describe it. I'm sure regulars were amused by the sounds of excitement and wonder I made. I myself ruefully conjured memories of Encino Man at my behavior. Oops, just dated myself. Anyways, back to the review! The point is, I can't describe this to you, you just have to stop in to one yourself. I can promise you that this is not a glorified gas station, this is a unique destination, its own thing: Buc-ee's. This place is BUSY! There must have been 490 pumps in use when we got there. Luckily, there were about 10-15 open, so we didn't have to wait. I then went inside to get a Gatorade and... double wow! I've been to some great travel centers before, but those are individual and often small places. I really had no idea that there was a chain this cool that provided all your needs. This one is huge, it's twice the size of some of the others I've seen off the highway. I'm not kidding, we temporarily lost my husband and when I didn't find him by the knives, I figured I might never see him again. :) No worries, I found him outside with a gigantic Buc-ee's travel mug. The first thing my dad showed me was the food selection. There were as many options as a food hall- fudge, kolaches, sandwiches, salads, desserts, beef jerky etc. The station with the BBQ sandwiches was amazing! They were slicing meat, packaging sandwiches and refilling as fast as people were buying. From what I heard the BBQ sandwiches and banana pudding are supposed to be very good. I about squealed when I walked by the sugared pecans!! Even the restrooms were great! They were clean and I think it's very smart and cool that they have hand sanitizer inside the stalls next to the door! Also, sensors don't normally recognize me for some reason, but the sensors on the sink and paper towels both worked immediately! I don't know what technology Buc-ee's is using, but I wish they would share it with my corporate HQ and doctor's office, lol! There was a large grocery section, normal gas station offerings, a ton of food and a lot of regional gifts. I thought this was awesome! There's an entire array of Texas made jams, snacks and baked goods. They also have Buc-ee's branded products and so many items made in Texas. They are building one where I live, and now I am excited about it! You can get clothing, trinkets, gardening items, home décor, a grill, wine, cookies, a Yeti cooler, jalapeno jelly, Texas branded golf balls, toys, jewelry, firewood, funny signs, fruit and did I mention a brisket sandwich?? See, I just wrote all that and if you haven't been to one, you're not going to get it. You just have to go! The selection is ridiculous! You can get 74 types of jerky, 35 variations of pretzels and every type and size of travel mug you can imagine under one roof! Okay... I'm usually more accurate in reviews, I have no idea of the actual quantity of these things... or the number of pumps... but I promise you, it's a lot. This was a fun stop and I can't wait to visit another one! What a convenient place for almost all of your needs. I mean, where else do you pick up your hunting gear and produce at the same place? Why did I use past tense you might ask? Well the reason, quite simple, this union has been dissolved. I give, give, give and yet all you do is take. First, you took my Ranch Hand Ghost Pepper Beef Jerky away. In a span of 2 years, I easily tore through 20lbs of this stuff. To this day, I still vividly remember when the rapture took place. It was June 30th, 2017. I walked to the jerky counter and to my dismay, "we stopped carrying it." Second, I finally managed to track down the discontinued suppliers name "Ranch Hand" (if you are reading this, please reach out). After finally mustering up the courage to ask the "JERKy manager" if she could provide me contact info for Ranch Hand, she laughed in my face and asked for the "next" customer. Now the cherry on the top. My girlfriend and I were headed back to Houston and initially stopped for lunch. Like an idiot I ordered a hot dawg from the digital counter. I opened that badboy up and we both thought we were going to puke. The smell was beyond repulsive. Standard 5-star top notch Buc-ee's location. It's not one of the supermassive locations like Luling or Madisonville, but you're really missing nothing when you come in here. They have several beverage stations and coffee stations, a full deli, jerky store, barbecue island, grocery area, area to buy memorabilia, and more. The bathrooms here are spacious and clean. I didn't think they even needed cleaning, but there was a guy walking in ready to do what he needed to right as I was walking out. You can tell that they keep this location well staffed and well trained. I grabbed everything I needed and was in and out within 15 minutes, which doesn't always happen with how expansive and crowded Buc-ee's can be. I stopped prior to my Dad's funeral at the Veteran's Memorial. I got a cup of coffee. At checkout near the clothing department was told I could not leave with the coffee because it was against policy. I filled up my coffee in a Bucee's styrofoam cup that was under the coffee section. My daughter and I could not find lids, so grabbed a plastic lid so I could fill my coffee cup that was in the car. The check out people told me I could not leave with the coffee in the styrofoam cup (size medium) because it was against policy. I offered to pay more for a soda price but denied. I am not even clear on what the policy is? Makes no sense policy? Thanks for the memory on this stressful morning, Bucee's. Wow, just wow. The wife and I are new to Texas and have never visited this place and we were amazed. It is a grocery store sized rest stop with cheap gas, clean bathrooms, and good food. We were advised we had to try the beaver nuggets and were not disappointed. They had a wall of soda fountains and I swear the Diet Dr. Pepper tasted better than I have ever had. I was in Texas for work and had to come to Buc-ee's. I love this place. This is now the second location I have been to and its just great. I love all the stuff you can buy. Great jerky, candy, dried fruit and nuts. Also, love all the household knickknacks. I could send hours going through them all and buying tons of stuff if I had a new house to furnish. It is bigger and better than its peers. Some locations have almost 100 gas pumps, yet that is not the reason to go. Clean bathrooms is its call to fame, and clean they are. Yet, there is more. They have food galore; everything you can imagine, and even some of the things you can't. My wife enjoys their cotton candy flavored yoghurt pretzals. They have all sorts of warm BBQ sandwhiches. I love Buc-ee's! It is such a ridiculous touristy type place, but I just can't get enough! It seems that there is one every hour or so when driving along the Texas highways. They are huge facilities that are a 5 in one type store. There is a snack bar that sells fresh food, a convenience area with medicine and groceries, clothing and trinkets. Every time I go in my boyfriend has to drag me out. The coolest thing about this place is the bathrooms...no joke! They are so fancy and decorated and clean it seems like it has to be a joke. Went to Buc-ee's last night for the first time ever. Wasn't sure what to expect. I figured it might be a more modern version of Stuckys from the 70s and 80s. I got fajitas. There was an up charge for guacamole, sour cream and cheese, so the price added up, but i didn't see the extra charges until I hit the check out button. Next time I will know to look closer. Fajita Meat was kind of rubbery. They had a lot of awesome looking merchandise like t shirts and touristy souvenirs like I like and my husband doesn't. They did have lots and lots of gas pumps, soon waiting in line. Also have several places to walk your dog. Oh, I almost forgot to say they deserve an extra half star for spic and span bathrooms. BUCEE'S RULES!!! This place literally has everything in the universe. I stop here almost everyday on the way to work in the morning. Their house blend coffee is good and they have a million different adders to choose from. The kitchen is always poppin' and you can tell everyone in there is pumped because they are in Bucee's. Their prices are better than the grocery store. One day I walked in there and found some cool sunglasses, baby books for my daughter, BBQ grill items and some killer summer sausage. Definitely the best rest stop I've ever been to. This place has literally everything you could want in a rest stop and so much more! First - the basics. Lots of gas stations and the price is usually pretty good.The bathrooms are large, clean, and pristine. The coffee area is HUGE! They have literally any type of coffee, cappuccino, latte, etc that you could ever want plus the largest selection of creamers I have ever seen. A+ When you get into the food that's when it gets crazy. They have everything. From every type of munchy, trail mix, popcorn thing you would want, to delicious kolaches from the bakery, to BBQ sandwiches you can watch them make on the spot, to a sandwich ordering station to get fresh hot sandwiches, to many many more things (cheese platters, parfaits, the list goes on and on). The hot food is actually pretty good even relative to non-rest stop quality places. I've gotten the boudin kolache, the pulled pork sandwich, and the brisket with pickles and onions and all 3 were good! They also have a GIANT jerky selection - the bohemian one is great and they love giving out samples! Finally they have paraphernalia, coolers, grills and anything you may have possibly forgotten on your road trip. The workers are particularly friendly and everything is well maintained. Where is the 6 star button? Buc-ee's deserves more than 5 stars. It's the best pit/rest stop place known to man-kind! The restrooms are huge! Almost never a line. Some have attendants to point out which stalls are open, and others have a light on top of the stalls to show vacancy. Very clean and spacious restrooms; it is just what you want to see after driving for hours. I have never met a mean employee at any Buc-ees I've been to. The entire staff is nice and helpful. It's also a great place to just walk around and look at all the quirky Texas things they're selling. They sell everything from bird houses to leather rugs. It's very pricy though! Nice to look at, not to buy. As I was browsing the aisles, I saw they were selling cameras and go pros too! Lastly, they sell my favorite beef jerky. The ranch hand cherry maple beef jerky. It's so delicious. It is $8.49 a bag. (Pictured below) If you have the option of stopping at a gas station or driving 20 miles to the next Buc-ee's, drive the 20 miles and go to Buc-ees. The staff is ultra friendly, which I'm guessing has a lot to do with getting paid WELL above current minimum wage. (They have the average hourly wages of all employees posted. I travel a lot. I love Buc-ees. I hate this location. If you are not able to take credit cards for purchases, the time to tell your customers is BEFORE they order food. Not after they've ordered food, waited, gotten it, went to the cash register, waited and then try to pay. Also, it's rude to park your vehicle at the pump, get gas, and then go mosey about the store for 45 minutes tying up that space at the pump. Seems people here at this location don't understand that concept and you can never find an open pump on a Saturday. read more
