Spacious, well lit, clean and tidy, with polite and friendly sales staff (apart from one recent addition, who really needs to learn that no thanks, I'm just looking means I've come in here to look in peace and quiet, don't keep pestering me), this is possibly one of my favourite shops in the complex. I'm a particular fan of the recent season jewel bright wool jackets (which for their quality are exceptionally good value), and the perennial Hobbs suede ballerina pumps, available in a wide range of colours. I can't help feeling that the Hobbs store would be better placed on the posh side (i.e. Jubilee Place), but their ability to stock a good capsule range of the current collection means that you might prefer to whizz out to Canary Wharf rather than into town. A more pleasant shopping experience.

The sale stuff is excellent - you can always tell a good shop by how their sale stuff is hung. It's not shoved at the back of the shop like you usually find. In fact, it's just a pleasant surprise that you notice on the tag that the amazing dress at the front of the shop is half price. Brilliant. The staff are friendly. I was the only person in the shop yesterday and usually I HATE that. I feel compelled to buy stuff - you can't browse and hide if no one else is in there. Especially in expensive boutiques. The dresses are great - not cut to my exact tastes though which is why I came out empty handed. Their jackets are cut very well and very 'officey' - shame I wear jeans to the office now or I'd have come out with three. I think if I keep popping back I'll find some great stuff in here. Lots of floaty silk stuff. Wedding perfect. Dresses usually about £200 are about £60 in the sale right now. Bargain. Oh, and if the staff are reading this, if you could reduce that amazing gorgeous long silk dress I spotted, I'd appreciate it. Ta very much.

Factory Outlet North Finchley is nothing like that. There are some good deals to be had, even a rack starting at just 5 pounds. I'll admit the clothes in this shop are taste-full and beautiful. There is a particularly nice brown ruffle dress in a silky material for 22 pounds and some lovely knits that wrap around your body. The staff here is friendly enough and not up your arse, in a way that is common in a small store. I like to come in here and have a poke around. I will note this store only sells clothing so no handbags or shoes on offer.

I find the clothing shop in contrast rather dull and uninspiring. The collections seem to merge into each other as a muddy mass (with the colourful spark of Orla Kiely occupying one rail) Mrs Robinson's fashion is however, normally quite popular. When I said they don't look look like very quality she asked me why my wife bought them in the first place! That a shop in Knightsbridge sold a pair of fake Chanel shoes is astonishing. That they were so rude is even more surprising. Avoid.

The selection of clothes is stunning mix of different brands with beautiful handmade Italian shoes. I would recommend a visit as more independent shops like this should be open in our high street. The shop went through some renovation and change of management last summer, reopening selling…read moremenswear and womenswear with a different name. The renovation simplified the internals giving a more contemporary look. The owners are really building most of the internals by themselves like the wooden shelves on the walls or the till desk. Quite remarkably I must say. There are more dressing rooms, one for the gents and two for the ladies. The menswear selection includes an organic brand called Knowledge Cotton, which clothes are gorgeous when you touch them; a local designer called Eastie Empire Tailors that produces a line of clothing taking inspiration from the old days; Superga shoes and other brands. They have an interesting selection of man caps too from a London designer called Dasmarca. The womenswear selection includes several brands like Stefanel, HunkyDory, Selected Femme, Patrizia Pepe, Jucca, Hartford and etc.. A well mixed selection of different brands that gives you the impression that everything belongs to one designer. Congratulations to the buyer. The staff is always friendly and open to have a chat explaining you the brands and why they selected them. There is no rush or push, you can try on and come back when you want, these guys are really adding a service for free for you. This is what you would call a real local shop and a real local shop service. Buy local!
