I say this was worth the hype and more than just an Instagram picture. Portion size was good but not overwhelming. Waffle was soft and great balance against the treats inside. There's the option to go off of the menu, or make your own combination of ice cream and toppings. Would totally come back. Sucks there's nowhere to sit inside though.
The Bubblewrap Waffle was instagram famous and looked delicious, so I decided to give it a try when I was in London about a month ago. They have a lot of flavors for ice cream and have lots of choices for toppings. It is a good thing to have many options, but it also makes it hard to decide sometimes. The staff told me that the waffle holds up to two scoops of ice cream, but some people said it's too much ice cream. I laughed and said, "I'm from the U.S. and what do you mean by too much ice cream" LOL. I ended up getting two scoops and it was perfect!
Babbbbbay! Let me tell you, when you've been eating low carb for months on top of months and go on vacation and try some bubblewrap waffle cones with yummy, delicious ice cream inside! Felt like I died and went to heaven, ya hear me. I decided on the Kit Kat Oreo cause I wanted to be super fat and running off sugar and it did no disappoint. So sweet, so creamy and the cone was both crunchy yet savory and fulfilling. The only downside is this place is super sardine packed small and there is no place to enjoy your treat except outside. Plus it's pricey AF! The service was nice, not rushed even though they were busy. I would love to relive this moment. So delicious...in London, try it!
So delicious!! You can either choose to make your own waffle or one of their options. We got the delux lover and everything about it was so good. If you don't have a sweet tooth, this might be a little too much for you. It's still a well-loved and popular spot in Chinatown so I'd still recommend people to come and check it out
When I read the reviews for this place I knew I had to swing by. When I made my way to the store from there was a line out the door and around the corner. I almost left because the line was so long but I stuck around and waited it out. The inside of this shop is tiny--hence the line out the door and around the corner. The waiting is minimal and even if it weren't it would be so worth it. You build your own waffle cone the way you like and every waffle is made fresh just for you! I really enjoyed watching the team work to get orders prepared--if I could post a video I would. The hazelnut ice cream was ammmmmazzzzzzing. I'm not too into sweets but this hit the spot when I was looking for something cold and slightly sweet. I got this to share, but honestly it was so good that we all decided to grab our own. This little part of London is so cool. Please don't let the line scare you away.

Waiting was pretty entertaining though; I got to watch how they made the waffles and what the customers in front of me got. I got my waffle with bananas and Nutella; classic but always my favorite. Guys, the line was worth the wait - Just look at my smile! (P.S. I had to take my winter gloves off to take this picture to share the yumminess with my Yelpers - you're welcome!) You get to customize your waffle however you'd like They have a variety of options for ice creams, toppings, creams, syrups, etc. They also have preset waffles in their menu selection.
Visited this place with my partner who had high expectations; said expectations were equistitly exceeded. Each of us got our own waffle, complete with our own slew of delectable toppings. The waffles will run you about 7£ and probably add a pound of sugar onto your belly as well. Despite this, it is well worth it. In particular, I got the matcha gelato on a vanilla waffle with Oreo, and biscoff syrup. The staff also put on brownie pieces; I hadn't asked for any but they must have known I needed them. Together, the flavor was supremely satisfying and I cannot wait to go back and treat myself next time I'm in SoHo/Chinatown, though as a Chicagoan, that may be some time. A few brief logistical notes. First, the shop itself is quite small and you can expect the que to extend out about 5 to 10 people. That said, the line will move along pretty quickly. Also, I was able to pay by card, but noticed a small sign stashed away reading 'cash only'. Likely this means their machine may be out of order on occasion, so best bring some cash just in case. Overall, this is a unique treat you simply must try. More than just a gimmick, the whole operation is sweet.
I came here after dim sum. This was the best way to end my evening. I had a bubble wrap waffle with matcha ice cream, strawberries and chocolate drizzle. It was delicious and certainly hit the spot! You can either choose a recommended combo or make up your own. You choose a waffle flavor, ice cream flavor and toppings. I kept it simple and went with the regular, traditional plain waffle. My friend had the KitOreoKat which has Kit Kat and Oreo toppings. I had a bite and it was really rich and sweet, but it also was delicious. The service is really fast. The line moves quick. Thank goodness because it can get crowded in there. It's standing room only! They have this Hello Kitty tote bag that they sell which is so cute but I couldn't justify buying another tote because I already have so many!
Just chanced upon this place after going for lunch at a restaurant opposite. I had the plain bubble waffle with vanilla ice cream and crushed oreos (they usually put them whole, but I requested them to crush them). It was a classic, but good. My brother went for the plain with hazelnut icecream with nutella and chocolate sauce, and he said his was nice too. Got really messy while eating it! The place is way too overpriced though, and you end up paying quite a lot even if you add just a couple toppings. Not sure its worth it. Its also quite small and there's like no place to sit inside and and wait for your order. You keep rubbing against other customers. Not the best experience. This also means you have to go outside, stand and have your treats.

We stopped here a couple of days ago because my daughter had seen in it on Insta! The staff was extremely friendly--even helping us find a restroom before we ordered! My daughter opted to make her own cone, and the waffle was freshly made while we waited. She filled it with chocolate chip cookie gelato with Oreo and Kit Kat no drizzle. We were given a buzzer and asked to wait outside while it was made. The place is small, so this provides space for others to come in a place their order. We got the bubble waffle within about 5 minutes, and my daughter got to work on eating her delicious treat (after a few photos for you all of course)! The gelato was creamy, the waffle was crispy outside, and fluffy inside. read more

What a unique dessert and quite a delight! The line was pretty long both times I went which is usually a good sign. It's a very small building, so basically only enough room to pop in and order then step outside and wait for your number to appear. Then you can eat outside, but you only really want ice cream when it's hot out, so it works out. There are about 6-8 combinations you can order or create your own combo of cone + ice cream + toppings but it is hard to read options until you are at the register. I went with the hazelnut feast - Original Base, Hazelnut Gelato, Hazelnuts, Chocolate Sauces. I don't often see hazelnut gelato, so it was worth the try. Being topped with actual whole hazelnuts was a powerful combination. The slight bit of chocolate sauce provided the perfect flavor balance. It seemed like a lot of dessert for the money and a great value for such a tasty treat. These cones are unique looking + really delicious + pretty quick to order and receive, considering its popularity. It tastes great and the bubble wrap gives this dessert a fun and unique twist on an ice cream cone. read more

Delicious! The bubble wrap is pillowy and crispy, rolled into a cone and stuffed with ice cream with bits of cookie mixed in, topped with mango drizzle and strawberries. read more

Popular spot for Instagram-worthy decadent waffle-wrapped ice creams. It's a bit over the top and quite indulgent! Not exactly practical or sustainable (in terms of calories and in terms of money!) as a regular occurrence -- but perhaps a fun one-time treat / experience. read more

We saw a few of these cones walking around the area and were mystified. When we found out what they were, we made a direct line for Bubblewrap. We ordered the nit cone. Hazelnut gelato, chocolate and hazelnuts. It was really good, but not as life changing as we had hoped. There was a good line going in so we figured it had to be pretty good. read more

I understand that Yelp isn't as popular in London since Yelp trimmed down its operations globally. The fact that there are only 6 Yelp reviews is still surprising, because if you follow new places in London, this place is plastered everywhere. Like, two-hour-wait-plastered-everywhere. Egg waffles are popular where I live, so I wondered what was different about theirs. I had to find out! We stand in line. And as many Brits will tell you, they are the master of the queue. To the point that when other people are walking by us, they too felt like they needed to queue up. Impressive. After an hour wait, we're inside. They're out of the limited waffle flavor (chocolate) and the matcha. I ordered the #4, whose matcha waffle is now a plain one. It's served with a scoop of matcha ice cream, drizzled with salted caramel, and topped with a generous amount of Kit Kats. It's almost too pretty to eat. I take a bite and note that they're the same as home -- good, but not worth a 1-hour wait. I'll say this: the savory one looked appetizing. A whole egg is cracked into the middle of the waffle batter while it cooks and is served with fresh avocado. £6.99 seems about right. (There were a lot of Kit Kats on it.) Bubblewrap could use Nowait (restaurant app) where you can place yourself in the queue, and get texted when you're turn is up next! read more

Bubblewrap Waffle was a pleasant experience, and a bit quicker than I thought that it might be for a night in downtown London. Despite the queue, you end up getting your dessert pretty quickly! It's definitely not the best bubble waffle I've had in my life, but it's pretty decent and I'd go back when I'm having such a craving. I haven't actually found a better place yet in England! The prices are a bit on the higher side, but that's to be expected for London. Check this place out if you're in the area! read more
The dessert is tasty, but not tasty enough to wait 40 minutes for. They really need to rework the store and training to have greater efficiency, because it was averaging around 1-2 minutes per dessert (based on what was coming out of the door), so the 30-40 people in front of us literally meant we waited 40 minutes from the time we entered the line until the time we were walking out. Beyond the long time in line, the wait itself is not very comfortable inside. The line weaves in to the back, where you pay, and then loops itself back out as they build the ice cream and toppings, this means that people are two across in a space that's less than a meter wide, where it's also a little hot and dark. They would do better to reconfigure the store in a stand or counter format along the front so that they have more room to make the desserts (thus more people and less time for each), and more comfortable for the customers. Now the dessert itself is delicious. But waiting 40 minutes and paying £6-7? Not exactly worth it. read more
I was so excited to try these waffles and was definitely not disappointed! The wait was about 20 minutes at 7pm on a Wednesday night. You get to choose your ice cream flavor and toppings, or you could do one of their specialty waffles. I got pistachio ice cream with strawberries, kit kats, caramel drizzle, and Nutella drizzle. It was absolutely amazing! If you're in Chinatown, you have to try this place out! read more

The line was long but it moves super fast. They offer signature combinations of you can build your own. I did Hazelnut gelato topped with pecans, strawberries and salted caramel. My friend ordered strawberry cheesecake gelato with salted caramel. Both were yummy! This was our first time trying a bubble cone and we were not disappointed. read more

You have to visit here at least once if you're in London! If not for the yummy waffles and ice cream, then at least for the picture. The waffles were soft and warm, and depending on the special of the day, you may be able to get matcha flavored waffles. I also topped mine with a scoop of matcha ice cream, hazelnut ice cream, mochi, and condensed milk. It was delicious and massive. However, there is a long wait for it - about an hour on a weekday afternoon, and they messed up my order so I had to wait even longer. read more

A fun yummy dessert place in China town! We passed by it the first time since it's fairly nondescript, except for the small line outside and the lovely smell of waffles. My husband got the peanut butter and I made my own with original waffle cone, matcha gelato, strawberry, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. read more

After waiting for nearly an hour, we finally were able to try the infamous bubblewrap waffle, and were immediately disappointed. The options for topping are great, the gelato itself is alright, and the waffle is good, but it's really not that "WOW THIS IS AMAZING" that so many people seemed to rave about. Perhaps if I had not waited so long I would not have been let down, but it just isn't anything to be raved about. read more

My rating is more of a 3.5 than a 4. I stopped by with a friend on a beautiful Sunday afternoon around 1 PM; it was basically the perfect weather for ice cream that day. I was surprised the queue actually didn't look as long as I'd expected given it was a nice weekend. We waited around 40 minutes, but it passed by quickly since we could keep each other company and were also trying to figure out what to order. The smell of the waffles is also really enticing while you wait, and you can see some of the staff at work making waffles through the window. I chose the build-your-own, with gelato and 4 toppings, which came out to be about £8. My friend got the House Matcha with no alterations. I really enjoyed mine, but my friend thought his was a bit bland. It was pretty easy to order; you tell the cashier what you want and pay, and then pick up your order when they call it out. Since it's such a small space, it's a bit awkward leaving when you've got your cone, so take care not to spill any of your toppings as you squeeze through. There's not really space to eat inside, but it's mostly a takeaway place anyway. The staff were polite and worked probably as efficiently as they could given the number of waffle makers and all the toppings/decorating involved. The menu showed multiple waffle flavors but all of them were crossed out except the original; probably they couldn't be bothered having to deal with multiple waffle mixes when the queues got long. The menus also made it clear which menu items didn't have cream or gelato in; probably this wasn't clear in the past and they got customer complaints, so they had some pretty conspicuous writing on the menu board to make it clearer. I was really pleased I got to try this out, as I've got a massive sweet tooth and it was fun to eat. However, at £7-8 a cone and with a 40+ min wait on even a good day, it's probably not something I'd do again, now that the novelty has worn off. Maybe I'll come back if they ever bring back the matcha flavored waffles. read more

Last Wednesday Bubblewrap Waffle finally opened its doors. The owners were selling their egg waffles on Saturdays at a pop-up stall before and you can tell they know what they're doing! Unfortunately, everyone wants a piece of these egg waffles which leads to a queue time of up to three hours. The quality and taste of the waffles was perfect. The outside was very crisp, while the inside was nice and chewy/ soft. They only had the normal base flavour but they'll offer chocolate and matcha flavoured waffle bases soon. The variety they offer for toppings and ice cream flavours is amazing. I chose strawberries, raspberries, Oreos and Nutella as toppings and the combo didn't disappoint. They were very generous with them and also added some powdered sugar on top. The waffles are a bit challenging to eat because of the massive amount of toppings inside the waffle but nothing a napkin can't fix. Even though we had to wait for so long, it was really worth the wait and all three of us really enjoyed our waffles! The staff is also very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering and explaining/ suggesting ongoing promotions. If it wasn't for the long queue time I'd definitely give Bubblewrap Waffle five stars! I'll come back to try more of their flavours (and the chocolate and matcha base). Hopefully the waiting times will have reduced in a few weeks and it'll be easier to drop by for dessert. Important to know: they only accept card payments!!! read more
