GREAT. Their stylists are so talented especially with my extremely difficult hair. I love love love Norma she is a goddess who can work magic with my impossible hair she makes it so smooth and pretty I recommend 13/10. read more

Beware. 1st time I went it was good. 2nd time they put me with the wrong stylist & she totally fried my hair. Had to wait over 6 months before I could do anything. My hair was falling out in clumps. The 3rd time I got back with the original stylist that had done a beautiful job & went back for more highlights, low lights & a cut n'style. I asked for same color as before but in chunks. I got more of a salt & pepper color & she chopped off more than 8" making it about 6-8" shorter than the photo. It was a very far cry from the picture of myself from 2 years prior that I had displayed the entire time hoping to recapture that look. My husband took me to the salon & had me ask if they could fix it. I made another appointment but when I went in the stylist had me in tears telling me I got what I had asked for & she basically could not to what I had asked for. She told me she could not put color on color, well then why did you tell me you could fix it. Plus I'll have to wait at least a year for my hair to grow back. I guess it's just hit or miss with this place, never a consistent job plus they make you feel terrible about yourself when it was their bad job in the first place. 185.00 to really screw up my hair, not a happy girl. read more

I just moved to the area so I asked around and a friend told me to check out Bubbles b/c she went there throughout college (however, she went to one in DC/Georgetown area). A few things went wrong with this appointment: 1) I made an appointment a couple days before at a specific time with a specific stylist, I come in a few minutes before my appointment and the place is packed. They can't find my reservation anywhere, apparently no one wrote it down, so they had to find a stylist that wasn't busy to take me. 2) I had a foil done. I've had foils done for the past 6 years and I knew they left me for far too long without washing the dye out even though they said I wasn't ready yet. Once I got to the sink there was aparently a problem because the highlights were uneven in color and some were too bright. So some chemical was used in my hair (I wasn't told what it was) and I had to sit with my neck in the sink for 15+ minutes. It's uncomfortable enough for a 1 minute shampoo! 3) I go to pay, prepared to pay a certain amount based on their fixed prices online. They charged me $20 extra. I do have long hair, but I figured that website would have said something or that they would have told me ahead of time. So in the end, my hair looks okay, my hair stylist was nice, but if I'm going to pay that extra money I'd rather go to a salon that acts a bit more professional. read more

I can't believe that there isn't a review here yet for Bri, so I feel like I should add one. I have been getting my hair cut and styled by Bri for the past ten years. I won't let anyone else touch my hair. Period. As you can imagine, my hair has changed alot over the past 10 years, and Bri has done it all fabulously. Long, short, layers, not layers, colored, colored with highlights, not colored - and she has managed the transition between each phase perfectly. She did my updo for my wedding - honestly I don't think that there is anything that Bri can't do. She did my mom's hair for my wedding - also awesome - no granny cuts here! read more

Made an appt walked in 10 min early she took me right away but apparently they overbooked and another client was coming in soon ... I suffered for it... My hair is now orange and I couldn't be more displeased. I don't understand how that is my fault! I paid a lot of money for rudeness and aggression .. Switching salons. read more

Do NOT go here. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. If you want an experience worth the $35.00 fee, go to the Arundel Mills location. I should've heeded my first instinct and simply driven the extra 15 minutes, but I honestly didn't expect this to be such a terrible salon. I made an appointment three days in advance for a 2 PM cut. I arrived on time, and when I went to check in they asked me to take a seat. A few minutes later, the stylist who was going to cut my hair came by and asked if I minded waiting for a few minutes. I didn't mind waiting for a little bit more, so I said yes. It got to 2:30 PM so I went to the front desk to ask how much longer I would have to wait. I had to take a seat again, and then the stylist sent over someone to take me to the back to wash my hair. Now, I really wouldn't have minded if the stylist had been working really hard on another customer's look, but as it turns out, she was working on her son's girlfriend's hair. So I had to wait 45 minutes for her to finish the cut and dye before she finally got to me. Clearly a paying customer wasn't important enough to warrant excellent service, but a family member with a free ticket was. What happened next is what really takes the cake, since I received what has to be the worst hair cut of my life. And not only did she just haphazardly cut my hair whichever way she wanted, she kept pushing products. I said I wasn't interested, but she kept trying to get me to buy some of the products they have in the window. Not interested means not interested! Then, when she was finally done, I went to pay at the front desk. To top off the horrible experience, the stylist charged me a $6.00 long hair fee! My hair was barely long enough to reach my shoulders, and yet I got charged extra. It was just absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Avoid at all costs. read more

No. No. No. This was my second visit to this salon. The first time I scheduled appointments for my child and I at the same time for convenience. However, his stylist was ready on time, and mine was 30 minutes late, meaning he ended up unsupervised for the entirety of my haircut. Thank heavens for the iPhone. Today I had booked my appointment online 3 week or so ago to ensure I could get the appointment I needed while my child was at camp. I drove up to Columbia early to be sure I'd be on time. I was waiting time, browsing next door in Nordstrom when the phone rang, and it was the receptionist from Bubbles. She said my stylist was running an hour behind and needed to see me an hour late. That would've made it challenging to get my child picked up from camp on time, so I declined that plan. She asked me to hold, which I did. She came back to say someone else could see me at the same time, and I agreed, b/c I hadn't scheduled with anyone in particular anyway. I just needed a haircut and highlights and was taking a chance on whoever they had available. So - I went at my scheduled time and checked in. After waiting 5-10 minutes, the receptionist came to say that the stylist had just started applying color to another client and would need to push my appointment back by 30 minutes. I had already told them that I needed the appointment time I originally scheduled in order to make things work! How could they possibly have not realized she was running that far behind when they called me 30 minutes before? What in the world is wrong with this place? Appointment times appear to be merely suggestions, and perhaps they have a policy to take walk-ins ahead of appointments or something. If so, please tell everyone that. I could've checked in earlier since I was already next-door in the mall (which I did mention when she called me before). So frustrating. It's kind of a big deal for me to a) have a day off work and b) have care coverage for my child and c) therefore have time to go take care of myself. In the end, I left the mall irritated, vowing never to go to Bubbles again, and without my hair cut or highlighted. Ridiculously unprofessional, Bubbles. read more

I started going to this salon because it was convenient. Now I am learning how to style my own hair after one of the stylist gave me a relaxer and made my hair fall out. I am not from this area and have been to numerous stylists since my move and this was as close to decent hair care as I could get after switching stylist 9 to 10 times. The customer service is hit or miss. The shampoo chairs are awful. The stylist I had never listened to what I asked her to do in terms of only using certain hair care products. She gave me a relaxer once and burned me so bad I vowed to only allow her to shampoo my hair from then on, but I needed a relaxer bad and wasn't due for a trip to my hometown for a while so I let her give me one and now I have thin hair and no edges. If I could sue I would. I would say use your best judgement and start out slow if you go to this salon. If you have a bad experience don't ignore the red flags like I did. read more

I just had my hair cut by Billy and I loved it. He was very nice, listened and had suggestions. I am having a blayage done on Monday so I will add a star to my review if that also comes out well. I will also try to upload pics. But Billy was awesome and super professional and nice. read more

Amber is the best stylist ever. Followed her from bowie to columbia. She is extremely busy so I did go to another salon because of this. However new salon started out fine (they couldnt really cut or blowdry..they used flat iron) but seemed to do my highlights fine until my hair started to seriously dry out. Came back to Amber and she fixed my hair problem. Also, I talked to her about the scheduling problem and she gave me tips on how to work around it. I will never leave again. She does wonders with color and her blowouts are amazing. My hairstyle lasts for days! read more

I use to love bubbles and waited for my time to get my hairs done. My stylist Courtney who I adored left so I had Kit do my hair he did a good job so I made another appointment an hour before that appointment they called because he was sick and had me come in to another stylist . She took 7 hours to do my hair and over processed it so much that it has done nothing break off since. I have spoke to the regional manager MK and she has not been very helpful. She is rude and not very understanding, it's hard having ur hair break off and I have a bob cut on the bottom due to all the breakage. I would never go back to this shop and am sad by what they shop has become read more

Tami has been doing my hair and my daughter's hair for years. She has taken me from relaxed hair to natural hair. I highly recommend Tami especially if you want to make the transition to natural. read more

I go to Courtney and she is awesome. Very sweet, knows her work and intelligent. I look forward to seeing her. My hair looks good for weeks after. I deducted a start for the receptionists. I would never recommend this salon after the experience I had today. I asked the stylist (Angela) to trim my hair. I said keep it consistent with the current cut, just trim the ends. I also mentioned how I have a shorter piece in the front I am trying to grow out and I did not want that touched. She didn't listen at all, or if she did she purposely did everything I asked her not to do. It was unacceptable. She ended up taking well over an inch off all around (enough hair my daughter noticed right away and commented on how short it looked). She created a lot of shorter layers throughout which look terrible and uneven not blended. It's shorter than I'd ever like and I cannot fix it by going shorter. This angers me so much. I think I can only fix it by paying for expensive hair extensions to wait for it to grow out. I am so unhappy with this hair cut. I just wanted a simple trim to clean it up, not a totally new short and poorly styled ugly hair cut. The only positive thing I can say, is Bubbles didn't charge me, because I expressed how unhappy I was with it. I hope no one else has a similar experience here. Avoid Angela if you want a stylist who will listen to your needs and not do whatever she wants. read more

This is my first time I had my haircut for quite long time. Bubbles are good but too expensive for blood. I paid 35 dollars plus tip 5 buckls for his great job but 35 is bit too much for me. I have to find other haircut saloon as I find Mastercut in the same place might be cheaper the one I just went. Well, I was overlook that Mastercut..I should have be more pay attention.. oh well.. I am glad this man did great job with my hair...so better than nothing... read more

Wort place to get a hair cut. Not professional at all. They are in a hurry to send you out as quickly as possible.

I went in for a haircut today and they took me in right away. I had Jamie as my person and she did a wonderful job! Just the way I wanted my cut. She was also very pleasant as well as most of the staff there. I believe I will surely go back to this hair salon again :) read more

I've been coming into this Bubbles location for about 2 years on the recommendation of a friend. I've always just gotten a hair cut, however, this time (2nd to last week of August) I wanted to dye my hair. This was my first time dying my hair professionally. I've always just dyed it at home as it was cheaper. But I figured why not try it professionally this time around. I booked an appointment with an Asian woman (Shanae/Chane, I don't know how her name is spelled but this is the pronunciation) who is supposed to be one of the "top barbers" at this location. I requested a dark brown color. The process of coloring my hair was fine, no complaints. She used extra dye as she said my hair was thick and long. I was okay with that and told her to go ahead. The color came out beautiful, I cannot complain about this area. It was a gorgeous dark brown with the slightest hint of a brassy color to it. I was in love with it. And naturally, I wanted to make the color last as long as possible. Though...This was not going to be the case. My hair color lasted just a little over a month. All the color gone from root to the tips. It was supposed to be a permanent color...Despite my best efforts of only shampooing my hair just twice a week and using a top brand color protecting shampoo to try and preserve the color, it all went down the drain...Literally. I saw my hair color go down the drain every time I took a shower. Black water would swirl down the drain. There went my hair color and there went my money. That wasn't all. The color would stain my pillow every single time I woke up. Black marks all over. I was furious. I went into Bubbles 2 weeks after all this was going on (I didn't go in sooner as I thought it was just excess dye coming off of my scalp and hair). Nobody did anything to help. Worse of all...The Asian woman who had colored my hair blamed my shampoo (despite another barber at Bubbles telling me that my shampoo was a great one for color protection and another barber at another location telling me the same. So 2 professionals, plus all the reviews on the internet, telling me that my shampoo is no issue). I asked her why this is happening, why is my hair color literally going down the drain...Her response... "I don't know...That is so interesting..." What kind of response is this??? Especially coming from someone who is supposed to be a professionally hairdresser. You don't know?? It's interesting?? She was NO help at all. Worst of all. SHE WAS WHISPERING THE WHOLE TIME! She KNEW she had messed up and she didn't want her other clients (who were waiting for her) to hear how she had botched my hair color. What kind of professionalism is this?!! Whispering?? Really??? She then offers...10% off my next hair dye....HA! 10%??? Really??? As if...I will NEVER be having my hair colored, or cut for that matter, here EVER again. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I watched my hair color go down the drain each and every time...My recommendation to anybody wanting to get their hair dyed here; BE VERY CAREFUL. I paid a good hefty price just to have my hair color ALL wash out within a month. Such a disappointment, especially for such a gorgeous hair color. Where is the professionalism here? Apparently washed down the drain just like my hair color. read more

Very scary and painful experience at Salon Cielo at Columbia Mall. I was getting a "mild" relaxer from a charming, 20-somthing stylist. Because she did not base my scalp, I almost immediately felt chemical burns on my scalp - very painful . I let her know but she was nonchalant. I got up and said I my scalp was being burned. . Apparently, she did not now the safety or technical procedures to quickly get the relaxer off my scalp. She rubbed my scalp which made the burns worse and I eventually walked out with shampoo in my hair and very serious burns on my scalp. My scalp is a scabby, painful mess. I'm following a dermatologist's treatment to help the healing. The worst part: no one in the salon did anything except watch the drama. No one came to my assistance or that of the stylist. Maybe the seriousness of chemical burns from relaxers is not taken seriously by Cielo. Enter with caution. I was not asked to pay, which I appreciate. read more

I am so disappointed with this salon and I will not be going back. This place is entirely tooooooo expensive! Maybe I'm out of the loop since I haven't had my hair cut in about four years, but the cost literally doubled the more the stylist did. At first I was told it would be 50.00 for the cut (including the wash). That seemed pretty reasonable. It's not like I'm getting color, highlights or a blowout. I was going in for a simple bob cut. So she blow dries my hair. and then cuts it. Mid cut, she starts fumbling with her nose... EW.. Says her nose ring twisted around.. laughing like it was cute. Don't you know she went and dug in her nostril, fixed her nose ring (several times might I add) and proceeded to finish cutting my hair without washing her hands. I'm waiting for John Quinonas to come from behind the curtain cause that was really unprofessional and totally bad hygiene. The cut was pretty basic. I mean its a bob. She says I can flat iron it, cause you cant really see the extent of the cut the way it is blown out. Oh, but it's $35.00 to do that. My jaw dropped. I'm thinking 35 dollars? I don't even have that much hair!! But I wanted the full effect so I obliged. She ran the flat iron through my hair about ten times. I kid you not!! 10 times and my hair was done. 35 DOLLARS FOR THAT!!?? She could have at least charged me half of that. Anyway, they got 85.00 out of me plus a 15.00 tip. I'll never go back again. The cut is nice, but I'm having a difficult time enjoying it because I feel guilty for spending 100.00 for some basic bob. read more

This salon is HORRIBLE! The receptionist and stylists were unprofessional! I am very, very UNHAPPY with my haircut. My (long) hair is uneven on the bottom -- there is an awkward looking layer on the bottom that is longer than the layers on top of it. The stylist cut crude chunks into my hair that look like I cut my hair with some kitchen scissors. I told her to blend my side swept bangs and she cut chunks into them as well and didn't realize where exactly my bangs started. Overall, this was a bad experience. After the shampooing my stylist left me sitting there with wet hair for several minutes while she was looking for the product! She also talked me into buying a treatment that one day after the cut I couldn't even tell a difference. Finally, she had to search through her BACKPACK to find her brushes and hair dryer!!! I will NEVER GO BACK to this salon and I recommend the same to all of you! read more

When I ask for 6 inches off the length, I want 6 inches off the length, not 3 inches. When I say my bangs should start at a length below my lip, I mean below my lip and not below my chin. These type of crooks always cut your hair longer than you want it because they think that means you will have to come back more often. It doesn't work that way. If I don't get the cut I want, I don't come back. Also, I do NOT want color in my hair. I don't have the time or energy to be visiting the salon every two weeks to deal with root touch ups that never look as good as the first coloring, so don't discuss the color of my hair with me unless I bring it up. Finally, I had to work for quite awhile cutting the front of my hair to get it to look okay. The stylist spent no time making sure the layers were in good shape in the front and blended with the rest of the hair. Luckily the back looks okay other than it is just TOO LONG. Obviously, I won't be back. I don't play those games with stylists who try to get more frequent business by giving me a bad hair cut that is too long. read more

I used to go to a local spa to get my hair done. Went there for years. I felt like I needed a change so I went to this Bubbles. I didn't have an appointment, but they were able to get me right in. I had highlights, a cut and a style. I am always afraid to change stylists because they usually mess up my color and make my blonde too ashy. Filiz did my hair. She asked me questions, made recommendations, did a fantastic job with the color, and gave me a terrific new hair style with layers in my very long hair. I am very pleased and plan to go back to her for my next visit. A big bonus was that the appointment cost was $100 less than what I had been paying, and that included a product she had used on my hair. Both Feliz and the receptionist were very friendly and helpful. Other customers seemed to be having the same great experience. Everyone that works there appeared very professional from dress to how they conducted themselves. The salon was also clean and organized. I was happy on every level. read more
