My friend got her hair cut and got 4 inches trimmed off + long layers added. The stylist (I'm assuming he was Allen from the website!) did a fantastic job and her hair ended up looking so much thicker and healthier afterwards, with the beautiful long layers and face framing pieces she asked for. I got an oil treatment because my hair was feeling like hay! They were so thorough in coating every strand with the treatment and I sat under a steamer until my hair was looking super moisturized. We both got our hair blow dried straight at the end and they managed to make my frizzy wavy hair look incredibly sleek by the end of this. The space was super clean and everyone inside was so so nice! I was speaking Mandarin with them but they also speak Cantonese and English. Just as my hair grew out to the point of unruly, there came an unexpected opportunity. Yelp hosted an elite event to showcase the newly re-opened Crocker Galleria and I was all over that like Batman on crime. Galleria Hair Design was giving free bang trims to attendees and after chugging a few beers, I had enough liquid courage in me to try it out. Because of the huge turn out, there weren't enough stylists to accommodate me. Eric H. apologized and gave me his business card for a rain check. Soon enough, I scheduled a bang trim online and crossed my fingers. After looking at a few photos and discussing details, Eric got to work. His attention to detail was spot on. He took his time and I really appreciated the active conversation not just around my hair but the kind that I always imagined a hair stylist would have with their client. We chopped it up! *pun intended* heh heh... I went back for a full cut today and I can proudly (and very happily) say that I have found my new hair salon. As much as I want Eric H. all to myself, I highly recommend him. He listens to every detail, is genuine with his opinions, and is focused on the customer experience. Price-wise, I can't complain. $65 for shampoo, cut and style beats the $90 I was paying for over 5 years! My son at the time was 3.5 years old . Prior to our appointment I had a discussion with Eric informing him my son is fearful of anyone trying to cut or trim his hair. Especially the sound of a buzzer. What a relief ; I finally found a hair stylist who's understanding, patients , gentle and compassionate. Eric made my son felt at ease and comfortable . Eric took his time, explained to my son what he was going to do, showed him the tools and what each one is for. My son was happy with his haircut and no longer in fear and looks forward to his next appointment with Eric and (no one else. He tells me.) Sadly we moved far away. But when ever we are in town for a visit, we are able to schedule appointments on line.

I scheduled the appointment for 10am on a Saturday, and then I got a call where they would do the haircut at 10am, and then the color at 10:30am. My stylist for the haircut was Alexander and he was so nice! He explained every step and made sure I was comfortable as we went along. This was also a dry cut, which I've never had. I was about to take my glasses off, and he asked that I keep them on since I wear them most of the time and he wanted to ensure my haircut would essentially accommodate it. I've never had a stylist ask me that before and it makes perfect sense. So now my hair frames my face well, with and without my glasses. After the haircut was the color with Zoe and it was a relaxing experience. I wanted to fall asleep (I'm the type that falls asleep to ASMR videos especially with combing and wooden makeup sounds). Then it was a shampoo and style with another stylist. I called that day my self-care Saturday, and I felt so relaxed and refreshed after being there for nearly 3 hours. Now that my hair has grown out a bit, it still looks good. I love the layers that Alexander created, which took my now naturally wavy hair into account (my hair has been getting wavier as I'm aging). I feel like my grays aren't blending as well as the color fades. Maybe it's because the new shampoo I'm using may be too good at retaining the color. At a certain angle, it's very apparent where the dye ends and where my grays start. But you'd have to be shorter than me to see it, and I'm pretty short. Overall the color still looks great and tbh I don't think anyone is noticing my gray roots at the moment. The cost of the haircut and color was over $400 with tip. But my hair is still looking fantastic a month in. And this is something I'll probably do twice a year, so it's something I can save up for.

I booked last minute for first available because I needed a cut before an event and got my hair cut by Tammy. She was unprofessional and gave a terrible cut. I asked for face framing pieces and there were already grown out pieces from my last cut with Li she could have used as a guide. She proceeded to cut choppy layers on one side of my face and attempted to fix it for 30 minutes all while blaming my hair for being "too thin". She then didn't match the layers on the other side because she had clearly messed up and blamed it on one side of my hair being thinner. She barely cut the back of my hair. The result is the choppiest hair cut I've ever had. The back is completely uneven and in some parts is much longer than the front. If you'd told me it was her first time cutting hair, I'd believe you. Normally I'd ask for the owner to fix it but because of the unprofessionalism I don't think I care to return. I've never had a stylist complain about my hair being difficult to cut but Tammy criticized my hair for the entire appointment over what was clearly a skill issue. I understand fine hair can be more difficult to cut but I left feeling insecure about something I don't ever really think about and like it was "my fault" that it looks so bad. I've never had a stylist complain like that, it was so unprofessional. Gave an extra star because she was pleasant enough and I've loved my hair each time the owner has cut it, but man does it look awful this time.

She's also just a very kind and attentive person, but also efficient at the same time, and a great conversationalist. Kara knows her craft. This reflects so well on Zip Zap itself - a terrific salon. I had an appointment with Brandon and 4pm. I walked in at 4 and he was still working on the person before me. I was okay with that because he was taking his time to make sure the customer was satisfied and he only took an extra 7-10 minutes. I've been getting my hair done at a $15 place and thought that I needed to get it nicely done this time around especially since I haven't gotten my hair cut in 7ish months. First off, he took time and washed my hair was superior products than what I use. Although, I think everything has to be better than a giant tub of Costco brand shampoo and conditioner. I got side swept bangs and a little bit of layering in the front. He also did a dry cut after to make sure everything was beautiful. He also gave me great tips on how to keep my hair pretty and natural. The cut is expensive for me but it was completely worth it. He took his time and I came out with a professional looking cut. Long cuts are $80. Because I was a first time customer, Brandon's partner and business associate gave me a 20% discount. I saw 3 returning customers there during my cut. It was pretty amazing considering there were only 2 chairs and I was there for 1 1/2 hours. I will be returning.
