I got delivery through DoorDash for this order. The Chicken Bowl. was good but they gave me white rice when I selected brown. I really didn't want rice at all but no rice wasn't an option. I decided to try it since it was buy 1 get 1 free. I usually get Qdoba since they don't charge for any toppings. Bubbakoo's charges for anything over three toppings. I love the Ghost Pepper Salsa, it is HOT! But you can't add it to your bowl for $.62 cents like all of the other salsas, you have to buy a side for $1.22. The food was good but I don't like the charging extra for more than three toppings and it's stuff like lettuce, cilantro, salsa, pico de gallo...things I feel should be included. read more

We tried this place on the way in from out of town last month & We've had it three times since. I will note they have more options on their App & online to order than they do in the store. Which actually seems a little better to me. My favorite so far was the Boom Shaka Laka Burrito. But you can Build your own. You pick whether it be fried, grilled or shredded chicken etc. (they have other meat/veggie options) then you can choose any & all the toppings. It's basically the sauce that makes it the flavor you choose Nashville Hot, general Tso's , Mango habanero & quite a few other flavors. It's similar to a chipotle but definitely with a nice flavor switch up. The service has always been fast, friendly & patient. It's spacious in there so not quite sure why they aren't a little busier but I think this would be a perfect lunch spot during the work week. Until a recent somewhat accidental visit to Bubbakoo's Burritos, the only thing I knew about them was what I'd seen in reviews. So it happened that one Saturday afternoon we were driving long the Gene Snyder, needed lunch, and saw the Bubbakoo's sign on the side of the road. A few exclamation points later (Me: OOHH! Wifey: WHAT??! Me: Bubbakoo's! I've been wanting to try them!! Wifey: What kind of food is it? Me: BURRITOS!!! Wifey: Let's go!!!!) and we were walking in the door. Bubbakoo's is similar to a number of Mexican fast-casuals in that you add your ingredients as your food is prepared. Think Moe's or QDoba or Chipotle and you get the idea...but with a larger variety of items to choose from. Being a Saturday afternoon the place was pretty quiet. We were perusing the menu when a gentleman (who turned out to be one of the owners) came out behind the counter to greet us. We told him this was our first visit and he offered to help guide us. At one point he went back behind the counter and gave us samples of a few things to help us make our decisions. (Fair warning: One of the sauces he had me sample is hot. And by "hot" I mean "HOT". And by "HOT" I mean "H A W T ! ! That heat stayed with me for probably over an hour) After we got out food and were sitting down Owner Guy (whose name we never got) came to check on us. We told him everything was EXCELLENT and that I loved the variety of food items he offered. He offered use some deep fried cauliflower and it was outstanding! He brought us some Love Chips (which sounds almost dirty) as a dessert item with 3 different sauces and they were amazingly awesome as well. Throughout the remainder of our visit Owner Guy visited to chat and check how things were. He was very pleasant and wanted to make sure things were great (They were!). The rest of the staff was busy stocking the line and making sure the place was clean and tidy. I'm glad we finally got to visit Bubbakoo's. I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon around 1 o'clock to partake in this new establishment for me. I was greeted when I walked in and asked what I would like. I got a Nashville hot chicken burrito. It contained white rice, chicken, Nashville style and pickles. I did not really enjoy it much at all. Unfortunately it was around $10 I'd not finish it so usually if I don't finish something up by then it's not getting more than two. oh I unfortunately will not be back. My wife and I were driving down to the bourbon trail and stopped here on the way for lunch. We had never eaten here before and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did. This is like a Chipotle where you choose what you want on your burrito or quesadilla. I added the teriyaki sauce to mine at the end. The quesadilla was huge and had a nice crispness. This was the best I had ever eaten! My quesadilla could have been for two meals, but I couldn't stop eating it. You have got to try this place if you want a great meal with large portions! I've heard about Bubbakoo's for a while and noticed the location on Shelbyville, but heard that one closed. I got the chance to try it while I was in Columbus, OH. This location is the closest one to me. It's located in a busy area where there's a Kroger, a Starbucks, and tons of other eating spots. Parking was easy since there were lots of spots open, but the Starbucks drive-thru made it a bit hectic. When I walked in, the place was empty. Then again, it was past peak lunchtime. I got a bowl with brown rice, black beans, pico, hot salsa, grilled chicken, corn salsa, and Nashville hot. I also got a bowl for my sister: brown rice, half black and half pinto beans, pico, hot salsa, grilled chicken, corn salsa, and mango habanero. It's a good amount of food. Prices and portion sizes rival Qdoba and Chipotle. They have more options though. You can do tacos and quesadillas, but they've got other types of shells and such. I like that they have more spicier sauce options. Unfortunately, they were out of lettuce but seems there's a nationwide shortage. I'll be back! read more

Brand new establishment that the family and I happened to walk in on during opening night. The setup is a Qdoba, Moe's type setup where it is hex mex setup where you order and they prepare in front of you (or you could say a tex mex subway). For opening night the staff did great. They were buzzing around and seemed well trained. Experienced no hiccups and they processed the long lines quickly. I personally got the chicken quesadilla which was pretty good. Nothing spectacular but still good. Very similar taste to other fast food or quick serve Tex mex places quesadillas. The wife got a taco salad and she said it was really good. Much better than Taco Bell's. My oldest daughter got nachos with queso cheese and she said they were very good as well. We also splurged for the sake of our fellow yelpers and got there two deserts (that's how I'll justify it to myself). They were Oreo balls and love chips. They came with either caramel or raspberry topping options on both. We chose the caramel. Both were phenomenal. The Love chips taste like state fair funnel cakes but a much softer bite. Very tasty. The Oreo balls should be illegal. Amazing tasting. Can't go wrong with either desert. And hey if you want order both. I won't judge you obviously. Pricing wasn't bad at all. We got 2 desserts, 4 entree and drinks and only paid 53 bucks. Plenty of food and for a family of 6 that's cheap. All in all we were highly impressed. This location. Is in crestwood which is about 25 min drive form out house. So it's a lengthy drive so not sure how often we will be out this way. There cups say "now franchising" and near my house in fern creek they are suppose to start that massive Southepoint commons over by the gene Snyder and bardstown exit. Maybe a decision maker will read this and make that there second location here in Louisville. I think it would do very well and they would have a regular customer from my family of 6 . read more

When we asked for queso on our nachos, the guy disappeared to the back room and emerged with what we thought was a fresh batch. Updating my review of Bubbakoo's Burritos. This place gets a solid 3 from me. The place is busy for sure. Lots of people in line but the line went quickly last night. Many people seem to be ordering online or in the app and picking up. I had a steak burrito with white rice, pinto beans, shredded cheese, pico de Gallo, mild salsa, sour cream and cilantro. This is my go to burrito almost anywhere and sometimes I do chicken. The burrito tasted like it should. The steak was cooked to order on the flattop and was tender. I also ordered the queso tots because queso, and because tots. That was quite delicious!! The queso has some mild chiles in it and was a great mild spicy but a little kick, thick, cheesy flavor. I passed by this place for a few weeks and finally got the opportunity to give it a try... I'm SO glad I did! The staff was polite and helpful during my visit. They even offered recommendations since it was my first time. They were running a taco Tuesday special, 3 (massive) tacos for only $6! Their menu was unique, offering a variety of meats, sauces, toppings, and even sides. They really put a spin on Tex-Mex! Food quality was poor. Chicken (boneless wings) was severely over cooked and hard to eat. Burrito was dry and had very little taste. What was worse...the service. - Employees were more concerned with hanging out and joking with one another. Acted as if I interrupted them by coming in place an order. -Also, employees were making fun of the name "General Tso's". Trying to say it with an Asian accent, making jokes about the name. - Third issue...all employees left the building. Customer walked in to order...no employees to be found. Customer walked out and left. When I left, I noticed employees out in the parking lot just standing around talking. This connects back to my first bullet point. The food is pretty similar, with a few different unusual options like curly fries with queso, tater tots, and wings. So as far as overall taste of food and atmosphere, it was good. Just feel like I could've gotten about the same amount of food for a much cheaper price at a Qdoba. For two people for lunch, it cost us $40. (sry i couldn't help it) but seriously, the recently opened bubbakoos burritos crispy buffalo chicken quesadillas are now the only quesadillas i want for the rest of time. also pictured are the equally delicious queso tots, chiwawa bowls & fried oreos. it was an indulgent, delicious meal and the employees were very helpful with our indecisiveness on what to get. there's a little bit for everyone here, including some much less indulgent options for a healthier meal. my only flaw with this was service is still not streamlined and a bit messy. everyone was nice, but obviously still have some issues in communication. read more

This great new spot is serving up delicious food, in a Covid safe manner, including delivery! Stopped in to grab some grub to-go & was blown away. For those who haven't been there, think Moes or Chipotle, but BETTER. While going down the line building my bowl, the staff even helped me learn I was pronouncing Barbacoa incorrectly. Tried to order ahead on the website, but it didn't work. Would not let me log in. So I had my order already queued up when I entered the store on Factory Lane. I ordered and the guys behind the counter spoke little English, which is fine. We got through it. No one was in there and I ordered 2 items a burrito that we got done right then and a Chiwawa that I guess requires more work. I wait about 7-10 minutes while they did their thing. Finally got the food and the total was $29.69! I looked at what I ordered on the website and it was $21.68. I asked why it was so much and they muddled words about extra veggies and queso. I was SUPER PISSED, but paid and walked away. It got to me and I returned to the store where the manager was there and I asked him how I could've ordered $8 worth of add-ons for 2 items that were not extra meat or something significant. I pretty much stuck to the basics when ordering. He gets out a calculator and has a meeting with his boys and begins to bang away at the calculator and somehow arrives at the exact amount. I've been to the Saint Matthews one a couple of times before they closed and I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best food but I still liked it since it was different than chipotle or qdoba. My boyfriend and I were wishing we could have had it one last time before it closed so when we found out there was another location near us we were excited. We went in a little bit ago and the first thing I noticed was how dirty the place was. I am a GM at a restaurant nearby and we deep clean each week. This place just had built up grime. When I went to go fill up my drink it looked like a drink had been spilled all over the drink area and no one cleaned up (it was dead when I went in there). The employee was also on the phone when he was taking our order. When we sat down to eat our food I tried to force myself to eat it since I spent money on it, but I could not. The rice was so crunchy in every bite and the chicken was cold. My boyfriend had said the same thing about the rice. It sucks because we enjoyed the other location but the food was not the same. read more

This is outrageous... I walked in and I ordered the shrimp and steak burrito... the shrimp is clearly old and the steak is completely inedible. Super chewy I literally has to spit it out. Not only that, but the SINGLE burrito was $15 and was literally maybe 1/3rd of Chipotle or Qdoba portions size and not even 1/10th of the quality of meat or veggies. This meat tasted like its been sitting around since this morning, nothing was fresh. I will never be returning to this restaurant again and ill make sure to let everybody know the food was awful and expensive... I ordered chips and queso, got queso but no chips, and the love chips I got didn't have the powered sugar so the taste was kind of disappointing basically greasy chips with caramel. Had to ask for extra salsa as young woman behind counter acted as if she might've used too much to begin with.. which their serving spoon for such is super shallow. Come on people, salsa is cheap!! With the same customizable options, they've included some exciting flavor offerings and combinations that at first may seem strange, but I think it offers a new angle for Mexican takeout. The restaurant is trying to do the typical trendy thing of being housed in a big, open space with music blaring so loud it's difficult to communicate with the staff, especially through masks. The person assembling our food was not friendly, and when we asked how spicy the mango sauce was, she responded flatly, "I don't know." (We later discovered there is a small guide posted telling the customers how spicy each flavor is -- would have been much better if the staff member would have just referred us to that.) The person ringing up our order didn't know how to use the coupon we presented, however he was very friendly, was able to answer questions, and seemed to care about what he was doing. I'd rather have that than the person who was assembling my food who acted like she really did not want to be there. I had the ghost pepper chicken bowl, and it was very good. I would definitely order it again. Quite spicy but still full of flavor. Not as many topping options are available as at a Qdoba or Chipotle, but there were still plenty of ingredients to make a satisfying, tasty meal. The worst part of the experience was the price -- seemed very expensive. I was glad I had a BOGO coupon. I noticed that they had a poster on the wall advertising a "deal" of 6 tacos and a small bag of chips...for 40 dollars! While I really did enjoy my food, I probably won't be back too often given the steep prices. Order #4256755, 1/29/2021, Factory Lane Location..............What a trainwreck. I ordered online at 5:43pm and they gave me 6:13pm pickup time. When I got there, the line was to the door and there were many people waiting like me to pick up online orders. Tensions were high. The family that walked in the door in front of me got all the way through the line, paid and took their to-go order before I got my food. I ended up with my food at 6:56pm. Let's be honest, the food is good, but 30% overpriced. Meal for 3 (no drinks) was $46.00. From the hour that I stood there I observed almost no one working the online orders. Out of the 15 people working there, only 1 person was working online orders. They got 1 online order out every 12 minutes. I understand growing pains, but this was ridiculous. Had I not already paid, I would have left after 30 minutes. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

We stopped by around 1:30 today for our first visit. They were quite busy with all the tables full and a long line of customers (and food delivery drivers). As others have stated, this place is a lot like Moe's or Qdoba but the menu is a bit more extensive with wings, onion rings and more. Plus, I found the price points a couple of buck higher than other places. Service was pretty slow, but I'll give them a pass here as they are so new. I got a burrito bowl and the food was just OK. I'd say the other, similar places have better quality. The lettuce was very fresh and the salsas were good. But much of the rest of the food didn't seem very fresh. The corn salsa reminded me of something you'd get from a food service provider and not something was made fresh, in house. Same for the guacamole (and I'm sorry but squeezing it out of the tube does not add to the appeal). The rice and beans were so so/forgettable. While the behind-the-counter staff was friendly, there were two employees (maybe from corporate???) that were sitting at a table browsing their text messages. After we paid, we couldn't find an open seat. Why did these employees need to take a spot from customers? And why, when the place was so busy, weren't they behind the counter helping serve food? Management also needs to do a better job policing social distancing in the store. There was no way for customers to stand 6' apart from one another. And, while there is a sneeze guard between customers and the food, it really doesn't do its job when customers are allowed to lean over it and breathe down on the food. They're still new and I'll give them a few weeks to get things going better and then I'll try again. But there are no shortage of places like this in the market and they'll have to step up their game if they want to compete. read more

The food was good. I got the pork quesadilla and it was delicious. The only issue I had was that they charge $2.30 for a fountain drink that might hold a can of soda if you're lucky. I was really unimpressed with the presentation of our items. We ordered a steak bowl that looked like everything had been slopped in there like it was a school cafeteria lunch, and had literally one single piece of lettuce. It was a grey-looking mess that looked really unappetizing. The taco salad was incredibly sparse, filled maybe 1/3 of the way up. I appreciate the diverse proteins they offere, but if I want fast-casual Mexican food, I'll be sticking to Chipotle. read more
