Typically, I go with mixed fajitas. I've convinced myself they're the healthier option. "Try something different" my wife suggested. So, I went with the El Nopal baked potato fajitas. A reasonable compromise, I thought. Wrong. What I was served was nothing like the menu's picture. There was no baked potato. There was a substantial amount of potato chunks, no doubt from a previously baked potato. The potatoes were sparsely covered with some grilled veggies, but nothing like you'd get with a sizzling plate. The entire dish was smothered under a layer of watery cheese. I pointed out to our server I had ordered mixed meat and my dish only came with chicken. To his credit, he came back a few minutes later with the missing steak. I should have stuck with my usual. The reason I keep going back to El Nopal is the friendliness of their staff & their portion size. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants around here serving similar food. But the service is not the same. At El Nopal the staff has always made me feel welcomed & are extremely nice. Also their portion size is amazing! I always leave with a to go box full of leftovers. Had lunch there today. I have been craving the fajitas so we decided to go to one of our favorite places. I ordered the mixed (chicken & steak) fajitas for two. I wanted left- overs! My man got the mixed nachos and added shrimp. Everything was excellent. Price for the mixed fajitas for two is $35 but I'm going to take my leftovers to work for the next couple of days. Plus sometimes I like to scramble some eggs in my fajita meat and have it for breakfast. So good. read more

El Nopal was a nice change of pace from the other restaurants in the area. They serve you with a bowl of chips and salsa after you sit down which is always my favorite part at any Mexican restaurant. First off, they were only accepting cash tonight. Between my wife and I we were able to pay for dinner with our daughter. Adrian was our server and did a fine job. We had chips and salsa x 2 which was very good. I had 2 chicken burritos with white sauce versus red sauce. That is a $2 upcharge. I guess white sauce is more expensive sauce. The red is okay, but I prefer white cheese sauce. This sauce was yellow, but tasty regardless. My wife had a taco salad which looked good and she enjoyed. Our daughter had chimichanga dinner, I think. It looked good and she got full before she finished it. She doesn't eat much since getting The Shot. The restaurant filled up after we got there around 6p. There appeared to be a little wait for people when we left. I have now dined at this location several times, always satisfied with food and service. read more

Very similar to all of the other El Nopals. The food is consistent and there is a very large selection. Both times that I went the service was lacking though, but it was still very new. My favorite dish is the seafood burrito. The location itself is convenient with plenty of parking. You pay at the front once you are finished with your meal. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch. The staff was the most friendly I have ever experienced. Had the chicken fajitas lunch portion so much food could not finish. I was the only one at the bar with no bartender but my drink was never empty and I was not ignored like I have been other places while sitting by yourself. This was my first time at El Nopal and I am quite pleased. We started our dinner with a Queso appetizer to go with our chips and salsa. Wow! The queso was a huge boat. Not your typical size you get at Mexican restaurants. I was already a happy camper. For our entrees we ordered a Chicken Fajita Quesadilla Grande, and Chicken Fajita Nachos. Everything tasted wonderful and there was so much food. Easily had 3 meals worth of leftovers. Sadly I left them on the table when we left. Went to order two veggie burritos tonight and the man at the counter told me the kitchen does not have time for that. I placed an order for other things but after getting in the car to wait I decide I didn't want to do business with them because he was very hateful! I called back to cancel the order (not even 2mins) and he was mad and he hung up on me! The most unprofessional experience I have ever had. This was truly disappointing. We went in expecting to have a quick meal and ended up being there over 1.5 hours. The food was SO slow to get to the table, over 45 minutes. My carnitas was inedible it was so fatty. It was also DROWNING in queso. Everyone else's food was tolerable. The service started out great but then our server disappeared for an intolerable length of time. He did apologize for the food taking so long but only after we'd already gotten it. Then he disappeared again and it took eons to get the bill! For an near empty restaurant at 6PM I would expect better service. We won't go back. read more

Your typical Mexican fare. The menu is quite large and difficult to navigate. If you have a favorite Mexican dish, it's on there -- somewhere. The salsa is great! My daughter would drink the mild sauce with a straw if I let her. I mix the hot with the mild since you get your own carafe of each and your own dipping plate. The staff is friendly but slow. Refills come even slower. Plenty of TVs to stare at. They seem to be tuned to sports commentary channels, which is boring at best. I never had a bad dish. I recommend the choripollo -- chorizo and chicken. The chorizo is spicer than most places. The chicken in mole sauce is very good if you like mole. It's an acquired taste. Don't be surprised if your fish comes with the head still on. Fajitas are below average. If you have the time and don't want any surprises other than the occasional fish head, try El Nopal. read more

Stopped by this afternoon after picking my kids up from school. Placed a carry out order and get home and they did not give me the sides for my fajitas. I paid $16 for a half filled tin of mostly vegetables and some chicken. I should have read the reviews before going. The quality and quantity of food here has gone downhill. I am a huge fan of having tacos in "Taco Tuesday" with a good margarita. I ordered chicken and beef tacos with a pitcher of margaritas to-go. We have been to this place a handful of times and keep looking for something memorable. I hate to complain given our very few good food options, and our area will soon be infiltrated with chains galore. I just wish the chains learned how to make food right! The food here is mediocre (at best). We have ordered multiple items in the menu and you can find better options with better flavors pretty much everywhere else (when compared to two others like El Sombrero and Señor Iguanas, the latter of which is fantastic!). I usually judge a restaurant's food by how easy it would be to top it at home, in my own kitchen, and of the random smattering of things we have sampled, I may as well open my own restaurant. Finally, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. I think the restaurant is too big and it always seems empty. It doesn't have the cute, cozy and warm feeling a Mexican restaurant should have. Just "eh." A few positives: Lots of menu options, affordable, quick if you are exhausted and hungry from a late day at work (mostly the reason we come, probably for the last time), and they have huge beers on draft (limited options but still a good value). I order a burrito al carbon (chicken) the tortilla was not warm before putting in the microwave, burrito was dull, cheese dip had no flavor, chicken was not good at all. This is a pretty good "standard" Mexican food option. It's not exactly mind blowing, but it will get the job done. Being very close to our house, It's kind of our default "go out if we work late and don't feel like cooking dinner" option. My favorite thing to get that I've found so far is probably the "Pollo al Chipotle" which comes with a delicious creamy chipotle sauce. As with most Mexican restaurants, portions are pretty big and food comes out extremely fast. We've never had a problem with service. Chips and salsa are addicting. I would certainly recommend this place if you need a fairly quick meal. read more

This is your average Mexican restaurant. My experience here was not all that great. The service was slow...not to mention the waitress wasn't able to explain what certain menu items were. For example, I asked what the stuffed pepper was stuffed with. She mentioned she didn't know how to explain it. I ordered the pepper...The stuffed pepper was stuffed with cheese. Just cheese. I also did not receive my avocado salad that came with my meal. When I asked for it, I received a nod and no avocado salad came my way. This restaurant will never be visited by me again. I like El Nopal but they really need to get nicer people hosting. Went there on Sat. May 25th about 6pm and the girl hosting was very rude. Didn't even say hi, as soon as we walked in all she said was 2 and walked us to our table and practically threw the menus on the table and kept walking. I thought wow, we should have turned around and left, I will next time. But our server Valeria was really sweet and did a great job, she needs to be hosting and the other one needs to be out the door. Had the hostess been nice I would have given 5 stars.
