Tony's Transmissions - Car straight out of a dream..

Tony's Transmissions

I brought in my old Sienna in from a referral from the Auto Clinic in Frankfort :-) I explained the…read moretransmission symptoms and error code diagnosed so far. Tony said they were backed up and I offered to drop it off early just in case Tony and team got some extra time, as the family had an urgent college move-in date to make :-) Tony and team got the sensor part in and quickly turned it around, including some Q/A to make sure it was stable. Pricing with parts and labor was very reasonable.

Brought my 2010 Volkswagen Jetta with 165k miles to the dealership in Joliet in 2024 for a check…read moreengine light whose code showed a transmission sensor. They advised me that to get into the trans and change that, they should replace the whole transmission for a couple hundred more, otherwise they couldn't guarantee the work. And they charged $150 for this "diagnosis". They wanted thousands of dollars for a new transmission, and I was stuck because I couldn't take the emissions test to renew my plates with a check engine light on. Brought it to Tony's Transmissions, and he replaced the sensor in a few days for a few hundred dollars. I can't remember the exact amount because I paid cash and it was about a year ago, but I just saw his business pop up when I was doing a search and remembered that I should have left him a review back then. He really did great work. Check engine light was off, car passed emissions, and we drove it for another year before selling it a friend for his teenage son. Car is still running strong.

The ignorant receptionist proceeds to tell me, there is a transmission issue. (Well No shit sherlock). She goes on to tell me they did the diagnostic test but they dont know what is causing it and would need to most likely do a rebuild on the tranny orrrr . . . we can drive it the way it is. So let me get this straight, you dont know whats wrong with it, but it needs rebuilt? They still wanted to charge me the $120 diagnostic fee to tell me what I already knew. They admitted they did a "reset" on my vehicle which is considered "unauthorized work" as I did not grant them permission to do so. It is NOT necessary to do a reset to run a diagnostic test. They knew they were wrong, after they tried to belittle my wife and I, I walked out paying nothing. They did not want to provide an itemized list of what their diog consisted of because the list would have said: checked tranny fluid and test drive. Horrible customer service. They say I was rude and used profanities. (I did) Well, thats what most people will do when you try to rob them of their hard earned money. Stay Away From These Nickle and Dime Con Artist !
