Skip was the founder/owner of AleSmith Brewing Company when we first met and he is still quite active in QUAFF, our local homebrew club. For this reason, I chose to give Skip a shot when I elected to refinance my home mortgage. I've always thought you'd get a better deal when working with a direct lender as opposed to a mortgage broker. However, that is not true. Mortgage brokers can provide the same service and competitive rates as a direct lender. It doesn't cost you any more to use a broker, and they have access to multiple lenders. Working with Skip was great, but I expected nothing less. The entire refinance process was very smooth and efficient. With all of the new laws and regulations, I didn't expect it to be so easy. It took just a little over six weeks from start to finish. We were able to do everything by phone or email, and the notary came to our home for final document signing. This was the quickest I've ever closed on a loan. Throughout the process Skip keep me informed. His knowledge and experience clearly resulted in the best loan execution rate available. But once my house had the first open house, she did nothing more to promote it and even told me she "held back marketing" due to her thinking on challenges I was experiencing without even asking if I wanted a pause on promotion. She helped me organize my garage in prep. which was really appreciated and I took her out to dinner to thank her and she offered some referrals for repair work which unfortunately turned out to not be as professional as they should have been, and I had to hire additional people to fix the problems. I took my house off the market and now more than 2 weeks later she still has not returned my house key. "I'll get back to you as soon as I can"...Now a week later with no key. It's clear I was never a priority. Interesting she bashed Redfin as not being involved in listings with their 1% fee, and yet, she has now made herself worse than what she felt threatened by. She said Refin realtors were hands off after the first open house and this was not far off after all was said and done. But after the open house out of the blue instantly said my house was over priced without any consultation to pricing before listing. It was just a total about face to side with agents who came to the house. The market changed dramatically the week I listed, not for the better. But she did not ask me about not marketing the house- she just did that on her own. Leaving me with the feeling that the listing was not a high priority.
