This place is great! I've been a number of times. While I don't usually write reviews, Brushstrokes is a cut above. The staff has always been so friendly and helpful helping me with ideas and techniques to create pieces I can be proud of. Plus, there are regularly rotating examples of the kinds of things you can create that surround the space and provide inspiration. I took my son in when he was an infant to make hand and foot imprints which now hang on his wall. It turned out beautifully! He regularly holds his hand up to it to see how he's grown. I've also made birthday and Christmas gifts for friends and family which were uniformly appreciated. Most recently I attended the platter class which I highly recommend. We were given expert advice and the opportunity to paint on a quiet evening. It's a fun way to release some creative energy. read more

What a totally fun place! I had my 38th birthday party here after hours complete with wine, sushi and music (yes, we supplied the stuff). For those of us who are older, I recommend after hours. That said, I spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon at Brushstrokes painting ceramics with friends. The reason for four stars is that there's always a risk of a kids' birthday party and a bit more noise and commotion than some artists like. read more

She had books for inspiration, and she is a wealth of knowledge as well as very patient. I really love this place. My kids love it too. It is the place where you can go and be creative with a group, alone or with children. The people are always helpful. The sitting fees are reasonable. The summer camps, (which my daughters have attended every year since they could), are fantastic. I wish they had more teen activities- which would be great (Classes or camps for tweens/teens) but other than that- They color me happy! read more

My goddaughter and I took her mom here for her 51st birthday and the three of us had a total blast. We spent over two hours choosing our dishes, designing and painting our bowls and platters, and chatting. My goddaughter revealed hidden talents. And my friend, in spite of her protests of not being an artist, created a masterpiece inspired by some stuff on the wall created by "real" artists. It was social fun, therapeutic, and amazingly practical in the end (I've been needing a new pasta bowl for years). Warn kids that they will have to wait a week to see the final results--frustrating for some into instant gratification, but very rewarding for others. read more

Me and my cousins brought our nieces here for the first time. They have a nice selection of pottery and a good amount of paint, brushes, and stencils. Their studio fees and pottery pricing are about the same as other places. I just would have liked their studio to be bigger. read more

Bonnie at Brushstrokes helped me and my friends the other day and she was absolutely wonderful. We had are toddlers with us and she was extremely patient with us and with them and made us feel very welcome. I strongly suggest getting in their with your tot and getting some foot and hand prints for memory sake. It is worth the money! read more

A friend and I stopped in for a girls night out. We had the entire place to ourselves. I painted a casserole dish and a cupcake, my friend made a mug. They have a pretty good selection of colors, and the woman working there was very helpful and friendly. My ceramics fired beautifully. Overall we had a great time! I absolutely love this place. We've been going since my daughter was a baby--first to make little prints of her hands--and now she is six-and-a-half and she works on her own pieces right alongside me. We make all our holiday gifts there. When we were doing home renovations, I hand painted new outlet and light switch covers there. When I opened my own business, I made a business card holder for my new work space. My daughter and I have made pieces together that have been fabulous reminders of our sweet times together. It's a great place to go to add some art to any part of your life. The studio staff are attentive and have lots of great ideas--they are true artists themselves and will get into your project and make suggestions (if you want). My daughter even went to a camp last summer (and the staff who were her teachers still remember her name when we come in to paint these months later). It's inspirational just to walk in the door. It's a juicy way to spend the afternoon with your children. Or without your kids, just for your own fun! read more

I went today for the first time with my creative but wiggly 3 year old and we had a great time! The staff are amazing - we worked with Lauren and loved her guidance and help. The staff was extremely helpful in my design. I decided to paint a teapot with a bamboo handle. I was gently cautioned against stamps and shown all the options to make a beautiful design. Loved that helpful tips were suggested in detail (I didn't really have any idea what I was doing.) While there were no kids in my party, the staff was AMAZING with kids. She knew exactly what to do when toddlers got a little fussy. I mean, I was in shock. The only negative thing is that since only one person was working the front and so many customers at the same time, there was a slight wait to get started and pay. We weren't in a rush, so it didn't bother us at all but just as a heads up. Carve out some time and really enjoy the experience. Definitely will back! read more

I have spent some good time with friends here, just painting and relaxing. It can get a little pricey tho, so if your on a budget I suggest going after 5 on weekdays as the flat rate rate is reduced to $5 (compared to $7). Also, I have really gotten into making tiles, they are cheap and fun and can be hung on the wall or used as coasters!! read more

I love it here. My kids and I always have a great time and it's really cool to make some art that we use. I would give it five stars except it's a small fortune. Really. For the three of us to spend two hours and make, say, a mug, a plate and a small animal the bill will be between $60-$100... we seem to average $30 per person once we spend the studio fee and purchase what we're going to make. I would love to come here more often.. but we just can't swing it. It is really nice for a special day. read more

I've always liked going to this place with the kids and have always been pleased with the end results, but I'm moved to write a review today because of something SO awesome they just did for me. One of the beloved pieces my son made BROKE into many many pieces. I reached out to them for advice on what kind of glue to use to repair and instead they just offered to fix it for me. They saved me a ton of work and did a much better job than I could have. Such a great experience! read more

so annoyed! Great idea, and nicely done...but really now.. the prices are over the top. The ten dollar studio fee on top of the basic item price is just silly. My 9-year-old daughter attended a week-long summer camp at Brushstrokes last month and had a great experience. She learned a lot--they read books and discussed some modern art movements--she made a lot of fun pieces in different media, and she liked everything from the snacks to the soap at the outdoor sink. I was there for a few extra minutes several days, and saw that the teachers were really engaged and kind, which made for a great atmosphere. A wonderful and beautiful art space, and great staff and programs as well! read more

I really appreciated my experience painting a plate which included prints of my newborn daughter's feet. But, when I came back yesterday to pick up my item after 7 days, as the sign in-store reminds customers to do, I was told they were running behind on firing a number of orders. When asked when I should return, they had no date of pick up to give me. Then, when asked if they would call me once done, they said they don't call customers but instead I could call them when I was thinking of coming in. Well, now it seems I should spend my time calling everyday until I get an affirmative answer. With a newborn at home, there is nothing more frustrating than wasting time chasing after a business, especially for something I've already paid for and had expected to receive per their own policy. If you need something timely like as a gift for a special occasion, don't come here, at least not right now. read more

I attended Brushstrokes' Platter Painting class for adults last spring, and found it to be a great delight! It provided me the rare opportunity of dedicating a few hours to self-indulgent creativity, in a medium that I'm not necessarily used to... Since then, I've been back with my 1-year old niece to make some precious footprint impressions- keepsakes that our family will cherish. I've found the staff to be totally helpful and accommodating, and the atmosphere to be refreshing and lively. I consider myself a regular client now! read more

Needed something to do with our 3 year old son and 6 year old daughter. Kids had a great time choosing and painting ceramic dish and dinosaur. It wasn't very crowded at all for a Saturday afternoon; lots of open tables. Only down side is that that while we enjoyed the experience, it's a bit pricey at ~$50-60 for 1.5 hours of fun. Big up side is that kids have something they eventually get to take home and put on display or use. read more

Wow - Brushstrokes is a lot of fun. I found out about it from Living Social, which I used to purchase $45 worth of studio time and pottery painting for $22. I brought my 6 year old and together we painted four pieces of pottery, so I spent more than planned. My daughter did a week of summer camp here. Her class was titled Movements in modern art. They made a set of plates using impressionism, pointillism, cubism, surrealism, and expressionism. My daughter is only 5, but her work looked amazing. They really learn about each method. She also really enjoyed her teacher and the whole experience. We will sign up for more classes in the future. I've been coming to Brushstrokes ever since they opened years and years ago. It's always been something that feels like a treat--to myself, to the people I bring with me. I've brought toddlers here to plaster their handprints onto pottery and those kids are now teenagers--but the memories are right there on the clay, in the colors, in our memories. Jesse is a wonderful person, a delight to be around, and she hires staff that matches her commitment to customer service. Go, treat yourself, make a gift for someone that is absolutely one of a kind! AAAAAH! Brushstrokes has had a makeover. The small space has been transformed and a recent visit was better than ever. They have moved the pottery to the opposite wall, taken the paints and stamps out of the main walkway put the register in a sensible spot and moved extra brushes (complete with instructions on why to use them) next to the paints. You have to see it to believe how much easier it is now to enjoy an hour or two freeing your inner artist. read more

My daughter and a friend surprised me with a visit to Brushstrokes on a recent Saturday afternoon. We had a great time. We must have appeared very competent because we didn't receive any guidance or instruction. I was surprised at the cost; 1 cereal bowl, 2 four inch tiles, 2 letters and one small heart was over $90. Lovely place to bring your kids and friends. First time I visited Brushstrokes and I absolutely enjoyed myself. My daughter and I went on a Saturday when it was a fairly busy morning but the staff was so friendly and attentive that we honestly felt as if we were the only ones there! The young lady who helped us walked me through three different "pottery painting" skills before I chose bubbles as the winner. She encouraged me to try anything that looked fun despite my lack of artistic abilities and I am so glad she did because my plate looked lovely. Not only that, but seeing the young lady help and have fun with my daughter and the kids sitting at the table across from us clearly showed me that this is a place where kids and adults of any age can have a fantastic time. Only small set back is that you have to wait a week to get your pottery back. We were a bit disappointed by this only because we were anxious to see how the pottery turned out. I have already made plans with some girlfriends to return and try out a new skill for next time. read more

I love this place. The atmosphere is cheerful, warm, and full of creative energy. Its enjoyable just sitting and looking around at all the art displayed on the wall. I recently held a mosaic party for my best friend's bridal shower and was even more impressed. We had a beautiful room upstairs all to ourselves, and I was encouraged by staff to bring food and wine for my guests. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. I have been going to Brushstrokes for years, but recently went to make a fathers' day gift with my 14 year old and once again found it to be a place of endless inspiration. Jessie, the owner has positive energy for everyone and her staff are always gracious, thoughtful and seem happy to be there. They also always have great advice on where to take a design if you are stuck, or how to cover a mistake. The camps are well thought out and the groups for adults are a fun way to catch up with friends while tapping into one's creativity. Every time I make a cup of tea and use one the mugs that our kids have made over the years, I smile at the memory of where they when they made it and how far they have come. read more
