The team did an absolutely bang up job stripping popcorn and resurfacing our cove ceiling, plus painting. They were incredibly nice, always showed up on time, cleaned up all messes, and completed what was really quite a big job in just a week. Solid attention to detail re: caulking around trim as well. Brushed Monkey is the best painting company in Minneapolis. We worked with Donnie and his team to revitalize a house we recently purchased, and we couldn't be happier with the results. They did amazing work to transform an outdated kitchen into a bright and clean environment that is both welcoming and joyful. They painted all of the trim throughout our home, bringing a cleaner look and better aesthetic continuity to the house. They cleaned up the glazing and repainted all of our exterior windows and made them look new again. Brushed Monkey did even more awesome work for us, but I only have so much space for my review. I can't say enough good things about Brushed Monkey. They are fabulous! Best painters we've ever had! We had been living with a color we were tired of but kept putting off painting our living room and stairwell, which are 20 feet high, as well as having the popcorn removed from the ceiling. We thought it would be a huge mess and take forever. Luckily, we were wrong. Once Donnie's team got started they moved ahead like a well oiled machine. Even by the very low standards we have of drywall subcontractors brushed monkey did nearly zero clean up whatsoever when they'd finished our job. Tona of drywall dust and mud clumps everywhere. And while we didn't expect much of the firetaping they did in our garage we are fairly sure they used the space as an opportunity to train someone with zero experience--and they did not supervise them. read more

My home was built in '54 and the kitchen cabinets were the original white oak. Prior to hiring Brushed Monkey, I had extensive work done to the rest of my house. Donnie came to the house to do an on-site quote for our vaulted ceiling entryway. He was very knowledgeable and really spent time with us to understand what we were looking for. Although we received other quotes, we felt most comfortable moving forward with Brushed Monkey. The project ended up taking a full day more than originally quoted and we changed the color of the paint midway through. Donnie and his team were extremely patient and understanding through this process. We are so pleased with the work done. We had our entire condo painted including the doors and baseboards. We did 2 accent walls with red Venetian plaster which is our favorite part of our home so far. We were living in New York while most of the work was completed which made it a little more difficult but Donnie was great at answering all of our questions (we had a lot as first time home owners!) and organizing the work. I just had Donnie and team from Brushed Monkey complete a painting job on my house yesterday, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From my first phone call to Donnie to the last painter leaving yesterday, they have been nothing short of professional and friendly. Donnie responded to my first voicemail same day and was able to give a competitive estimate within 24 hours. That weekend, Donnie then came by (free of charge) to see the space and also consult on colors. He even helped us select a brand new color for our bedroom after it became clear we weren't in love with the original swatch we chose. The night before painting, Donnie called me to confirm the team coming the next day. At the time there was a chance of snow / freezing rain, so Donnie offered to add a THIRD painter to the team of two free of charge to ensure "the job didn't run into the evening". The three painters who did the job (J.C., Andi, and a foreman) were super friendly, punctual, respectful and great at their job. They were especially patient with my ever-eager dog who kept popping in to the rooms while they were painting. Donnie and his team were so great to work with. They went so above and beyond in painting our rental unit. We are a young couple, first time landlords, planning (and paying for!) a wedding, so our budget was tight. We asked Donnie to only do the walls (excluding ceiling and trim) to save a little bit on the overall bill, but he really felt the ceilings needed some help so he did those at a discounted rate to help us out. We hired Brushed Monkey to remove popcorn ceilings, repair plaster, paint walls, and do a faux finish on crown molding in two rooms to match the original wood trim in our 1920s bungalow. We could not be happier with the result! It is absolutely beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Donnie and his team were friendly and professional throughout, and we felt very comfortable having the painters in our house for a week while we were at work. The popcorn ceiling removal ran into some trouble when the texture started to delaminate (which was not the painters' fault), but they ended up doing two full days of extra work on the house to make it look perfect. When we offered to pay more than the original quote due to the increased scope of the project, Donnie suggested an extremely small increase relative to the amount of extra work, which we were happy to pay. The project was finished yesterday and we are absolutely thrilled with it. Donnie and his team did a fantastic job transforming the look of our first floor with new colors. I got 3 quotes for the work, Brushed Monkey was middle of the pack, but I could immediately tell that Donnie was a consummate professional, and was the person I would trust my home to. Donnie assisted with a few color suggestions, even went so far as promising a free re-paint if I didn't like one color I was hesitant about- and it turned out gorgeous. I have heard horror stories of people working with contractors who disappear or go radio silent, and what I really appreciated was the steady stream of communication on status. Most importantly, the team was warm, friendly, and our dogs fell in love with them. I never trust our animals with strangers, and within a few days I was going to work without hesitation, and the team was in the yard playing frisbee with the dogs during their breaks. I called Donnie on a Sunday afternoon asking for a quote to paint my 1350 sq ft condo on a time crunch as I was due to go into labor that week and needed the painting done soon to sell the property. Even though he had not seen the place, he was able to get me a fairly accurate quote and also got painters out to my place within 48 hours. After the painters got there and got a better feel for the work that needed to get done, it seemed that the quote was going to be a bit higher.
