The rooms were clean, the staff were nice and efficient, and the amenities were updated and in working order. The a/c worked so well! We stayed cool the whole trip. The breakfast provided was simple (cereal, waffles, microwaveable sausage biscuits, yogurt, etc). They need more fresh fruit and some other protein options. It's carb heavy. I had three big complaints. 1. The beds were really high off the ground and my friend has knee trouble and struggled. 2. There is pool seating, but not enough lounge chairs. 3. The breezeway doors are terrible. They are wooden doors with low doorknobs. I almost got hit hard in the head. The Islander Inn had glass doors that push/pull which is safer and easier with the luggage carts.

I love my luxury hotels but I also love a hotel that's a lower price point. The hotel which opened last July is located in Mayfaire so it's close to shopping including grocery stores and restaurants. It's about a 10 minute drive to Wrightsville Beach. The lobby of the hotel is bright and welcoming. It has four different seating areas. One area is set up for people to hang out and play pool. It has an L-shaped sectional and high-top tables.. Another space is like a living room with some cool funky hanging chairs and sofas. Another has a huge flat screen to watch sports. And finally, the fourth area has high and low top tables to work and it also doubles as tables to enjoy your free breakfast in the morning. The high top tables have outlets for all your electronic gear. The check-in counter is at the center of it all. The circular check-in also has a variety of snacks and drinks for purchase. There is also a microwave. The rooms are modern with wood floors, huge flat screen TV, desk with wheels, and a refrigerator. It does not have a closet but does have a rod for hanging clothes as well as a wall with fixtures that can hold hangers. There is also an iron. The bathroom has great lighting. For us ladies, this is super important. It also has a hairdryer. I had a king bed which was super comfy. The room is spacious. I know some travelers like a little more room but for me this was perfect. I wasn't spending my whole day in a hotel room. For those that drive an EV, the parking lot has 4 EV chargers. It's also a dog friendly hotel and for those of you traveling with your hoomins there is a large glass jar of T-R-E-A-T-S on the check-in desk. I will definitely stay at this property on my next trip to Wilmington.

On Sunday the customer service at the lobby desk were just plain rude. I went to ask for air freshener for the room and they refused to give me any and said that they had to do it themselves and would be right up although she never got up off of her seat and never ever ever came to the room, we had to open the door to the balcony just to try and get some fresh air flowing to aid. We did notice housekeeping using a Wet BROOM to clean another unit. No mop anywhere to be seen. Maybe the smell was coming from improperly cleaned floors. Security was a little bit of concern as many exterior lights were out. Scariest place was outside of elevator downstairs. Also the fact that the elevator kept closing on us as we tried to get inside. Elevator acted up the entire time. We loved having the pool open and also the indoor jacuzzi and pool. Fix your own breakfast was provided. Access to beach was perfect. Sadly, this is not a place I would recommend overall due to poor customer service (don't even get me going on how you have to throw out your trash and used towels outside your door. You will receive however many towels they want to give you. Forget replacing garbage bags, coffee, etc.) noisy room (next-door to upstairs water pump that ran like a loud vacuum continuously,) and safety issues (open electrical live wires by pool.) The guests were all nice and mostly understanding of things they disliked about the property. (We didn't discuss it, we just heard conversations every day at breakfast about all of them complaining of issues I described as well as stale food or lack of things like butter.) I would most definitely go back if things were updated and some of the negative people at front desk and housekeeping changed their negative behavior.
