How can a practice use the word "hospital" if it cannot provide urgent, end-of-life care to a long-standing patient? My 17-year-old dog had been a patient at Brunswick Animal Hospital for most of her life. Over the years, I entrusted them with her care and spent a significant amount of money there without hesitation, believing we had a relationship built on trust and continuity. When she began actively dying and was clearly in distress, I called expecting urgency, guidance, and compassion. Instead, I was told they could not fit her in. I was informed I could come as a walk-in but would likely sit in the waiting room for hours. I was then referred to an emergency veterinary clinic nearly an hour away, essentially told to take my suffering senior dog elsewhere. The interaction felt cold and dismissive, completely lacking the compassion you would expect in such a devastating moment. This is the same practice where I have previously waited well beyond scheduled appointment times because emergencies and euthanasias were prioritized. I accepted that without complaint because that is what hospitals do, they respond to urgent need. What is heartbreaking is that when my own loyal, long-term patient required that same urgency at the end of her life, there was no accommodation, no sense of responsibility, and no empathy. Being told to wait for hours or drive an hour away while your 17-year-old dog is actively dying is not just inconvenient, it is profoundly painful. I will never return to this practice and would never recommend it to anyone. When it mattered most, they were cold and they were not there.

It's day 5 with her and she's had blood in her stool everyday. I've reached out and have been told there's no availability until next month. You would think they'd be all over it trying to see what the issue is or want us to bring her in since it's a pretty serious thing. Last I was told was they'd reach out to their director to see if our puppy could be seen in between a surgery tomorrow and here we are today no response back still and more blood in the stool. Went to academy animal hospital and found out she's got 9 parasites in her from being exposed to pretty much nasty environment. Fast forward 2 weeks later the puppy is healthy and gained weight. She's running playing and much happier. Go some where else trust me.

They took care of both of my babies spaying and their prices are affordable! My baby was cold so they brought her out wrapped in a blanket and were kind enough to let me keep it. You can get microchipping, spay & neuters, vaccinations, and more here. My favorite feature is that you can conveniently book an appointment through their online portal. They'll email you thorough details for your appointment and they sell a variety of pet items at their office. Lovely place!!

On November 20th I adopted a "healthy" cat as stated per staff and medical records given at the time of the adoption, I was weary to adopt from there due to the dog kennels being closed for kennel cough, I went against my intuition and better judgment and adopted my cat at a price of 125 dollars. Within 2 day my cat had progressively gotten a cough and respiratory issues tried to call however due to holidays they were closed, on the 24th when vets opened again I reached out to our private vet and was told he had a upper respiratory infection and 3 rotting teeth. Called the humane society when they reopened to see what could be done and to let them know there must have been some sort of cross contamination between the dogs and cats, they were not willing to do any kind of reimbursement for out of pocket vet fees or take responsibility that I got a sick cat with dental problems from them, instead they said " you can surrender him back to us" that was there solution to a new pet adoption. Growing up my family has always adopted from Guilford, Yancey, Forsyth county shelters and a variety of rescues and with dealing with all of these we have never been treated with these types of unprofessional staff or substandard practices. Be very cautious about bring home a pet from this particular shelter or donating money to an organization that misappropriates your money.

This store is a joke, especially after seeing that Facebook live from Ncbeat!! I've gone here over…read morethe years and have notice a serious decline in happiness and care of animals. Terrible advice overheard to unknowing customers when it comes to general knowledge, care and setup for most of the animals, let's push product before we push correct care procedures. The tall guy in fish when I happen to walk past always smells of cigarettes and weed, he somehow manages to be nasty with people while he asks if we need help when he doesn't even wear a company shirt, who can blame them for not wanting help from someone who looks like another customer it also doesn't make sense How can you be so nasty while high . I have pictures of birds, fish and so much more from my visits, I love the reptiles and birds so I have more pictures of them. It's a declining business and it shows by the overall care for these animals. More recently I've noticed Dirtier tanks, enclosures, cages & kennels. Not to mention the disgusting attitude from everyone. There are maybe two nice workers there, you have to be lucky when you visit to cross their paths. It's a fun place to look around without a doubt, When you're not getting shocked from metal shelves in reptiles or stray volts near fish tanks & manage to wear headphones to block out the disgusting tone from the unhappy staff. As an animal lover and collector I am continuously disappointed by the uneducated staff, lack of thoroughness with care and laziness from staff who never seem to be in their department. I remember, almost every visit talking to the little guy in reptiles and other customers always coming up to ask for help elsewhere in the store, only to see the rest of staff are up front laughing and joking. The experiences keep getting worse each visit, sadly this is the only store of its kind in jville. Take your family for a nice little indoor zoo, just do your best to not mirror their procedures when it comes to animal care.
