Hidden Acres Pet Resort truly feels less like a kennel and more like a private retreat for pets…read more Set on a massive, private property, it's essentially a country club-style hotel for your furry family members. We vetted several places before our trips, and each time our dogs stayed here, they came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. The staff is exceptional, genuinely kind, and attentive, which shows in every interaction. The facility itself is spacious, and we loved that they walk the dogs right at drop off to help them get acclimated and comfortable. During our recent holiday trip, our teenage son checked in on them, and the staff happily texted photos of the pups playing in the snow and having the time of their lives. Grooming was another highlight. Both dogs came home freshly trimmed, brushed, and looking fantastic. The only drawback is not having a live camera system to check in visually while you're away, which would add an extra layer of reassurance, though we fully trust they're in great hands. Overall, it's comforting to know our pets get a luxurious staycation when we're gone, and judging by their happy returns, they're just as spoiled there as they are at home. What can I say? Hidden Acres is truly PAWsome.

So very sad to be leaving Ruffin Inn. I could post a 1-star review because of how the owner…read morereached out to me, and how she made me feel because of 4 stars instead of 5. But I will not. I gave a 4-star review and Mary was not happy about it. She reached out to me inquiring why it was not 5. I was feeling bullied into giving a 5. I told her how my dogs love it there and I thought 4 was a good rating.... We had an exchange and I could go into details, but again, I won't. I don't feel the need to smear somebody and be petty online. I told her I was going to have to think about bringing them back because of how I was being treated but not that I wasn't going to. She basically referred me to other places and cancelled my info and will not allow me to log in. If anyone wants to reach out to me privately, feel free and I will explain further. This note has NOTHING to do with the staff. They were great. Owner was very unprofessional. I was extremely surprised at this. Thank you to all the staff who have loved on my babies. :)

I just had the best visit with owner April at Shooting Star Services in Elk River!…read more If you you have specific needs for training, treats and food...this is the spot!! I came here for three reasons: 1) I have a dog that pulls on the leash and she was able to fit my corgi properly with a harness (because I was certain I was doing it wrong.) and she gave me tips and encouragement to continue training for better behaviors. 2) I am super picky about ingredients in dog food and treats and she was able to give me a ton of insight to confirm my research and suggest some things to pay attention to. 3) Lastly, my dog is a chewer and I have been scared that most options out there have the risk of tooth breakage. April was able to give me lots to think about and had good options on what else would work for us.

They are knowledgeable, obviously love what they do, and their prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately, we had to put our beloved Kaitlyn down 3 weeks ago, but I was overwhelmed by the entire staff's immense love and empathy for Kaitlyn and me. They explained every step in detail. She was crying with me the whole time and petting Kaitlyn so lovingly. She hugged me genuinely twice before I left and said the sweetest words. Dr. Nelson and the staff there checked in on Kaitlyn several times over the few days before we put her down since we all thought she would improve. They fit us into their schedule with a few hours' notice on both Friday and Tuesday, acting like it wasn't a big deal to do so. She has such a tough job--all vets and vet techs do--but I'm so grateful that she was Kaitlyn's vet for the last 4 years. We had switched vets because Kaitlyn was misdiagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus instead of Cushing's Disease and because Dr. Nelson was one of the few vets who were willing to allow us to fill her prescription through a compounding pharmacy vs. a typical pharmacy that would charge 5 times the amount. Through her annual exams, sonic teeth cleanings and extractions, and annual stim tests for her Cushing's Diseaase, they cared for Kaitlyn so well and we paid much less than we did at other vets. I will never be able to express my gratitude for everything they've done for us and how they made such a heartbreaking time very peaceful. I thought I wouldn't be back for many years...but our friends couldn't keep their kitten anymore; we just had our first visit for "Pumpkin" there today. They were very loving to him, too. I highly recommend Monticello Pet hospital and Dr. Nelson if you need a vet for your pets.
