In our social distancing era, the calculus changes perhaps, as the beaches will be crowded and this place will not. Most of the actual preserve is a gravel road; you don't need four-wheel drive or anything, but you'll be dusty. Of several trails, the one at the very end, Ferry Point, leads through an interesting manicured landscape with gnarly trees encircling the path. The offshoot labeled "jack-in-the-pulpit trail" suggested some nifty pitcher-plant looking foliage, but I saw nothing like that. Maybe I just didn't know what to look for. There's a small beach, and some people were using it for boating or fishing. The water was as pleasant as I've seen on the Eastern shore; calm, clear, and with plenty of plant life. So much of the Chesapeake shore is private land that it's nice to be able to see what the scenery looks like without a McMansion, and this preserve is not a place where I'd spend the whole day, but it is convenient to stop at on the way to or from other things.

He told us to be at the dock at 6:30am. He was ready and waiting once we got there. Friendly guy who greeted us as we boarded. The boat is nice and big, there were about 2.0 people total and we didn't really feel cramped. His mate Brandon was also VERY helpful throughout the day. He took us up the Choptank River to about 10 different stops. You can bring your own rod or you can rent one from him. We ended the day with ~24 perch. Overall, a great experience!

Intrigued by the cover charge and enormous presence of roided security guards in tight t-shirts, we asked what in the world was going on. Well, it just happened to be their busiest day of the year: The Bikini Contest Finals, starting at 5:00 PM. Sadly for us (especially the guys), we would have to depart for our long boat ride back to Chestertown, meaning we were going to miss the bikini contest. They were not kidding about it being the biggest event of the year! As we were leaving the area, there were tons of motorboats lined up to enter the marina. Wow!
