I had a tummy tuck a year ago and it's terrible. I had never had any plastic surgery before and paid $19,000. I was nervous and thought going to a surgeon that was in d magazine and not a cheap surgeon would give me the results I wanted. So in the consultation I was told everything I wanted to hear. Then the day of surgery right before I went in he said he would have to make a small incision below my belly button to make sure my new belly button would look right in a bikini because mine was so high and keep the scar below my bikini line!! But that you wouldn't even notice it. Here we are a year later and it still looks terrible I have a large pooch on one side. I am more self conscious than I ever was before. It looks terrible in clothes and in a swimsuit. Yes I brought this issue up to him from day one. I was told it's swelling and will flatten out on this one side and scars will go away. Well it has gotten worse and he said I can pay $4500 (discount rate) just for him to liposuction it to fix the pooch that was created on one side. but will also have to have an additional scar revision surgery to fix the scars at an additional cost!!! Following the sudden appearance of a nickel-sized growth in my scalp on June 13th, I quickly saw my GP who sent me to a surgeon who in turn sent me to a plastic surgeon, Dr Byrne. Following his examination, he performed a biopsy which revealed it was basal cell carcinoma and thankfully not the more deadly melanoma. Surgery was scheduled for July 23rd, outpatient with general anesthesia. Skin in the scalp is very tight and it is a marvel to me how Dr Byrne was able to close a quarter- sized excision of skin (to get clear margins) with a very tidy 2" seam held together by 8 staples. Dr. Byrne has been my trusted plastic surgeon for years. When my husband nearly destroyed his hand, Dr. Byrne repaired and reconstructed it. A few years later he performed my tummy tuck. Loved it!! Flash forward a few years, I had my under eye area done. A few years more and he did a great job on my face lift! This past year I had a double mastectomy, I was only given two choices of Drs for reconstruction and Dr. Byrne wasn't one of them. After reconstruction was attempted FOUR TIMES! by the other Dr.,There was just no good tissue left to facilitate another reconstruction. Dr. Byrne is a professional and a perfectionist - two qualities I appreciate in a surgeon! I was diagnosed at 38 with breast cancer. I had several procedures before seeing Dr. Byrne, including a bi-lateral mastectomy, chemo, and radiation. I had quite a few setbacks during that time which complicated my recovery. Honestly, when it was time to begin the reconstruction process with Dr. Byrne I had low expectation of ever resembling my former self again. After losing my hair and my breasts I wasn't feeling very feminine. I am very pleased to say I am amazed at my results. (and everyone else is too!) I look and feel better than ever. My oncology staff always asks who did my reconstruction and tell me what an awesome job he did. I know, right!? I seriously have to stop myself from showing everyone my before and after pictures.
