I had ready cleared the area near the heat pump. He came in, was very polite and professional, and worked on the unit for 2 hours. He was able to fix the problem, and the work was about $450. I will call them again if I have any more issues and would recommend them to anyone!

One of the men called to let me know the approx time they'd arrive. Great! It was within the time they'd mentioned. He came to the door and stated that his partner couldn't get their truck through our laneway to reach the house and that they'd have to use their portable unit. He then left to confer with his partner then came back with his apologies - they hadn't brought the portable unit. I didn't mention the inconvenience of taking time off of work. He was lovely about it and I thought, well, that's life. We arranged for an approximate time the next day and he said they'd contact me to arrange a time. I then received an email from Alex, the owner, stating that the original quoted cost - $150 - would now be $200 because they needed to use a portable unit instead of a truck-mounted unit. I asked if they could do it for the original quoted price, since they inadequately informed me of the price. Alex refused. So we've hired a reputable company for the service, at a cheaper cost. Bottom line: as a business owner, Alex should have mentioned truck-mounted versus portable units and the differences in price at the start of the transaction. Had I been told the cost would be $200, I would have looked elsewhere for a better quote and been able to use our dryer a week earlier, instead of having it pile up in the laundry closet like a landfill site. He also should have admitted it was his company's error and performed the service at the agreed upon price. Unfortunately for all involved, he didn't.

At the same time, I had noticed some missing mortar in the brick on the outside of the house and a broken gutter - meaning water was dripping down the side of the house and likely entering the walls. I was convinced we had mold and envisioned our whole bedroom being torn apart. After searching online, I came across this company which had good reviews so gave it a ring. I was impressed from the second Angelina stepped foot in my door. You know when you see Mike Holmes walk into some poor soul's house on his show and you know he's going to fix things? That's how I felt - she was going to save the day. And that's what she did. Long story short, she did her thing using equipment which can detect the presence of mold without making a single hole. She also checked other parts of the house to ensure she had the whole picture. She wasn't convinced it was mold. Surely enough within 24 hours or so, we received the "Indoor Air Quality (Mold) Testing & Investigation Report" via email confirming her suspicion. Turns out our old house with its plaster walls saved the day. Yes water had come in, and yes that was the cause of the odor, but because it was plaster, all we needed to do was dry it out and get out mortar and gutter fixed. (If it had been dry wall, we would have been screwed.) In the following days, Angelina offered recommendations on getting rid of the odor and responded promptly to any other questions I had. She even offered to help me rent an "air scrubber" if we continued to smell the must. Thankfully it wasn't needed. The price was very decent. If I recall, it was in the $350 range when all was said and done.
