Third time is a charm, they say, and that's definitely the case with my experience at Advanced Skin…read moreCare. I had previously been to two estheticians for my sudden onset of hormonal acne. The first gave me no instructions for home care, which I now know is crazy. The next person took a holistic approach to skin care, which I really was interested in, but skin got SO much worse in the 4 months under her care- it was really unbelievable. The products that she gave me gave me a ton of comedones, which made the texture of my skin so awful. I found Advanced Skin Care online and got two personal recommendations as well, which confirmed for me that I was making the right choice. It took some time to get things under control, but in the 4 months that I've been there, I have gone from grade 4 acne to grade 2 (at my last visit). It's been one month since my last facial, and I have had zero blemishes. I used to have 5-6 blemishes show up every 1-2 days. Ydali is really great! She is the only person I've seen there. I like her no-nonsense, careful approach. My skin is very sensitive and she has given me explicit instructions for incorporating each new product so that my skin could acclimate. She hasn't ever pushed products or services on me, which I really appreciate. Whenever I have had questions in between appointments, I have been able to reach her for help. I honestly don't even want to think about what my skin would look like right now if I hadn't decided to come here...

I want to start off by saying that they are very considerate of COVID-19/illness precautions. I unfortunately had to cancel my original appointment last minute due to a sudden upper respiratory infection (confirmed not COVID, thank goodness). They were very understanding, and followed up with me on making sure there was enough time for me to be 100% healthy before coming in. Stacey was a sweetheart, and knowledgeable. I asked her about personal treatment recommendations for my skin, and she answered all of my questions without being pushy so I could decide if I wanted to add-on. I ended up staying for IPL therapy, microneedling, microcurrent and extractions in addition to my original services at a verrryy reasonable intro price. She took her time with caring for my skin, and before I knew it 2 hours had passed in which I was in and out of sleep the whole time! Stacey was also kind enough to share her contact info with me so if I had any questions on skincare or treatments, I could reach out to her directly. I appreciate the accessibility post-appointment. Thank you again Stacey!

I went in for a "deep cleansing" & walked out with nearly the same amount of congestion as before. My major bumps weren't touched at all. It's false advertising. I wish I spent my money elsewhere. She's nice so I feel bad giving 1 star but future acneic clients must be cautious & spend their $ somewhere that will actually help.

STAY FAR AWAY! I had…read morean appointment scheduled for 12/12 at 2:15 PM. On 12/11 at 10:04 AM, I received a text asking me to confirm with "Y" or cancel with "X." I was at work and wasn't able to respond immediately. By 11:18 AM the same morning, my appointment had already been rescheduled without my consent. When I reached out for clarification, Jazmine asked if I wanted to reschedule. I explained that I found it strange and concerning that my appointment could be moved without notifying me. She insisted that nobody had rescheduled it, even though I had the confirmation texts proving otherwise. I sent screenshots in case there was an internal issue with messages not showing, but she continued to repeat that "nobody moved it." Because I've had previous negative experiences with SkinLaundry, this incident with Jazmine was the final straw. Being told something didn't happen, when I had proof it did, is just dishonesty. When I ultimately canceled my membership, she added a note claiming that I was rude to the staff during scheduling. My screenshots show the opposite. At no point was I rude; instead, Jazmine was dismissive and unprofessional. When speaking verbally on the phone, she told me she had apologized in the text messages, yet there is no apology anywhere in the conversation. I then spoke with the manager on the phone who essentially brushed off my concerns and told me I was being "snarky" for simply asking whether my appointment would keep getting rescheduled. As a paying client, I think it's reasonable to want consistency and transparency. Overall, I cannot recommend SkinLaundry. Their customer service is unprofessional, and the environment is biased. Managers seem more interested in protecting their staff than addressing legitimate concerns. On top of that, the treatments themselves are not worth the cost; there are other places that use more effective lasers and deliver faster results. I'm including screenshots below to support everything stated. I apologize if it's out of order. I uploaded them in order and Yelp reorganized it.

I honestly feel bad giving a lower rating because Skin Laundry as a place is wonderful. The staff…read morewas incredibly kind and the service itself is a total 5 out of 5. I went in for the $50 first-time promotional appointment. I arrived a little early, as recommended, and there was a bit of a wait. Totally understandable since there seemed to be only one person running the machine at a time. They take before photos in case you end up doing multiple sessions. The pricing is definitely on the higher side and they do encourage memberships, which I get, but for me it all depended on whether the treatment actually worked. Here's where it wasn't so great. They did warn me I might break out a little after. I was expecting a small purge, but what happened was much worse. My skin reacted really badly. I developed increased hyperpigmentation even though I originally went in to treat it, and my skin barrier basically crashed. I didn't expect that at all. It started the very next day and took about a month for my skin to recover, and I didn't change anything in my routine. I'm not new to skincare or treatments. I regularly get things done in South Korea like Thermage FLX, Pico laser, Fraxel, and IPL, plus injections like Rejuran Healer. I know how my skin usually behaves with lasers and energy-based devices, and this reaction felt completely out of left field. If the treatment had simply had no effect, that would've been fine since a lot of these things take time. But the effect was genuinely negative for my skin, and I still don't know why. I don't think I'll be back. That said, if your skin type responds well to their treatments, the service and staff are amazing. Just be cautious and really listen to your skin.

I spent months looking into into IPL and seeing how it would react with other skin products that I use. I decided to make an appointment for IPL, however, I then found out I had an interview 3 days after my appointment so I emailed the place to see what their thoughts were. I got an email stating that it wouldn't be a good idea because my face would be darker before falling off, which I already knew so I agreed as well. I decided to just come for a consultation and a facial. When I got there, Maxine was very confused as to why I was there. I explained it to her, and she said that I could still do IPL. I was nervous. I showed her every single product I was using on my face and all it's ingredients. I told her that I was nervous about IPL because of my interview and she insisted that my face would actually look better rather than worse because she did not feel that I had much hyperpigmentation. She also went ahead and said " I met people like you before" making fun of the fact that I actually do my research and get nervous about procedures on my face. I don't know about you but this is a normal way to react to your own face! My face was burnt-- first degree burn. I sent pictures to Maxine the next day and she said " I didn't anticipate for your face to be sensitive". She then wanted to give me a " calming facial" but told me to come that day. I couldn't come. She was also closed Sunday and Monday I believe because the nExt day she offered to as Tuesday. I don't live in Philadelphia, and I had to go back to work- and last time I checked, facials don't cure first degree burns. She then sent me some hydroquinone for my face to my house to use-- 2%. This is something you can just get over the counter. This Wasn't anything special. She doesn't offer any money back, no refund, no nothing. I basically paid almost 200 dollars to add dark spots to my face and burn my face. I don't recommend this place to anyone. It's just throwing your money away.
