To be fair, I was offered a refund on my services (which I took). I'm very disappointed that I have to write this review, I had very high hopes for this place after reading the other reviews on Yelp. I had an isolaze treatment with extractions. I can't really comment on the performance of the Isolaze treatment, but I can comment on the nature of the extractions. I came from an award winning dermatologist in Arizona who performed extractions on me. Never have I had such an adverse reaction to extractions. In Arizona, I would go once a month for a detox facial with extractions. Never did I have raised bumps and skin discoloration afterwards. When the technician, Briana, started performing the extractions, I told her she was doing it too hard. She insisted that she was doing it the right way. By the time I drove back to Hershey. My face was riddled with raised red bumps caused from the pressure and nature of the extraction. My face is reminiscent of when I would pick at it in high school. Evidently my high school self could land a job at About Face. After two weeks, I still had visible scarring on my face. I know this place has great reviews, that's why I chose it. But after taking a closer look at the content of the reviews, most are regarding fillers. When I emailed them, I received an indignant response and an offer of a refund (probably in the hopes I would never write this review). I had an amazing experience at About Face! I was greeted by staff immediately and all of the ladies were very pleasant and friendly. I was coming in thinking I wanted Thermage and after speaking to Dr. Naomi, she helped me to realize I'd be a better candidate for Sculpsure. I have a bit of loose skin on my abdominal area from pregnancy. I really like that Naomi didn't make me feel as if she didn't SEE my issue. Although it's a small area, it's an area that's bothersome to me! She addressed all of my concerns and made me feel extremely comfortable. She takes the time to listen and she won't just sell you something if it's not the best for your specific situation. She is honest which I like! She tells you if something hurts, if it doesn't hurt, - you're not going into anything misinformed. It was my first time at About Face but it surely won't be my last. Wow what can I say except Raelle saved my skin. I was in the midst of a major acne purge last year. My face had so much inflammation, pain, and hyperpigmentation that it negatively influenced my day to day. I hated looking in the mirror and my face was always in pain. When I went for a consultation I had initially only hoped to get a chemical peel but after talking to Raelle she suggested a series of clear and brilliant and Isolaz treatments. I admit at first I was skeptical. The entire package felt very pricey but after talking with Raelle again and deciding to really treat myself I went for it and I don't regret it one bit. Let me start by saying that this review is long overdue! I've been seeing Briana for my breakouts, melasma, etc. for years now and I will never go anywhere else. She is a true gem! She hears me and does her absolute best to give me what I want (I'm obsessed with my skin AND a huge pain in the butt, so trust me, this is no easy feat), but also won't perform treatments on me or let me buy products that I don't need (even if I beg her to :)) just for the sake of doing so. Update: 8/20/18 Naomi reached out to me after my missed appointment and made it a point to make things right. I was glad she did because once she was able to explain the mishaps which caused the delays. Scheduled an appointment for a touch up clear and brilliant and was scheduled for 3:45pm appointment. When I got there, they immediately put the numbing cream on and since it had to sit for 30 minutes. 1 hour and 15 minutes later I'm still sitting there without any updates as to what's going on. So I walk out and the receptionist gives me an attitude while she tells me the machine is being used by a different client. I understand if circumstances come up but i found it pretty unprofessional no one came to tell me about any delays. Hope this is not the best Philly has to offer. My review is in response the ~40 minute $110 "facial treatment". I moved to PA from Los Angeles for graduate school. You could say I am an experienced recipient of facials and skin treatments. As a result, I know the difference between a good and bad treatment. Unfortunately, this experience was that of the latter. I should have walked away after the first cold wet rag was placed on my face. But due to my naivety, I thought it would get better, but it only got worse. Before making my appointment, I should have placed more emphasis on the one star review, as it was fairly accurate as to how my experience was. Instead I focused on all the positive reviews because, I am an optimist. Based on my experience I am led to believe that the reviews on this yelp account must be fake or solicited responses. I have a hard time believing that this aesthetician's standard of service is an outlier at this facility. I would not doubt that the other service providers are of a similar lack luster caliber. I have actually been dreading writing this review because it was such a awful experience and I would rather forget it happened. I have never left feeling taken advantage of like I felt when I paid and walked out that door. I even spoke to the aesthetician afterwards because I thought she could use some constructive feedback on how to improve. She seemed moderately receptive but had lots of excuses. I mean she doesn't believe in their benefits nor receives them? Then how does she have anything to compare her treatment to? I have reached out to management and the lack of responsiveness on their part demonstrates their lack of caring for customer satisfaction. I am leaving this review to save others from making the same mistake I made. Hope it helps you. The following is what I liked about the service:  - Personable and friendly - The facial, neck and shoulder massage was good  - Asked for feedback while she performed the massage The following is what I disliked about the service:  - 40 minutes in length = not that I wanted it to last any longer! Should have walked away immediately. - No warm mister/steamer was used (Follow up: I spoke to the owner and apparently this is because I was able to be diagnosed with rosacea with a full face of foundation makeup on. I guess this aesthetician is better than my dermatologist!) - Cold wet towels were used to remove product - Pressed on my eyeballs which was uncomfortable and did not cleanse my cheeks just pressed on my temples. - Did not cleanse below jaw, neck or décolleté region. - No toner was used. The technician believes it's a gimmick product. Sold at the facility for customers to buy. - A truly gimmicky suction machine (no isolate laser component utilized ) was used on approx. 10 random spots on my face. The goal was the "bring up" impurities of the skin so that she can 'easily' extract the bacteria from my skin = didn't work & laughable, see the picture attached to understand how hard she had to have pressed on my skin. - 5-7 mins to cleanse my face and exfoliate - Exfoliate did not glide on my skin but felt stuck on to specific places on my face. Did not add sufficient amount of water. Extractions: - My head position was never moved in order to view my skin from different angles and vantage points. - Preformed on cold, dry, taut skin using a metal lancet = unnecessarily painful! - My skin was still impacted and congested by the time I left - Face was covered in red welts Lastly, - The technician did not believe in facials herself. Commented multiple times throughout the session that the only part of the service that is useful are the extractions - no other part. Ummm okay. - Applied eye cream roughly under the delicate eye area, rubbed it in with force. = Exactly what shouldn't be done, right?! - Slathered the lotion product into sections of my face then rubbed it in in circles in the region of my face only. This felt sloppy. I asked about why it was preformed like this, and was told that it was "not to waste product" = Red Flag?! - I was not aware of the products used for the facial as only the store brand products were on display. But in the customer waiting area I assumed top shelf brands would be utilized such as SkinMedica etc. read more
