I dont live far from OC so I dont hit the busy tourist spots fir breakfast. I went this week and rode bikes there with my cousins. We got in quickly. Cool little place. What isn't there to say about Browns? This is potentially the number one thing to do when visiting Ocean City. They are a true staple in the community and fully embrace both the local and tourist vibe. While they are known for their fresh baked donuts, they also have a pretty decent breakfast as well. If you can stay for both, I'd recommend it. Get there EARLY, and get there often. Most times, you'll see the line piled up down the boardwalk in both directions. They do a decent job of turning tables, so if you aren't in a rush, I'd say it's worth the wait. Enjoy the boardwalk and people watching that comes with it, and have a great breakfast! read more

Like everyone else has said, the donuts are unbeatable. Great flavors, and they make the donuts right in front of you so you know how fresh they really are. My only complaint is that they only take cash, and I didn't see this advertised anywhere outside, and we weren't told until after we had placed the order, the donuts were made, and we tried to pay with card. So we had to go back to our place, get cash, and come back to get the donuts. I guess on the island everyone knows this about Brown's, but people visiting OCNJ just for the day or week would have no idea, so it'd be great to have a sign letting people know. read more

Breakfast is pretty average, but BYOC (coffee), their coffee is so weak it's hard to tell whether it's their coffee or the tap water, however you go for the hot donuts that are hard to beat. My dad owned a restaurant for over 20+ years and always had a line at the counter for coffee to go which brought in a lot of business. I had lunch here recently while visiting a friend who lives nearby. We had five people in our group - three vegetarians and two meat eaters. 5 Star Donuts, 1 star for the restaurant, but the donuts are so good I'll round up to a 4. Let's be honest, you're here for the donuts, which are incredible. My biggest gripe with the restaurant is that they apparently just keep refilling the same ketchup bottles on the counters and tables season after season. Look under the lid of one of those ketchup bottles, and you may never want to eat ketchup again. I mentioned it to a server last year, and one year later still the same black moldy crust on the underside of the lid. Also, on my last visit at lunchtime I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. It was inexplicably served on the smallest plate in existence with no lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, etc., and the ketchup problem noted above. Not even close to worth $10 including tip. To make matters worse, it was a 90+ degree humid day with only one or two other patrons in the restaurant. After my burger, I wanted to order a water ice, while seated at the counter directly next to where they serve water ice and was told I have to go order the water ice from the window. There was no one in line at the window and the restaurant was empty. At that point I skipped the water ice and realized it's only honey and cinnamon donuts for me going forward. read more

Found ourselves at Brown's early this (Sunday) morning around 9am. Rode our bikes over, parked them on the boardwalk and headed to the back of a 20+ person line. There were social distancing circles in place on the ground. (For the first 6 or 7 groups. Then you were on your own.) made it to the window after a reasonable wait. There were the following available flavors of fresh fried cake donuts: chocolate, vanilla, honey, powdered sugar, sugar and cinnamon and lastly plain. We ordered 12 donuts including 9 chocolate and 3 vanilla, then see ordered two coffees and two chocolate milks for the kiddos. I think they were $21. I rounded it up to $25 with top. Within just a moment, out popped a hinged styrofoam container full of hot deliciousness and the drinks. Made our way around the building and through a gravel lot to an area with some picnic tables and umbrellas to polish those babies off. Excellent, fresh, hot, delicious... don't know l, I'm out of adjectives. The coffee is just meh. If it's possible, I come here every time. read more
