I would give 5 stars if we're just talking donuts here, because they're the best. This review is for inside dining. The poor menus are in serious need of lamination. They were just paper menus falling apart. Besides that though, our server was fabulous, the service was quick, and I was pleasantly surprised by the hotcakes. The scrambled egg was just okay. The best part of eating inside of course is the donuts. Fresh, hot, and the best part of Ocean City. I'm partial to chocolate and honey, but you can't go wrong with any variety. I don't mind waiting outside for these gems but once in a while it pays to relax and get them brought to you. They are a true staple in the community and fully embrace both the local and tourist vibe. While they are known for their fresh baked donuts, they also have a pretty decent breakfast as well. If you can stay for both, I'd recommend it. Get there EARLY, and get there often. Most times, you'll see the line piled up down the boardwalk in both directions. My only complaint is that they only take cash, and I didn't see this advertised anywhere outside, and we weren't told until after we had placed the order, the donuts were made, and we tried to pay with card. So we had to go back to our place, get cash, and come back to get the donuts. I guess on the island everyone knows this about Brown's, but people visiting OCNJ just for the day or week would have no idea, so it'd be great to have a sign letting people know. read more

Couldn't wait to take a picture before digging in! These are the best donuts in Ocean City. You have to wait in a little line but it took us about 10 minutes and everything was quick and easy. They stop serving donuts at 11:30am, so make sure you don't miss them! The donuts are petite, light and fluffy and full of flavor. Breakfast is pretty average, but BYOC (coffee), their coffee is so weak it's hard to tell whether it's their coffee or the tap water, however you go for the hot donuts that are hard to beat. My dad owned a restaurant for over 20+ years and always had a line at the counter for coffee to go which brought in a lot of business. Been going to Browns since the 80's when we bought a home just two blocks away. Has been a favorite of ours and now our grown children. Simply the best doughnuts and breakfast spot in town.
