I have been going to Browns in Kingston fro a number of years now, I just love the view of the river sitting at the table, is all I can say and that is the only reason we go there. The food seems to be shrinking on the plates every time we go. This last Saturday August, 2013 we asked for a fish pie, well the portion was so small and just a couple of beans decorating the plate. We did complained to the waiter, all she could say is lots of customers are complaining about the small portions. On another occasion it was fish and chips, well there were only two cubes of fish of about 2 by 2 inches. They are pathetic, they need to revamp their portion sizes and their attitude. You should welcome customers and make them feel welcome, no like beggars and wanting them to leave as soon as they finish their meals I limited my visits just for coffee and biscuits in the afternoons now. Even that was a disaster, the coffee is cold, I have to specifically tell them to BOIL the milk not jut pour it out of the fridge or room temperature, the way coffee is made in countries where coffee is like tea in England. They brought me the coffee, coldish of course and then half an hour later the dish with the biscuits came. By that time I drank all my coffee and AGAIN I explained that the idea was to drink coffee tasting the biscuits or whatever sweet at the same time, not after. THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE. I am a food gourmet myself, I do cook not just read about it. The problem is not just Browns general management of the place and attitude but also as someone has said, the attitude of the British public in general, serve them shit on a plate, they thank you and they leave a tip on the topNo one wants to make a complaint or say something, we need to educate the public to take action when things are not right, we can say and complaint about anything with respect and good manners. My last visit to Browns was another unmemorable occasion I will be reviewing were to go or as we are doing most of the time now here, eat before we go out and just have a drink or a coffee in places like Browns, as nothing worst like paying for food and feeling hungry at the end. Another pathetic thing is this robotic attitude of Browns waiters, that you experience in other restaurants too, they come to ask you if everything is OK, but when you say that is not, they hardly say anything or sorry but they do not make any concessions to mend or make you feel welcome. Like with the fish pie, they could have say we can bring you some vegetables to add to that but is all about cost and high profits. To summarize if you go to Browns in Kingston contemplate the beautiful scenery but forget about food or service you better off at some country pub. I hope someone somewhere gets cracking with the food industry here, a general rip off if anything read more
