Restful Paws - My precious little girl, Chloe

I had to send my Sebastian to Doggie Heaven two weeks ago (10.05.26) . He was diagnosed with…read morediabetes a little over 3 years ago. He went blind about a month after the diagnosis. At the end, it wasnt diabetes that ended Sebastian's reign as World's Favorite Dog. It was cancer. Dr Karen Vine was a blessing to work with. She sent me a text to let me know she was on her way. She was patient with my family as we surrounded Sebastian with love and said our goodbyes. She gave us extra time and did not even attempt to rush the experience. She knew that our family has gone through the euthanasia process before (with our other family dogs), but still was very thorough in explaining the process to my family, explained what each shot was and how it'll affect Sebastian. Dr. Karen had some Churu cat treats in her medical bag, which apparently dogs seem to love. My Sebastian apparently loved them. She offered me a 2nd one after Sebastian devoured the first one. It kept his focus on the snacks as she administered the first shot. She would then explain in detail what the 2nd shot was, and how Sebastian should be affected by it. She would also confirm if I was ready for the 2nd injection before administering it. Finally, she explained that the 3rd injection would be the last & final one, which would finally put Sebastian to his forever rest & send him off to Doggie Heaven. She backed away from us and gave us the time we needed to say our final goodbyes. Again, no rushing us at all. She waited until she saw that each family member had their turn to say their goodbyes to Sebastian. With that said, she asked me if I was ready for the final shot. I wasnt, but Sebastian was... so I said yes to take away his pain, and make it my own. I want to thank Restful Paws & Dr Karen Vine for helping send Sebastian over the Rainbow Bridge. You guys turned this Pawrent's worst day into a compassionate and loving send-off for my Sebastian. Thank you guys for everything. And, thank you Dr. Vine for the Thank you card!

This is the review I have been holding off for a while…read more Today marks 6 months since we used this service. This has been the most difficult and saddest decision we've had to make. When I contacted Restful Paws, I didn't know what to expect. In fact, I felt bad crying on the phone because I couldn't imagine trying to talk to someone like me at that moment. But the staff couldn't be more understanding and supportive. Unlike making end of life decisions for your fur baby, the process of scheduling this appointment was very easy. Restful Paws asked all the right questions, set the expectations, and made this process that much easier. And on the day of, Dr. Ami arrived promptly at the scheduled time. She was very caring and understanding, and she put all of us at ease. We could not have asked for a better last day for our Sodapop. I'm thankful that we reached out to restful pause, and grateful that they were able to come to our house to help us get through this phase. Weeks later, we received a card from Dr. Ami sending us her condolences. Thank you, Restful Paws, for doing the service that you do. I'm sure it's not easy, and I can only imagine how sad it is to do this on a daily basis. Thank you so much!

I don't even know if I can fully put into words how grateful we are for Dr. Alice Bugman and the…read moreentire team at SAGE Redwood City. Our dog Bailey is a 6 year old chocolate Lab who developed a deep fluid filled mass in her neck. Our primary vet initially attempted to remove it, but once he got in there, he felt it was too close to extremely important structures such as her jugular, carotid artery, nerves, etc and chose not to continue. Hearing that was terrifying and it eventually led us to Dr. Bugman. From our very first appointment, Dr. Bugman made us feel like Bailey was genuinely in good hands. I was incredibly nervous and had a million questions. She was patient, kind, honest and empathetic through all of it. Communication was always easy, and I never felt rushed or made to feel like I was asking too much. She also understood the financial reality of specialty care and was willing to talk through different options with us without ever making me feel like we were compromising Bailey's care. On surgery day, I was an emotional wreck, but Bailey did beautifully and Dr. Bugman was able to successfully remove the mass. After weeks of fear and uncertainty, hearing that my girl was awake, out of surgery, and the icky mass was out was the biggest relief imaginable. What I will remember just as much as Dr. Bugman's surgical skill is how cared for we felt throughout this entire experience. When your dog is your family, handing them over for a major surgery is incredibly hard. I never once questioned whether Bailey was being watched over, loved on and treated like she mattered. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Bugman and everyone who cared for our girl. There really aren't enough words to say thank you for getting Bailey safely through this and back to us. If you are scared and searching through reviews trying to decide who you can trust with your baby, I hope this review gives you some of the reassurance I desperately needed when we were in that position.

I'm extremely disappointed with our experience at this emergency veterinary clinic…read more We brought our dog in during the morning because he was hunched over, walking sideways, refusing to eat, and extremely lethargic. We were understandably very concerned about his condition. Our dog was evaluated by the triage team and appeared stable at the time. We were told we could either wait in the ER for approximately 3-4 hours or return at 5:15 PM for an urgent care appointment. We were given these options and chose to return at the specified time. We returned at 5:15 PM as instructed, only to be told that we did not have an appointment and that they would not be able to see our dog. We were absolutely appalled. We followed the instructions given to us by the clinic, spent the entire day worrying about our dog, rearranged our plans, and even missed a game, only to be turned away when we came back at the exact time we had been told to return. This was not a situation where we simply showed up without notice. We had already brought our dog in, explained his concerning symptoms, and relied on the options provided by the staff. If returning at 5:15 PM was not a confirmed appointment, that should have been clearly communicated to us before we left. Emergency veterinary visits are stressful enough without being given conflicting information and sent away without the care we were seeking. We understand that emergency clinics get busy and must prioritize patients based on medical urgency, but the lack of communication and follow-through was unacceptable. We left feeling frustrated, dismissed, and still worried about our dog. Management needs to address how patients are scheduled and how information is communicated between the ER and urgent care teams. No pet owner should have to spend an entire day following a clinic's instructions only to find out those instructions did not lead to the care they were promised. Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to return or recommend this clinic to other pet owners.

It's easy to schedule appointments online or by phone and their hours are long enough to be useful for someone who works normal hours. Dr. Stanton and everyone at the clinic is extremely patient and compassionate to both patients and owners. Dr. Stanton takes the time to fully listen to my concerns and questions, and is not dismissive like some vets. They come up with a proposed care plan with transparent pricing and everything line-by-line is gone through with you and you are free to decide what treatment you do or do not want. I can ask many follow up questions and make adjustments while getting Dr. Stanton and the techs' professional guidance. I appreciate the totally honest advice and feedback Dr. Stanton provides. From the very few negative reviews I have read, I think some people might not appreciate his candor, but I personally find it very refreshing and effective for getting the best possible treatment. I have never felt pressured or guilted into certain treatments, and the staff listens and follows the care plan I decided upon with them. Their prices are extremely fair for the Bay Area and every visit has been cheaper than I've expected. I've mostly focused on Dr. Stanton above, but every single person here from the front desk staff to every vet tech I've seen has been fantastic and really goes out of their way to make the experience as positive as possible. It is clear when I visit that Dr. Stanton is an excellent and experienced vet, but also knows how to effectively run the clinic. They are communicative by phone and email, and genuinely care about you and your pet. Thank you Dr. Stanton and all at PVS San Carlos!

Their x‑ray machine happened to be down, and they suggested urgent care because they suspected a heart issue. Instead, I decided to take a chance and bring Gunner to Indy's Place -- and I'm so thankful I did. Maddy at the front desk was professional, kind, and able to get us in quickly. From the moment we walked in, the compassion and professionalism of the entire staff were obvious. Dr. Z examined Gunner, ran the necessary tests, and completed the x‑ray. He listened carefully to my concerns and talked through what would be best for Gunner. What truly stood out was that Dr. Z personally called me around 8:30 that same evening to check on Gunner. In all my years at my previous vet, I never once received a follow‑up call like that. It showed how deeply he cares for his patients. Fast forward two weeks -- after starting the medication Dr. Z prescribed, Gunner is feeling like himself again. He still has heart issues, but at 12 years old, we're grateful to see him comfortable, happy, and back to his sweet self. If you're searching for a new vet, RUN, don't walk, to Indy's Place Pet Hospital in Foster City. They're located in the back area of the Marlin Cove Shopping Center -- you'll need to turn in where deliveries are made -- and the hospital is clearly marked with plenty of parking. We are forever grateful to Dr. Z for helping Gunner when he was in a serious state. Indy's Place will be our veterinary home from now on.
