I LOVE Michael! I really wanted the best start for our Australian Labradoodle puppy and after seeing his reviews and that he was a hybrid service veterinarian (mobile or visit him) I was sold. It was the best choice I could have ever made. Our pup was 10 weeks old at the time of the first appointment and had not been fully socialized to the outside world. Michael was very thorough in giving us information of what to expect in future health visits as well as information and suggestion on healthier options on what to feed/treat her. He also gave great insight on the different phases of her growth and how to deal with certain behaviors that might arise. It also helps that Michael has a great attitude and personality. I highly recommend 4 Paws Mobile Veterinarian! Your fur babies will appreciate it! read more

Dr Stern is my favorite vet after years of many Border Collies and other very expansive vets in the area and on travels. He is open and extremely accommodating and helpful . His approach to veterinary care is unique and a fantastic change from the corporate vet world out there now. My pup and I trust him implicitly and I can ask him anything and get good info. Like someone said, Dr. Sterns can never retire! read more

Dr. Sterns is the BEST! High-quality care for our sweet dog and he now is the vet of choice for our entire neighborhood.

Wow! Previous voicemail was not returned, and when I called today I never even made it made to an appointment or very far in the conversation due to his rudeness over the phone. He hung up on me the first time, then when I called back thinking it must have been an error... he proceeded to question me in a rude manner about my phone number and location. Definitely won't be booking with this person. Update: oh my, I guess you're so rude to people so often you don't even recall the phone conversation. It's ok I'm sure you won't make that mistake going forward when you don't recognize an area code. If you'd not been so rude about it I'm sure I would have made the appointment, and hopefully would have had a good experience. Lesson learned hopefully. The last thing I said that I live in Palo Alto. Unfortunately the tone had already been set, and I felt sadness in my heart, so was too late by that point. read more

My only regret with Dr. Sterns was not having found him sooner! I'd been to 3 different vets before finding Dr. S. The vets I had gone to before meeting Dr. S would always try to up charge us, the visit was rushed, and there was no time or effort to learn about Rocky and his needs. My gosh the time and care that he takes with my pup Rocky is unbelievable! He's so great and patient with Rocky and I. He always takes time to answer all of my nervous dog mom questions and has even answered emails for us when Rocky's been sick. I will also add that my Rocky is a chi mix and he struggles with reactivity but he LOVES Dr. S! He makes house calls which is super convenient for us since Rocky is reactive - its best to avoid other dogs. Last year Dr. S did have to perform a minor procedure on Rocky and he was able to do this in his office. I was a nervous wreck since Rocky was going to be under anesthesia but Dr. S was very empathetic to that and made sure to text me with updates and even text me a picture of Rocky waking up. Thank you for everything Dr. S! read more

Michael is a smart, observant and kind vet who is available to come to your house (so long as you don't live across a bridge from the Peninsula!). My beloved Beagle-Boxer mix, Lucius, has been Dr. Sterns' patient for many years. I am so grateful for his care, kindness and expertise. His visits are an absolute pleasure. He has advised me so well with all my concerns. At our first visit he alerted me to Lucius being overweight which I, a new doting mom, didn't fully realize and needed to quickly change. He has been the best ever since. Lucius and I consider ourselves fortunate. read more

There's so many good things to say about 4 Paws Mobile Veterinary Service, I don't know where to start. (This review covers our family's experiences during the pre-COVID-19 time.) Dr. Michael Sterns of 4Paws is the best vet we've had in a decade. He's a visiting vet who took great care of our chihuahua and two of our cats for several years until we moved out of his service area. Our little dog doesn't enjoy vaccinations but Dr. Sterns made her as comfortable as possible, and not everyone we've seen takes the time to do that. He also took the time to describe why X variant of medication was more effective than Y variant, and why it was better to do this routine care rather than a different routine care. I feel like Dr. Sterns truly cares about his animal patients and their families. I found his hours of service to be convenient, and in a multiple animal/species household, visiting veterinary service is a godsend. You can purchase animal medicines from him directly, or for a nominal fee, he will write a prescription to an online pharmacy of your choice. Everyday vet visits were super, but I particularly appreciate the way Dr. Sterns was there for us during a veterinary emergency. Housecall veterinary care isn't appropriate for every issue, and yet, when we had a sudden yet evolving situation during which we contacted Dr. S for advice, he supported us over the phone. We wondered if our cat was experiencing an adverse reaction to a vaccine, but Dr. S - without making us feel foolish for suggesting our hypothesis - accurately diagnosed what was actually happening, over the phone, which was confirmed when we arrived at the veterinary ER. Thankfully, our cat recovered, and Dr. Sterns was kind enough to participate in helping us get our kitty appropriate care. Thank you, Dr. Sterns! read more

Dr. Sterns is amazing and flexible and funny and helpful. I feel so grateful that he comes to my house and he adores my dog. Couldn't recommend him more highly. He's so quick to respond to me and even came by my house with no extra fee to drop off more flea/tick treatment. Best. Vet. Ever. Thank you for taking such great care of us!!! read more

Dr. Stearns is a savior! WE rescued a little black dachshund on a highway 2 years back and didn't realize his teeth were so bad until after about a year, he was unkissable..BAD horrid breath... Another year went by and it just became unbearable, I noticed almost a whole shell of plaque on more than two of his teeth, so we saved our money and went and saw Dr Stearns & Charlie's like a whole new dog! His teeth are shiny and white, Bad Breath GONE !! It's like a miracle! Talk about a nice guy !! We generally choose who we do business with based on their personality, I mean who wants to work with a jerk? My husband took Charlie in to see Dr Stearns and said he was a super nice guy! This doctor explained everything to my husband and took good care of Charlie. He found a nasty, rotten tooth too(eww) and pulled that sucker out!! The total cost was way less than we expected...phew! So happy, we decided that we will take all of our 3 dogs to Dr. Stearns from now on... read more

Michael is awesome! He's positive, flexible, he doesn't oversell, and gives great cat advice.

I was at first impressed by Dr. Stern's personality and good reviews. Our dog has been on Simprica trio and she responded well to the drug. When we switched to Dr. Stern he insisted on changing to two new medications (heartguard and another drug i forgot the name ) for the same indications as Simprica Trio. Apparently, he has the supply of these two drugs from his mobile vet car at our first house visit. Our dog threw up right after taking the one of the new medications. We dared not to give her the second one right away. Dr. Stern did let us return the medication and give us a credit for three boxes returned. When our dog tried the second medication a few weeks later, she threw up again! I asked Dr. Stern to switch back to Simprica Trio to avoid more unnecessary torture to our poor fur baby. Guess what, he asked us to GO AWAY! He feels that we questioned his decisions and we are completely unscientific. He doesn't want us to be his customers any more, just because we asked him to switch to a drug that our dog won't suffer. I am not a vet but I have a masters degree in bioscience and a biochemical engineering undergrad. The very basic science is that not all animals / human respond to the same drug the same way. I suspect his reaction was based on the fact that he could no longer sell us the drugs in his inventory and enjoy the profits, as we have to order Simpreica Trio on Chewy.com. Life is too short to deal with unreasonable, unethical and illogical charlatans, who on the surface appears to be nice and cares about your pets. I am writing here to save you time and money to deal with these people and most importantly I refuse to let my pet suffer from people's unethical behaviors. read more

Dr. Sterns is the best vet I have ever had! We started seeing him 1.5 years ago when we first got our corgi, Coco. We have seen him for her eye problems, annual vaccinations, even our cat has been taken care of by Dr. Sterns! This morning we found blood in Coco's stool while we walked her and he was super responsive and attentive. We are about to add another addition to the family so we will be with Dr Sterns for a long, long time. read more

The best mobile vet anyone could ask for. Patient, kind, knowledgeable, efficient and clearly loves animals. What more could you ask for? He can take care of non-mobile procedures in his clinic one day a week, if you need a dental cleaning or surgery. He did an at home euthanasia for us and was compassionate and caring. read more

Dr. Michael Sterns is personable, responsive and easy to schedule with. He neutered our dog at his clinic so I can't comment on the mobile service aspect of his business. But our dog was very at ease with him going in and was happy enough to return two weeks later for the stitch removal. Our dog is healing well and didn't seem at all traumatized by the experience. As a terrier, he is typically is a bit of nervous temperament but seemed very happy to go right into Michael's care. And Dr Sterns services are very budget friendly with no hidden costs. tacked on later. read more

Really disappointed by this vet's reply. I called and left a voicemail as a new client. I wanted to find out if he covers my area, which he most likely does. Instead of calling me back, this so called doctors texted me that he doesn't take "cat clients only!" What is this supposed to mean? Why did you not mention that on your website? So rude and bad business. The funny thing is, I just complained to whole bunch of dog people and one of them has 4 dogs! In all honesty, I believe that this vet didn't like my accent and came up with a stupidest reason to deny service. I guess that immigrants are not serviced. read more

Dr. Sterns really helped me out, as I have a fractious cat, and taking her to the vet is always an ordeal. He was even able to examine her and vaccinate her without sedation. His service is invaluable to pet owners like me, and I am grateful that it's available! read more

I am at peace with my dogs passing knowing that he was able to go at home giving him love til his time to be at peace. Dr Sterns made it that much more acceptable with his kind words and patience to allow us to mourn. We stayed with him till the sedition kicked in, then left to go in the house. We required the veterinary care for our aging and very sick golden retriever almost eight months ago. At that time, I was super stressed since I couldn't transport my beloved dog to her regular veterinarian. That's when by chance, we were able to find 4Paws Mobile Veterinary Services via Yelp. We were able to schedule an appointment for our very sick dog right away. We met Dr. Sterns and we were able to prolong our dog's life a bit longer under Dr. Sterns guidance. Although we met Dr. Sterns under a dire circumstances, we were happy to be able to spend the last precious moments with our beloved golden. Since this experience, we've decided to continue our veterinary relationship with Dr. Sterns. Now with our new goldendoodle puppy, we know that our little puppy is in great care of Dr. Sterns. Now, Dr. Sterns is almost like our extended family. Thank you! read more

We have been with Dr Sterns now for over 3 years. It's always a pleasure seeing him whenever he comes to visit our dog Zoey. She was anxious and snappy at other vet offices and they used to want to sedate her in order to give her care. With Dr Sterns visiting at our home, she welcomes him like a friend coming over for a visit. He is always responsive whenever we have a question regarding our dog even in the middle of the night. He is easy to chat with and always very friendly and professional. I have recommended him to other friends with fur babies as well. There's no one else we would trust with our fur baby's care than Dr Sterns. read more

I would definitely recommend 4 Paws Mobile Vet Service to anyone. Michael has been a vet for our family's dogs for well over 10+ years. He is super friendly, personable, and funny. He builds very good rapport with dogs that come in so that they feel comfortable immediately. I can tell that he cares for these dogs a lot as well as the well-being of their owners. In addition, he knows A LOT about French bulldogs which is of particular interest. Even when I switched vets because I had to move, he is still willing to answer any and all questions. He is accessible, has quick response time, and has the ability to take you in last minute if needed. There is never a wait time. read more
