What a quaint wee tea room!
Situated in the centre of the New Town area of Edinburgh, Brown Sugar is just a few streets from the main shopping area, Princes Street, and so it is a convenient place to reach - and it is definitely worth a visit.
Brown Sugar is a wee corner cafe overlooking Queen Street, and it would be quite easy to walk straight past this place and not notice it as it is pretty inconspicuous from the outside. I have been here several times for a coffee and a cake and each time I go I wonder why I'm not here more often.
The interior of the Cafe is really new and modern, with great chilled out music playing in the background. You always get a wonderful waft of fresh coffee as soon as you enter you shop, and there is something about that smell which completely compels me to buy coffee! There is a counter at the back of the store which sells the most amazing looking home made cakes, such as cheese cake and carrot cake, but my absolute favourite is their chocolate brownie which is in credibly moist and fluffy with huge chunks of chocolate - yummy!
Brown Sugar unfortunately comes with the standard New Town prices, so the cakes and drinks are a wee bit more expensive than other cafes in Edinburgh, but the delicious food makes it worth it. If you want to buck the trend and avoid going to the Starbuck's or Costa on every street corner, Brown Sugar is a fantastic alternative. read more
