"Gooey" is absolutely used in a complimentary way here. Where other big-name bakeries might make "gooey" cookies that just seem underdone, the softness of the cookies here is very intentional, well done, and lives up to the bakery name. Their thick cookies are fun and reminiscent of Levain Bakery, but their Bazookies are where they really shine (their version of BJ Pizookies). They can turn any of their cookie flavors into a Bazookie, and the consistency and flavor are second to none. As a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur, I think Half Baked Goodness makes the best cookies in Houston. Tiny's is strong competition, but their cookies are completely different. Anyone with a sweet tooth will definitely find something to love here. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 5+++/5 - Service: 5/5

Forget about Crumbl, where the excessive mounds of icing try to mask dry & unremarkable cookies…read more Instead, you need to run (not walk) to this little cookie spot that knows how to do cookies right!!! Half Baked Goodness is indeed so good!!! The namesake "half baked" style equates to a THICCC, gooey cookie base that resembles a brookie (fudgy brownie + chewy cookie lovechild). Each GIGANTIC cookie (I'm telling ya, they weigh a brick and the size of my hand) is loaded with chips/toffee/special ingredients or schmeared with just the right amount of topping. I am obsessed with the Creme Brûlée, but I've tried some insanely good flavors from their rotating seasonal menu/weekly flavor features! While I have my top faves, I honestly think ALL the cookies are done well and worth trying! Do yourself a favor and grab a variety box. Bet you'll have a tough time picking a favorite, too. I keep making my way back here for a sweet tooth pit stop.... Also worth mentioning is the staff here are always very friendly, and the owners take a lot of pride in this location. They exude wholesome energy & lots of love. Hands down, THE BEST cookie shop around!

The macaroons are the closest I have had since Laduree in NYC. Delicious,…read moreHowever the experience was brutal. We walked on a Sunday afternoon and were given the dreaded Gen Z stare. Given, not even greeted, given the Gen Z stare by the store employee who treated us like WE were inconveniencing her? Asking to try a gelato sample was like pulling teeth and when she finally did give us a sample, when she finally did it was the size of a rice grain? Ridiculously small. The gelato was horrible. They were all freezer burnt! Their drinks? horrendous! And the whole time their store employee would walk away mid order. Huff under her breath. Roll her eyes. It was unbelievable to see. I felt like I was in the twilight zone, for real real. Anyways we ordered macaroons to go because those are incredible. I would never ever suggest this place to anyone. It's snobby and overpriced. If anything, just do a macaroon pick up order and leave immediately. I was so embarrassed I even suggested this place to friends and family. Ironically, they had the same store employee. What are the odds.

Do yourself a favor and try the Crème Brûlée cookie... it's next-level. The texture, the sweetness, that caramelized flavor--absolute perfection. 1 out of 5 -- Disappointing Experience Despite Keto Excitement…read more As someone on keto, I was genuinely excited to try Half Baked's keto cookie options -- it's hard enough finding good keto-friendly sweets, and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly from the moment I walked in. When I entered, there was no one at the front counter, so I waited a few seconds and looked around. Eventually, a lady came out from the back. I politely asked if they were open since it seemed empty, and she replied, "Is the door open?" -- in a snippy, sarcastic tone. Not the warmest start. As I tried to place my order, she cut me off mid-sentence and said, "All the prices are on the board." I'm not sure if she thought I was questioning prices or couldn't afford it, but it came off rude and dismissive. I decided to just order and leave at that point. The first two cookies I asked for were unavailable because they were out of the keto icing, so I told her to just give me any four keto cookies that were available. I asked about the keto bazookie, and she said it had to be ordered 15 minutes in advance -- fair enough. I decided to skip it and left with my cookies. Now, for the food review: * Chocolate Chip (Keto): 8/10 - Easily the best one. Soft, rich, and satisfying for a keto treat. I'd recommend this one. * Peanut Butter (Keto): 3/10 - Way too much peanut butter; I had to chase it down with water. * Sugar Cookie (Keto): 2/10 - Overly sweet and tasted like it was rolled in stevia or another artificial sweetener. * Double Chocolate Chip (Keto): 7/10 - Pretty good flavor and texture, no complaints. * Crème Brûlée (Keto) - Couldn't really judge since it was missing the icing/topping. My friend ordered from the regular (non-keto) menu and had mixed feelings: * Walnut Chocolate Chip: 10/10 - He said it was one of the best cookies he's ever had. * Double Chocolate Chip: 1/10 - Too sweet, he took one bite and tossed it. Overall, I'd rate the customer service a 1/10 and the overall visit a 1/5. I really wanted to like this place, and the cookies themselves had potential -- especially for keto options -- but the rude and dismissive service ruined the experience. I hope this was just an off day for the employee and not something deeper, involving race but either way, the attitude left a bad impression. It's a shame, because I would've loved to come back to try the keto bazookie and the cookies that were missing icing.
