So there was my second time coming to this place. Super clean, technician was a little off as far as customer service, I was in the waiting area and there was my turn I sat and instead of greeting me which she never acknowledged me. I felt line a number there she said 'hi how are you?' to the other people that were sitting there. Weird, and awkward. Oh well. I gave her a sample view of what I wanted for my brow shape. She did it just fine with the exception of she left couple of hairs in the limbo which I noticed when I got home and I had to pluck so it looked clean since she left them waaay off. It was like 2 hair strings in the bottom of my brow shape. Meaning she did not clean them well after shaping them. It is very expensive for what you get. Friendly, quick, accurate with my eyebrows, but way pricey.They have a kiosk and an actual store in Hawthorn Mall. I normally get my brows done elsewhere but was desperate. As I talked to the lady who did my eyebrows she assured me that she wouldn't make them too thin. It was pretty gOod, but not great. She asked who originally does my eyebrows and I mentioned Deepti down on Touhy & California. In her words "oOo..she's famous.." Really?? That's pretty neato. :) I've been going to her for years so it doesn't surprise me. Back to Brow Art's services I'm not sure about $12 for my eyebrows threaded. The staff are very rude. I only went here because I was going out of town and needed my eyebrows done. I've gone to places where they only charge me $10 and do a fantastic job, but in this place they charged me $20 for a crappy job. After paying, she though the receipt at me in a bothered way, and was basically begging for a tip... like seriously, she asked, "do you have money to give me?" I sat down and the first words out of my mouth were: "Please avoid the area between my eyebrows because I'm trying to grow them out." I then reiterated "Not here" as I pointed to the spot to avoid. Brow Art closed their kiosk location in Hawthorn Mall. While both locations offered the same services, I was partial to the kiosk technicians. The storefront personnel work faster, and left me with sloppy brows. Where I once was guaranteed a clean, even brow in about 5 minutes, I found in my last few visits I had to point out mistakes and have the woman go back to correct. After awhile I wondered why I was paying $12 to instruct someone how to do my brows. To add insult to injury, I felt like my brows grew out faster, meaning I had to return more often to clean them up. As others mentioned, they also push additional services on customers. Never saw this at the Kiosk. As a result, I started going across the street to Uzma's Threading. They also charge $12, but I see a night and day difference in the treatment quality for the same price. I'd highly recommend checking them out. Bottom Line: beware of early reviews like my first one... definitely seen a change in the past 5-6 weeks at Brow 23. read more

Never again. I've been here twice. They have rude employees that don't know what they're doing. They left my one eyebrow looking surprised and my other eyebrow looking angry and I still had to clean up some strands when I got home. They do not sanitize their hands between customers and are very aggressive with their threading going over and over the same spot. Poor customer service. read more

Very rude customer service. She does not stop if you ask her too and very pushy, moving your hands at her will rather than your comfort. Usually you would clean up brows with tweezers and scissors after but this was not the case here. She also starts without asking what you want done. By time I was finished she rubbed off all my eyeliner and mascara,smearing across my face. Definitely would not recommend for the prices and service. read more

For a long time I have been doubting whether to have my eyebrows shaped at this place / location I happened to be in Vernon Hills Mall on Thursday, June 2, 2001 at about 2:00 pm. I looked for the place for quite some time. When I finally found the upper level location, a pleasant lady greeted me. I deistically told /asked her (at least 6 times), being fare (blond) I DO NOT want my brows to be thin, I just want her to clean up and shape them. I also had my upper lip and chin done. 1) The lady DID NOT WASH her hands or sterilizes them, nor did she wear gloves prior to working on me. 2) The lady DID NOT listen to my repetitive requests TO PLS not remove too much of the brow hair and leave me with baldish brows in certain areas. I could actually only see the outcome, once I got home since the place DOES NOT have a magnified mirror. 3) The place DOES NOT use good dermatologic cream for itchy / irritable skin. My skin is very sensitive and I told the lady several times. 4) The price for the brows was not cheap. Needless to say that my face was red and sensitive for 24 hours and that I needed to purchase cortisone cream at a local Walgreens to calm / cool the redness and irritation of my skin. The following day, I stopped by at Brow 23 Art Kiosk to share my disappointment and bad experience. A different lady was there. She tried to apologize and even connected me with her direct supervisor (who was not at the location) by the name of Titi. Titi, apologized, not even suggesting to reimburse me for the cost of the entire service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODAY. Maybe 4 stars is too much but 3 - too little. At the end I was pretty content with the results. The lady who took care of me was pleasant. After she was done she offered me a mirror to check. I explained how I wanted the eyebrows fixed. She did it. I like that they take credit cards. the place was clean. One suggestion: if they would use alcohol or some kind of sanitizing lotion before they start threading for hygienic purpose, it would be great. You can ask for it, but I would like it to be a standard. Face is a very capricious part of the body, easily irritated and may develope breakouts. read more

I was hesitant to visit this place because there were no reviews on Yelp. But I really needed to get my brows threaded, it was the closest place to me, and I am not really picky (my much neglected brows are evidence of that) so I decided to give it a go. Here is the breakdown of my experience: Pros: * Walked right in and sat right down (went right as they opened on a weekday) * The woman who threaded was super nice and made me feel comfortable Cons: * It was pricey for what it was ($12 when I have heard of other places that do it for $6) * It was just an OK job. I have had experiences where I thought, "wow, this person is an artist!" and that thought did not cross my mind with the end product here. Overall, I say it was an OK experience. Go only if you like to be bullied into giving away your money. I went here for the first time yesterday. I was always hesitant because it is expensive - $12 for eyebrows. The lady asked me if wanted to get my eyebrows done, I said yes. She sat me down and went to work. Didn't ask me questions about what I wanted. She was done in less than 90 seconds (no joke!). She showed me what she did and I had some feedback for what I wanted changed. I knew going into it my eyebrows were not even. All she did was clean them up but didn't them even them out so I asked her to thin one of them out so they would look more the same. She wasn't very open to the request and repeatedly told me I needed to tell her before we started that I wanted a shape change and that all she was doing was cleaning it up. Now, I know I am not the only one that thinks this way, but if I am going to get my eyebrows done, I want them to look nice. I shouldn't have to specify NOT to keep them uneven. Regardless if you realize there is something wrong with them, point it out and make a recommendation- that'd why we come to you! After some back and forth she fixed them and again it took less than 90 seconds. I reviewed it again and they looked a bit better but there were some stray hairs still that she missed but given how my previous request to adjust, I just said it was fine and let it be. She asked if I wanted to pay with cash or credit. I said credit. I wasn't thrilled with the service. I didn't appreciate her barking at me and not caring about how I wanted my eyebrows done and lack of attention to the stray hairs. So at $12 for a service that lasted less than 5 minutes, I decided not to tip. I believe in tipping for good service. Period. I will not tip because 'it is expected' or because it's awkward if I don't. I already paid for the service I received and anything on top of that is because I enjoy the experience. She watched me sign the receipt and not leave a tip and ask me, "Will you be paying tip with cash?' I was dumbfounded and just stared at her because I had never been asked for a tip in my life. Mind you they have a huge tin jar front and center at the counter that says "It shows when you don't tip your Threader". That was the first thing I noticed when I walked it and it was incredibly off putting. I explained to her how I wasn't happy with the service- really fast, missed hairs and didn't appreciate her being rude. I even said, if you want to fix the hairs you missed I'll be happy to tip (I said this twice) and she never acknowledged it. She proceeded to yell at me and berate me and said that 'even people who HATE their eyebrows tip'. Yea, that's a ringing endorsement for you. She didn't ask me if I liked how she did my eyebrows but was assuming I did and also saying how when people see me they say, "wow your eyebrows are so great!'' It being my first time there, that never happened and I never said anything like that to her so she was fabricating scenarios to toot her own horn. I ended up walking out of there and told her I hope she learns to treat her customers better. The experience was extremely off-putting and the service was beyond unacceptable/professional and extremely rude. I will never be frequenting there again. Horrible place, I just came from there. Someone called nasrin or something like that did my eyebrows and was awful, kept on pushing my hands away, she was very rough with me and I don't appreciate that behaviors when you are charging that amount. She is extremely rude even at billing and when I asked her if she had swiped the card twice, she dumped the bill at me and asked me to check myself. Just went here with my sister and I would say their threading is okay at best. My eyebrows were fine however my sister left with one eyebrow thinner than the other. It is also very pricey and while we were paying, the lady working there ASKED US to tip them. Not only were they rude when we told them that it was already so expensive that we didn't want to tip, but they didn't even do a well enough job to earn a tip. I've been coming here for a few years and I liked them until my experience today. First off I was waiting a very long time because the woman working had trouble ringing someone up. She apologized so I brushed it off. After she was finished she decides to tell me she can only take cash. Um why couldn't she tell me BEFORE she did my eyebrows? I only had $9 on me but it's $12. First she told me to go to an ATM and I refused because they charge you if it's not your bank. Then she said go buy something at Payless and get cash back? I refused again. She was trying to fix the computer and I gave her time because I know how it feels. But she kept being rude to me and saying to write my number down and I can just come back tomorrow to pay her the three stupid dollars. I was getting very upset with her so I gave her the $9 and left just because she didn't tell me before she did my eyebrows she could only take cash at the moment. Don't ever go here. They are so rude and have made me bleed many times. I have gone here multiple times and the past 2 i have gotten scabs directly under my eyebrow. Although the eyebrow hair looks very good i have nasty scabs on my face that last days. Also, the staff is extremely rude, i have not met one nice lady there. My friend only tipped $1 because she was not thrilled with the result and the lady literally said "thats it?"... what the heck? Terrible customer service. Another time i went i wanted to do tip in cash and the actual brow threading on my card. So, when i got the receipt i wrote 0 for the tip and the broad said "no tip?".
