I made appointments for myself and the roommate. Our appointments were at 10:20 am. My appointment was for establishing care and a routine cleaning. The roommate's appointment was for a tooth extraction. Dr. Brotherton does not employ a dental hygenist. He did the cleaning himself. I am 66 and this was the first time the dentist did the cleaning. The cleaning was cursory at best. I will not be returning to his office. The roommate fared FAR worse. After being sat in the dental chair, a full hour after his appointment start time, he was told that there was not time to complete the extraction due to a scheduling error. We were offered and had no choice but to accept a 2:00 pm time slot to complete the extraction. The 10:20 am appointment was completed at 2:23 pm without apology or discount. The extraction is still bleeding at 7:02 pm. We will both be seeking a different dentist for future care. read more

I've been using Dr. Brotherton for 3 years. I cannot believe Bubba's review. That is not the Dr. I know. He has never raised his voice or been disrespectful to me or my husband. He answers all my questions and I ask a lot of questions. I've always been told the price because the assistants look up my insurance and know exactly what I will pay. It is easy to get an appointment, and I feel he charges less from other dentists I've had. read more

I brought my disabled wife to this dentist to do dentures. We were given an estimate by Dr. Brotherton so we could get a loan or the procedure, and had an agreement that he will be the one to take impressions and create dentures for her. He sent us to a surgeon to have majority of her teeth pulled out, and only left a few. After she healed we as agreed went to him for impressions to create the dentures before the final surgery to take out the remaining few teeth. Prior to the procedure, me and my wife tried to ask questions about the dentures because we never had a consultation with Dr. Brotherton about what to expect, and he ignored us entirely. My wife also tried to ask him normal questions and him and his nurse looked annoyed and opened her mouth while she tried to talk to them, his nurse saying: " If you want the doctor to do any work you have to stop talking." In the middle of a procedure he crammed a large amount impression material into her mouth, causing her to choke. This is not an uncommon thing with many people and my wife's previous dentist just used smaller amount of material to take impressions when she was fitted for crowns in the past. She started to choke and tried spit out the impression plates and material; Dr. Brotherton and his nurse continued shoving plates further into her mouth while she was gagging... After she spit out the plates, he pretty much turned his back on her and told me that he is not going to take the impressions because she has a gag reflex. He also told us that she shouldn't have dentures because she has a gag reflex. When I asked him if we are going to try again, and he turned at me and snapped: "How many times do you think we should try it? I can't do it, she is impossible to work with." My wife asked him to try using less material like her other dentist did, and he turned his back and ignored her completely. I asked him what we should do, because he gave us a quote and we got a loan out specifically for it, and now he was refusing to do his job and leaving us high and dry in the middle of a procedure that leaves my wife with a only a couple of front teeth and not able to eat properly. At this point his nurse blew up into the conversation and told us to " Be quiet and listen to her, and that she was NOT going to be interrupted" although nobody did. She told my wife that it was my wife's fault that she "interrupted Doctor's work by choking." The doctor told me that he wasn't going to treat my wife and that we must go to another doctor outside of town. He promised to refer us to him which never happened, his nurse just pulled a number out of the phone book, wrote it down and told us to leave. Even though my wife has been to his office before his nurse was always angry and condescending towards my wife, after she learned my wife was disabled she became even more rude to us. Basically, we were kicked out with an implication that if we didn't leave without a word of disagreement she would call the police. My disabled wife is now stuck with a couple of teeth and can't eat properly, adding to her misery, and with inability to afford another local dentist because a lot of them charge more than this one did, and forced to go across the state to seek someone we can afford. My wife is severely ill, and this stress has negatively affected her health, and we stuck in the middle not knowing what to do. If you ever in El Dorado, Arkansas, DON'T GO TO THIS DOCTOR if you value your health. He might be affordable, but he can also abandon you in the middle of an appointment and his nurse might threaten to call the cops on you. read more
