This doctor is very straight-forward and honest, which is better than most dentists etc. that I've…read morefound around here. He told me what to expect and what my choices were. However, he's not all that nice or sympathetic. I explained before my root canal that I was very anxious because I have bad allergies, and they have to tilt you back to work on you. I was concerned about whether I could breathe through my nose or whether I might choke on mucus. He was not very sympathetic or reassuring at all. He just said that some people can't be operated on. Also, I told them that I need support on my neck because of my spine problems. The nurse gave me a pillow, but the doctor just said that would cause him to lean me back even more (as if that were my fault). He was kind of a jerk, and his attitude made me even more anxious. Also, when I asked the woman out front how long it would take for the pain killers to wear off, she said two or three hours. It was 8 hours before they started to wear off.

The roommate's appointment was for a tooth extraction. Dr. Brotherton does not employ a dental hygenist. He did the cleaning himself. I am 66 and this was the first time the dentist did the cleaning. The cleaning was cursory at best. I will not be returning to his office. The roommate fared FAR worse. After being sat in the dental chair, a full hour after his appointment start time, he was told that there was not time to complete the extraction due to a scheduling error. We were offered and had no choice but to accept a 2:00 pm time slot to complete the extraction. The 10:20 am appointment was completed at 2:23 pm without apology or discount. The extraction is still bleeding at 7:02 pm. We will both be seeking a different dentist for future care.
