Its engine "runs hot," even though it doesn't register a high-temperature on the dashboard thermometer. These Promasters have a reputation for running hot, but risking a stall-out in the desert was intimidating. Not only did the mechanics at Mitchel's squeeze me in for a pre-trip checkup, they took my Promaster for a test drive, & afterwards assured me that all was well under the hood. When it came time to pay the bill, they floored me when they said "No charge--there was nothing wrong." So I promised then to bring the campervan back when its next tuneup is due--and I'm happy to report that we made the desert crossing in 109-degree heat with not the slightest problem. Many thanks! We took our Ford F-250 in for a checkup and it turned out to be transmission fluid. They refilled the transmission and no leak could be detected. We used the truck all day and returned to have the transmission fluid checked that afternoon and it was still good. Auto Tech gave us two quarts of fluid to take with us and would not let me pay them for them. They are very good people and I highly recommend them.
