Its engine "runs hot," even though it doesn't register a high-temperature on the dashboard thermometer. These Promasters have a reputation for running hot, but risking a stall-out in the desert was intimidating. Not only did the mechanics at Mitchel's squeeze me in for a pre-trip checkup, they took my Promaster for a test drive, & afterwards assured me that all was well under the hood. When it came time to pay the bill, they floored me when they said "No charge--there was nothing wrong." So I promised then to bring the campervan back when its next tuneup is due--and I'm happy to report that we made the desert crossing in 109-degree heat with not the slightest problem. Many thanks! Each shop told me that I would need a brand new transmission which seemed weird to me since the issue was an overheating issue. I just kept going farther West looking for another opinion and that's when I came across Jamisons Shop. The owner (Jeremy) told me that he would be more than happy to take a look at the truck. When I got there, he did a quick inspection and proceeded to ramble off a handful of big mechanic words to his helper and told me that he can get it fixed for 1/3 of the price since the solution was to never replace the transmission. His shop's yard looked like the largest dealership on this side of the Mississippi yet the turn around was extremely fast. My truck is still up and running and actually sounds better than when I purchased it. -My main point in all of this rambling was that he- -Correctly diagnosed the issue -Was upfront with the quote -Clearly explained what would change after the repair -More than fair with the turnaround time I wish we were allotted a 6 star review once a year so I could use mine on this honey hole of an auto repair shop.

We took our Ford F-250 in for a checkup and it turned out to be transmission fluid. They refilled the transmission and no leak could be detected. We used the truck all day and returned to have the transmission fluid checked that afternoon and it was still good. Auto Tech gave us two quarts of fluid to take with us and would not let me pay them for them. They are very good people and I highly recommend them.
