When you rent a slip here you get access to so many amenities. They have free champagne brunch on the weekends during the warmer months, there is a free DVD library, they have coin washer and dryers on site, access to the bathrooms with showers (which are very nice!), and there are often community events you can go to as well. My boyfriend's boat has it's own bathroom/shower but it does feel luxurious to take a shower in their bathrooms. You also get access to their pool as part of your membership! I am looking forward to jumping in that pool next summer! The staff have always been super helpful and encouraging of everyone to have fun and be safe on the water. I only wish I could come by more often!

They have a lot of guest docking as well to just come out for the day and have fun. They offer a lot more than other marinas in the area with really great people who work here.

But, if you're like us, you not only need ice and soda, you need a place to dock the boat, to load and unload passengers, maybe take a quick swim or just get on land for a bit. We've been meeting friends on the Boon-Dox for years. Sometimes if Bob is in one of his fishing crazes, which is pretty much all the time, he hits New Hope at dawn and stays out on the Sacramento Delta til at least dusk. That is too long for me. I prefer a lazy morning of coffee and paper, some yelp, maybe even a little laundry. Then, I climb in my little red car and toodle up the road to Walnut Grove. I look for parking under the tall eucalyptus trees across the street from the Boon-Dox Liquor Store. Sometimes I spy a make-shift fruit stand off the tail gate of a seller's truck. Mmm Watermelons, perfect! Now, to drag the ice chest, pic-a-nic basket and bag o' essentials down to the dock. Once there, I begin the wait for Bob. Many times I run into a local and we strike up a conversation. People are friendly on the river. If you ever have mechanical problems you'll get help within minutes. It's not like being way laid on 680 as cars go whizzing past you at 80 miles an hour. Folks are out here to take it easy, meet some new friends, toss a line in the water or just enjoy nature. As soon as the next boat trolls by, you'll hear a call-out, "Hey dude (or dudette), you need some help"?

The owners/harbormasters, Jack and Heidi, run the place very, well with rules that keep the place safe and undesirables out. The location is secluded, has very little boat or vehicle traffic, and is the quite place for which I was searching. Jack and Heidi are some of the most friendly people I have ever met, and were at large part of the reason I chose that place. My dogs have the ability to run free on the private levees, once we are away form the marina, there are miles of levee trails on which to ride your bike without having to watch for traffic. Wildlife abounds, from the Great Horned Owls hooting to each other as they start their nightly hunt, to the coyotes howling at sunset. Water birds like ducks, blue herons, and water animals like otters, live there with each other. All in all a great place, from the fishermen who daily come to the boat ramp to launch, to the live-aboard community that hosts parties and watches out for each other. Would not trade it for any other marina I have seen in the Delta yet.
