Relying on GOOGLE'S Siri, I arrived around 09:15 hrs m, to find business hours had been slightly rearranged at Norman's Rare Guitar Shop. Not being one to waste time, in the same little strip mall (TOPEKA VENTURA PLAZA) I saw a coffee shop (PEET'S) and decided to treat myself to some (coffee), and I did. I went in, got hot black coffee & a Blueberry Muffin. Before realizing it, it was 11 am. So I mozied'on'over to NORMAN's. The video I took, as I approached the guitar shop main door, will tell you more than words could ever say. Once I was in the guitar shop, I felt a nostalgic Deja-Vu pinching me. The same atmosphere, feel, sounds surrounded me like when I used to go to Sam Ash and other, now gone, guitar & Pawn shops. Be that as it may, I hope my photography will satisfy your curiosity of this scouting mission I went on today and as always ... ... thank you for stopping by! 05/06/26 ... UPDATE As promised, Greg Sinclair drove from Redondo Beach (I think) up to my place in North Hollywood, and picked me up. AS YOU RECALL. Greg has been inviting me to accompany him to go to NORMAN'S RARE GUITAR SHOP. We first had lunch on Venture Blvd at BLU JAM. It was very trendy for me, at least. Then we got to the guitar shop and Greg introduced me to Michael, whom you will see a short clip playing one of their guitars. Greg and I had a very satisfying visit at NORMAN'S, as we strolled around inside. We also met another guitarist who works there-Joey, I believe and if I'm wrong, I will correct my error. They have live music on certain days and as soon as I can get their schedule, I'll share it! All in all, THANK YOU, GREG, for your considerate invitation, picking me up at home, treating me to a fabulous lunch at BLU JAM restaurant, a fun time at NORMAN'S RARE GUITARS, and best of all ... your companionship. If you love music.. if you've ever played an instrument and want to take a trip down memory lane, or explore what avenues you could potentially go down in the next year of your live, trust me, you'll be so glad you came here. Eric (the owner) is so cool and friendly. He stayed late to take my call the first time I reached out, and walked me through the process of purchasing my first pro level mic. It was so much cheaper (and a gazillion times more enjoyable) buying from him here, compared to anything else online. I took my son, who's 11.. he didn't quite "get" how cool it was.. but if you've been a teenager before, and grown up ever admiring this bass or that pedal or this amp or that guitar.. guaranteed they have something that'll catch your eye, and give you promise for a tomorrow filled with hope and enjoyment. You can blow some money at your local big box store like I tend to do every week at Costco/Home Depot, not saying that it's not worth it.. but the money spent here just seems to go a LOT further.. and is SO MUCH MORE MEANINGFUL. I treasure my new Elvis Mic (Shure 55SH) and am so grateful I found it and came here to pick it up in person. I'll be back.. I ought to schedule a visit once a month.. my wife loves book stores.. which I've kinda gotten into as well recently... but this is like, SO.. NEXT.. LEVEL!! Hope this review finds it to the right person looking for a pick me up and something to help boost their spirits this week. I promise coming here will put you in a better mood. Wherever you live, it's worth the trip.

Such a well put together store. I cannot say enough about this place! I love the Cymbal & Drum room, being I'm a drummer. Your drum guy is super cool & awesome. Love the Eddie Van Halen mural out back behind the store. You should add Dolly Parton! I'm shocked her hand prints aren't out front! It was it's own experience. There are tons of plaques of handprints and signatures of famous musicians and bands. It's really cool and I enjoyed looking at all of them seeing who I could find. When you enter the store you see how big it is. It has several sections with different types of instruments. There is a variety of guitars, a drum section with cymbals and so many other things. As far as service goes we had limited conversations. We just walked in and the person working at the front just kind of looked at us and nodded. One person passing by us did say that if we needed anything or if we had any questions to let him know but that was about it. Overall this Guitar Center visit was okay. The exterior plaques are really cool to look at, and the store is huge with a variety of musical instruments to look at or purchase.
